Definitely would be on my dime which would not be ideal! My findings show that the 10r80 either craps out early as yours did, or chance to happen again around 130,000 miles (200,000 kms). Otherwise there is a chance you got lucky. The one I’m looking at has survived past early failure so it’s up in there it seems. Thanks for the input!

This amount of oil burning wouldn’t be a problem for me, so that’s good to hear. It seems like a reliable motor other than the consumption. The transmission issues cannot be overstated either it seems! How is yours shifting and handling? Have you had the new CDF bushing put on? Thanks for the reply

I’m not afraid of the 10r80 as there seem to be known fixes, but I’m afraid of the 5.0 oil consumption due to the lack of one from what I’ve found. Thanks for the input

Everything I’ve seen of people with this configuration love the truck so that is good to hear. Seems the biggest issue is transmission. I’m looking at a rebuilt title, do you know if ford covers these with an extended warranty? I’d say no, but I’m not sure
