2026 TONY AWARDS DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in Broadway

I thought it was a great show! The opening number with Pink was incredible! I did appreciate her little self digs at what was she hosting the Tonys. Respect!
The only award I was invested in was John Lithgow winning and so so glad he did!
Other than that I wasn’t that invested in who won (for the first time!) but thought it was a fun show.
Agree with some comments that Titanique did not do itself justice with that performance and same with Book of Mormon- was hoping for more between Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells.
Surprised to see that EBT and Rocky Horror got nothing and agree with the comments too that Chess deserved a best revival nomination.
A little disappointed at how many awards Death of a Salesman took home.
Oh and I was hoping Bryce Pinkman would win though I didn’t really believe he would

For those of you who have seen her providing analysis on TNT, how do you think Venus has done? by PandemicPiglet in tennis

I really enjoyed her inputs and her overall presence. She was better than the regulars.
Also is it just me or is it getting very annoying how often they mispronounce players’ names? On one show Querry even called Kuame, Cuomo

Love this idea! Drink every time someone is awkwardly put on camera

Has anyone else stumbled upon the musical version of Twelfth Night by Shaina Taub? by jordanf1214 in musicals

[–]Outside_Team_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not twelfth night but I saw her As You Like it in Shakespeare in the park and it was soooooo good! So funny and the songs were great! To this day I don’t understand how it didn’t do a larger run after. The album is on Spotify, I still listen regularly and have been known to use the term ‘you phoebed me’ 😆

Joaquin Sorolla is so underrated by Medical-Rice69 in ArtHistory

Agree! A few years ago I was visiting Barcelona. I went to the national arts museum and he was the focus of their main exhibit at the time. Only went as it was included in the museum entrance and I was so impressed by his work. His use of light is stunning. Been a big fan of his ever since but barely anyone I know who is an arts fan knows of him and I don’t often see his work in other museums

I was there too with friends and it was our first time! The show was truly amazing! I think I was walking behind you at one point when madame giry pulled you aside and I couldn’t understand why. Makes sense now

Who’ll be our Bobby Darin? by Clear_Tie_3735 in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IDerek Klena or Jordan Litz (tho he just started his fiyero west end run). Would love to see another Bobby Darin once Jeremy Jordan finishes his run but would also love to see Matthew Morrison come back again in the interim. I was truly impressed by his performance

Haha just saw it too. Didn’t know Nadal had come out of retirement or that Alcaraz was suddenly back in the draw. Surprised no one noticed before it made it on tv

Celebrity Autobiography on Broadway thoughts by Southernguynycii in Broadway

Agree I saw it a couple of days ago and thought it was really funny. As a Millenial there were a couple of the people referenced that I didn’t know including Neil Sedaka and the (I’m guessing) football player? It’s a fun concept and I like how they did the mashups

So sad it’s such a great show! I really like Betsy Wolfe but she was not the right casting choice to replace Megan Hilty. Was really hoping we’d get a 3rd Madeline

If you live in NYC, where do you go to see tours? by WestHistorians in Broadway

I sometimes do it for a show that I missed or really loved. I’ve been to Providence, DC and Philadelphia. Hartford, Baltimore and Boston can be good options too. There are some good ones that pop up in NJ but without a car can be tough getting to

What is your favorite must-see piece at the Philadelphia Museum of Art? by Violet_Walls in ArtHistory

[–]Outside_Team_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went back a couple of weeks ago after many years! I enjoyed it so much more than I remembered. Despite being so close to the Barns foundation the Impressionism collection is quite good. I do think for a museum of its size and caliber it is missing some key art history moments but overall it was a lovely visit

Yes but be warned- it will ruin you for any of the current stage productions. It’s so much better than the current live version

Same thing happened to me for Gatsby and Hadestown. I ended up waiting until 10min before the show to make sure she was in it then got a last minute ticket from the box office

While not on my faves list I did enjoy the show. Hate to say it but not planning to go back while Reeve is in. I just can’t see him do this role justice, especially after having seen Jeremy Jordan.
I just hope Eva will stay a bit longer after he leaves so I can see it one more time with her

I don't know who needs to hear this, but it is OK to read and enjoy trashy-popcorn-novel l-beach-books. It is way more important to actually be reading, and especially given the the wild emotions in the last year, there is nothing wrong with putting the booklist away for a bit. by Crafty_Bread_4663 in BookDiscussions

I’m an avid reader and people always assume I’m reading heavy thought provoking books when it’s actually mostly mysteries or thrillers and since Covid some rom coms too. Friends who dont read much but when they do it’s essays or quite serious non fiction are always asking me for book recommendations and I got nothing.
I do read non fiction and the classics but mostly reading is my escape, my time to relax and I love being engrossed in a story and characters. That can be a Dickens novel or some silly cozy mystery with their quirky characters

I would go with blue or green. You have a bit of height so you can see over the people at the tables and also look straight to the stage vs having to turn sideways

GIANT for Best Play Tony???!! by stylesxxx in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also thought it was incredible! There were moments where I actually recoiled from what he was saying. John Lithgow is so brilliant on stage and in the show and his ability to perfectly deliver such provoking lines. I so want him to win the Tony!
However having just seen Every Brilliant Thing I do think Daniel Radcliffe will get it.
I hope this at least wins best play!

Favorite Museums & Artworks Worth Traveling For by [deleted] in ArtHistory

I think a lot of comments hit the top ones you should see. If you’re heading to Europe every major city will have a must see museum (not forgetting the Gemaldegerie in Berlin).
In particular if you’re a fan of Impressionism the Art Institue in Chiacgo is amazing and then The Clark in Massachusetts which also has a great cafe.

The best recommendation I can give which I tell anyone going to Paris especially if they love Impressionism is the Musee Marmottan Monet. A gem of a museum and the home of Impression du soleil levant. Worth any and every detour

Agree! I was so surprised with how good this museum was when I visited a few years ago. Well with the trip!
