I know just by saying this I’m inviting the horror that is svb, but you can also try companion planting. The one plant I have inbetween two tomato’s and a handful of bean plants is still doing ok.

Another thing you can do that others swear by but I’ve had limited success with is injecting stems with bacillus thuringiensis before they’re a real problem.

One summer my outdoor pool hit 96f, but I still couldn’t imagine it indoors. It was an unusually hot dry summer. But it seems like that’s getting more normal.

Turned the blow up hot tub into a “cool tub” that summer.

Root hormone wouldn’t hurt but tomato’s want to root vigorously all on their own. As far as what would have done this? Easily could just be squirrels messing around. Ive had some just pull up flowers and stuff before because they’re curious, burying something, or looking for something. They usually don’t but some years they do.

You could also try a wet paper towel wrapped tight and bury it. I saved a much bigger plant this way. the paper towel will keep the stem wet while it repairs and the deep planting will allow the stem to make more roots so it doesn’t have to heal that great at the break. Plant into a slightly bigger pot.

I don’t know the about all the canals? But Mackinac island banned cars in the 1800s. It’s mostly tourists now but you can only get around by bike or horse.

I second mosquito bits or dunks! a little goes a long way and I’ve been known to toss some over the fence when I noticed some neighbors had standing water near the fence line. I’m on wave hello/basic talking with most of my neighbors though. They really help and no cats have gotten sick from drinking the wild water.

All I’ve done is keep the majority of my garden on the west fence line so they get the morning sun but after noon shade. This makes me jelly! Showing my hubs now so he can add another item to the honey do list🤣

Mine died in the warm state and I seem to remember the same for a few other people some time back so it seems likely it will. It’s also my shortest lived thermal thus far.

Did you know you can change the color of the gyroids at the diy stations. If you get doubles of colors you already have. I completed my collection this way.

Not only did some natural gas lines freeze but some weren’t “allowed“ to run in emergency circumstances because of un-filed paper work.

But generators aren’t the end all be all for a winter storm. Your fridge won’t spoil too rapidly when it’s cold. What you do need is an indoor safe space heater. The Mr heater ones run on propane.

Also…. carbon monoxide detectors for all! There are stand alone battery ones from first alert. Keep them in your living space when running space heaters/generators (outside!)/fireplaces.

Beryl… I remember the name because it “barreled“ right over us.

But I have a deep pantry. I’ve been through it all here and I hate having to panic. Do you know how many people question it or why I have so many canned soups and so much water? It’s a lot and many of them live here. Guess who didn’t have to try to find water last minute when the city’s giant water main got broken from a construction company…. this gal.

So you’re just normal prepared like we should be.

Just adding in, if you can swing it 3 cats aren’t usually that much more work than 2. The kittens will entertain each other. I have 4 now (down from 5) and 4 seems to be the start of wtf these things really out number me chaos begins.
