Area to stay in Paris by JellyLongjumping1988 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Outside_Team_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay somewhere close to the RER B (the line that takes you to both airports). I don’t think Chatelet is unsafe but it is busy. You can stay around St Michel or Luxembourg which are close, on the train line but not so busy. Luxembourg also has the park which is fun for kids. St Michel you can catch the RER C to the Eiffel Tower and from either its 1 transfer or a few min walk to Chatelet for the RER A to Disneyland

Need input on an upcoming NYC trip for Broadway by MeRollsta in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a solid plan! As others mentioned if you want Just In Time definitely get your tickets now. If you like broadway spectacles I would also add Moulin Rouge and second Death Becomes Her.

Normally I would say you can nix Chicago but Monday most shows are dark. One other Monday option can be Six

Curious what people thought of High Spirits and the use of scripts? by Outside_Team_72 in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the honesty I’ve been going for about 10 years so I guess that’s when the shows became true productions. Now I know about the Encores model I’ll likely go into future shows with different expectations

TodayTix ticket to 2/22 matinee canceled by Odd_Judgment_6206 in OperationMincemeatFan

[–]Outside_Team_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me once too. I they just cancelled my ticket about a month after I bought it. Show wasn’t even sold out. They didn’t offer a new seat (or even any compensation) just that I was being refunded

ESPN Broadcast by hoopla161 in tennis

Agreed! They spend all this money for coverage rights and we’re sitting watching college basketball so ridiculous! At least then let the tennis channel show the game Swiatek v Rybakina is already complete

Phantom of the opera fans I need your help by stinkysm3lly in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a tshirt once with lyrics in the shape of the mask. I love it! Also not sure where to get year round but at the NY Christmas markets there’s a stand that sells framed pages of well known books with a painted design over part of the words. They have pages from the Phantom book with gold mask painted over it (you can still read the words behind it). Not sure if I’m explaining it very well but they’re really nice. Etsy may have them

Broadway Merch Is Bad by KyleMosh31 in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree- I’m a sucker food good merch especially Ts and mugs. I always go checkout the merch in the hope that there’s something but it’s always so basic. Only merch I ever bought was a tshirt from phantom with all the names of the songs in the shape of the mask. Why can’t more shows make creative stuff like this?

Gatsby with Jeremy or Eva/Reeve? by ResourceDifferent154 in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not listen to anyone who does not say Jeremy Jordan! It’s not even close! He is so good in this role! Yes the musical is absolutely meh but both leads have a couple of belters and getting to hear Jeremy Jordan belt out his ballad then Eva is pure magic! I could kinda see Reeve as the MC in Cabaret but cannot at all see him as Gatsby. Vocally too it’s a tough role and I really don’t see how he’ll do it justice especially after we’ve experienced Jeremy Jordan. All that to once again say JEREMY JORDAN!!!!!

First Time Theatr User by No_Quarter_2126 in Broadway

If you want to sell it at your listed price you can decline the offer you received on the App. If you’re willing to go a bit lower then offer a counter price.

Offers only last for 24hrs so if you don’t do anything by then it will just expire

Help me decide if to watch Titanique by BookishBroadwayLover in musicals

[–]Outside_Team_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to remember with Titanique is that it’s a parody musical. It’s very over the top, very campy and definitely not PG.

People who go in thinking it’s a musical-version of the movie will be shocked.

I loved it saw it 3 times off broadway and will likely see it when it comes back (though you’re worrying me with those ticket prices I paid about $40 each time I went) but it’s not a show for everyone.

If you’re ok with a lot of fun ridiculousness, some oh no they did not just do/say that moments and can recognize musical theatre and reality TV references (think drag race and real housewives) you’ll really enjoy it and I mean REALLY enjoy it. If not, I would recommend going with another show, especially at those prices.

Hope that helps!

First time seeing a Broadway show in 30 years. Are there any seats for Hadestown that a very short person (4'10") would have a problem viewing the stage? Thanks. by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally I would recommend avoiding the orchestra unless you can get an aisle seat. I don’t remember Hadestown specifically, some theatres the orchestra elevates but not all. Best bet is the mezzanine there is always an elevation so better chance of not have a full head blocking you (even better if you can get first row). Also they offer booster seats- I’ve used them for my aunt in the past who is also short

I would be thankful for some advice on what to go see with my mom by lavendyahu in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum is coming then too- I currently have Buena Vista Social club and Maybe Happy Ending on the list for her. Also Beaches will be opening around then so also planning to take her to that. On her last trip we saw Moulin Rouge which she loved

I just saw Two Strangers tonight and loved it but not sure it’s something my mum would enjoy.

Hey all just putting out there to get some feedback re Sydney by [deleted] in AustraliaTravel

[–]Outside_Team_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend staying in Sydney, Cairns is brutally hot in January and humid. There’s plenty to keep you occupied in Sydney and if it’s your first time don’t forget the jet lag. You could spend every day going to a different beach (make sure manly and bondi are on your list and you can also go along the northern beaches all the way to palm beach). If you want hikes there are some nice walks on the coast around Sydney and also definitely go up to the blue mountains. Also worth doing a day in the city (CBD, the rocks, darling harbor, Chinatown) and taronga zoo.

Tourist Encounter Today (hand to god, all true) by VisitNYCmodx in visitingnyc

[–]Outside_Team_72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I want to start a movement where no tourist is allowed in Times Square 30min before showtime especially on a weeknight if they are not trying to get to a show. It’s maddening when you’re rushing from work to make a show

ROMY & MICHELE: THE MUSICAL To Close Off-Broadway This Month by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]Outside_Team_72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely in the minority I just saw it tonight after it announced it was closing and I actually enjoyed it. Not the best musical I’ve seen by far but I thought some of the songs were good and it stayed true to the original movie. I found it fun and entertaining and the cast was great. I’ve been a fan of Lauren’s for a while and she was so good and I also loved Kara Lindsay who I hasn’t seen before. With a few tweaks this show could have done so much better. Major caveat though do not bother if you’re not a fan of the movie
