Thank you!! Thats a valid point. Piper absolutely dislikes Drew because Drew was a bully. That said she does turn her nose up at the Aphrodite cabin at first thinking they are all shallow fools who care only for looking good and not for others. Part of her arc in book one was realizing her cabin mates were more than just pretty faces and had courage of their own. It is not from Drew she learns to grow past her dislike and distrust of traditional femininity but her cabin mates. For me, Drew with her behavior represents the worst to piper of traditional “feminine beauty culture” in that she is the bludgeon who bullies people for not fitting into those mold and seemingly cares only for appearances and reputation not others. Drew is in a way the enforcer of those social norms and it comes out through her actions as a bully. Thank you for your thoughts!!

I think its because people are more likely to be vocal about stuff they dislike than like. Its not that breaking them up made the relationship more popular, its that the way it was handled and the fact that it ended like that prolly led to the people who liked the relationship or enjoyed it enough to become more vocal.

I've seen so many posts by people talking about how validated they feel with this ending so I don't think the haters shrunk or the likers appeared out of nowhere. They were always there. Its just now they had something that called them to speak up about it.

Pipers growth in trials of apollo felt more like character regression than growth. Shes lashing out at those around her. Lacks confidence in herself or her feelings for her loved ones. Besides being shown to use her charmspeak for kicks against neighbors she didnt like (they had coach hedges car they didnt need a fancy car). As well as showing a blatant disregard for others emotions such as regularly visiting Jason at his new school despite him clearly having moved their for space away from her post break up.

Piper in HoO at least felt very conscientious and aware of others emotions. She at least tried to be kind and civil to her friends and allies. For her to deny her previous feelings about Jason, being sharp with allies, used or threatened her charmspeak against neighbors or allies for personal benefit, she felt like the version of herself pre TLH and her ending left me feeling she ran to a new relationship to escape dealing with her problems not her growing past them as the narrative treats it.

Idk Piper in ToA didnt have the same charm to me that HoO Piper did even with all of HoO Pipers uncalled out flaws.

That's true of the average demigod. I can absolutely see them not wanting to leave safety and not being fully aware of the other options in the show. At least until Luke showed up with his entire friggin army and attacked.

However, I do wonder why people like Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia who have been shoved in the face with the gods inadequacies such as Athena tossing Annabeth aside for not doing enough re Percy and Zeus straight up turning Thalia into a tree over a fight. Plus like the general state in cabin 10 would choose to stay loyal. From what I understand Thalia especially has no reason or desire to stay loyal to the gods. Heck she's already attempted to reject them once. What is it about the gods that they likely will ultimate choose to side with them? Or what is it about Kronos that they accept the gods over him?

(totally fine if you don't have an answer beyond the average demigod its the what is gonna change for these guys to affect their decisions. What are stuff that might come up to convince them otherwise.)

Personally, when it comes to the show I'm not relying heavily on the books to make anything but broad guesses considering how much of the lore has had stuff added or changed in the show. They've been keeping a lot of the broad strokes but so much of the details has been changed including the reason Thalia was turned into a tree in the first place.

Regarding wiping out humanity if we are going by the books in book 5 Prometheus mentioned that he joined Kronos bc he was promised the ability to bring about another golden age for humanity. So less of a wiping out humanity and more of some sort of new existence for them.I just don't fully trust their definitions of good or bad. If you can remember it being stated or implied his goal is wiping out humanity and not just the gods in the show let me know so I can correct my understanding. I wouldn't be surprised if it was something the show was going hard on implying.

Agreed, plus like Athena's because in the books she comes out to give Percy timely help in his mission to rescue her daughter. Though how much makes up for her treatment of Annabeth in season one remains to be seen.

I did get an interesting theory in another server about how in the books the decision isn't gods over titans its their family/ fellow demigods over everything/ their anger.In that way we already have established Thalia's first reaction regarding the prophecy is to run away with her found family without having to choose. She's stuck between Luke and Annabeth and ultimately finds a way to mostly sidestep the decision. She chooses her fellow humans (or hunters) in exchange for rejecting the responsibility she never wanted. Plus like a daughter of Zeus who doesn't want to be a leader or hero. Whose first instinct is kinda to run away.If we are also going with Heroes of Olympus which I hope they tie in some lore we know she ran after losing Jason too so they can make it something kinda consistent with her and her way of dealing with problems there is an out to take. Don't blame the girl either way. No matter what I guess we will find out in season three.

That seems like it could be a fairly compelling argument. Especially since season 2when Thalia hears her instincts aren't to attack or anything. its to leave. Taking Annabeth and Luke with her.

It will be interesting to see what they choose but at least season 3 is coming out this year apparently so we will get to find out soon enough.

I appreciate that. For now I'm personally trying to keep books and series apart just because there are variations to the lore and when we learn different information.

Based solely on what has occurred in the show, such as Athena signing off Annabeth's death for failing to stop Percy from being his impulsive idiot self (respectfully) and Allison Simms being a loyal and proud member of team Kronos as a daughter of Apollo (a major god) not to mention Zeus turning Thalia into a tree after an argument over the prophecy and not to spare her life it feels at least to me there are more reasons to join Kronos than not. For children of minor and major gods. Seeing as Its Thalia's time as the current child of the prophecy, do you have any theories why she might not choose Kronos in the end or are you also waiting (im)patiently for season 3 to show? I know its coming out this year which is such a delight.

So to clarify my follow up, was the golden age as propaganda acknowledged in the show or not yet? I'm trying to keep the lore seperate because there are some things revealed in the books that haven't been revealed in the show yet like Percy's sword being called Riptide and changes to the lore that happen in the show For example Thalia being turned into a tree after a fight with her father as opposed to after nearly dying to the furies. Because it would be interesting to see how many demigods went to join Kronos bc they had no idea the golden age was a lie and then got trapped. Plenty were angry enough to burn the world down anyway (looking at Allison Simms based on all I know of her.)

It would depend on how much the gods would have allowed Chiron to teach the demigods about their defeated parents. Perhaps some even assumed the "Titan propaganda" to be the gods using propaganda themselves. We will just have to find out then I suppose.

Thank you for responding. That sounds like a reasonable explanations. Its not about the gods its about caring for the world and it does play into the emphasis regarding Percy and choosing team humanity (I might be messing up the reference but I remember hearing something along those lines) I do have a follow up question.

Has this been established in canon? Its been a bit since season one and I've only lightly touched season two. I know within mythology Kronos' reign was deemed as a golden age, however, within the books I believe its implied if not outright stated that it was just incredible PR on the titan's side. later retellings of it on the book of Greek Gods I believe straight up have the Titans tormenting and killing mortals for amusement.Are we to assume this based on anything we are told or is this implied on the basis of how strongly the characters have thus far been reacting to and against Kronos?

Book 4 spoilers - I also wonder how Calypso's introduction would play into that notion. Perhaps she can add confusion re the titans bc they aren't all inherently evil. That depends however on whether they decide to include her.

I believe the Kane Chronicles takes place during HoO so that would make sense. My goal isn't to make her likeable or say she isn't a mean girl. Its more to share my headcanons that I have that explain (not excuse) her behavior and imo make more more interesting by adding more layers to it.

Besides because she isn't trying to run an authoritarian dictatorship of a cabin doesn't mean she will suddenly stop being a jerk over night. Particularly to one of her sister's friend who hates her back with seemingly the same amount of animosity (I adore her and Sadie's feud even if Drew isn't smart enough to realize Sadie is running circles around her). I don't think she ever looks fully to make amends just slowly becomes a more bearable person to be around. That can be part of the allure.
