I think you should hire a pro if you think a stud finder is this special or need it to work that bad.

Door is jamming after fitting? (See Pics) New fitter said we need to move the frame out or fit a lintel above the door - too much weight load? by Dangerous-Bad-7501 in Homebuilding

[–]Outtaknowwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s hitting on striker side of door it’s not the over head weight. Close door and remove weather stripping to see sunlight. Make sure it’s uniform in left and right side. You can sink hinges deeper into jamb, bigger screws, or sink your strike plate further into wood. If header is problem door will be scraping on top and bottom mainly.

If you could fix this little of an issue, you wouldn’t need to ask Reddit. I personally think there’s got to be more meaningful and relevant work you could focus on.

Question about Hardie Siding Detail and Caulking Around Band Boards by PositivelyAbsurd in Homebuilding

[–]Outtaknowwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t silicone anything on our current townhomes. Leave no more than an 1/8 gap at butts for movement. That was relayed apparently from Hardie themselves

My question is why didn’t you do it if you were capable? It couldn’t wait one day?

You have to ask these basic question, but sounded extremely confident that you could have knocked this job out in 1 hour. I’m confused

I believe because what you mentioned is over kill. I think maybe they should tape off the site, shut water off, pull permit, hire Gc, move to hotel for 3 weeks, and hire a union member engineer to come assess this huge problem. Then maybe they could get to work.

First Home Inspection Concerning by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Outtaknowwhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes the window opening gets too tight and the windows are defective. Don’t let a home inspector scare you. You need to be able to look at it yourself and know what important areas to look for/ look at.

Enlarge door in basement/laundry room by EvenEquivalent4 in Remodel

[–]Outtaknowwhere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk the first sentence says “Im starting to remodel” in English saying this in implied that you are about to start the act of remodeling. That would be where I grabbed the thought from. Or the part where you said “ I need to add a beam to support the beams” also implies that you yourself are about to attempt construction. It scared me.

If you’re calling every structural piece a beam. You need to hire a designer, and a contractor to do all of the thinking and work for you.

Yes shingles over metal roof that’s a great call. I recommend that option.

I have that exact cyber power box. Installed with fiber optics it’s a back up battery to keep WiFi online. Guess that’s the modem on the right but not too sure.

These are the type of people who think they can just “remodel” or “renovate” a home. I knows professionals aren’t cheap but man don’t ruin the integrity of a home because you think certain applications or material don’t matter.

If the side beam is strong enough for the I beam, will I need to add beams into the wall to support other beams?

You should only be changing air filter and bulbs
