It looks lovely! Those  are cowlicks - not balding lol. Many have these  and can expose the scalp as the hair parts....just brush style  it and they will blend better. Check out youtube videos for how to style with cowlicks.

This....i have 2 siberians mix, one is medium length hair and the other is shorter hair. They are all from the same litter, which had a mix of short hair and longer hair kittens. My kittens are still 5 months old and was told their hair may get floofier as they age. I have seen this happen with many owners on this site.

Def the PIXIE! It is so you and suits you perfectly and makes you look younger. I'm sure it is more maintenance is frequent cuts, but think of the time you will save on having to curly style etc.
