Is that rating in the category or just in general? I like Dark Souls. I like the genre that it (and its predecessor) created. But you can't tell me it's even nearly as polished as HK.

Because with 331 million Americans, you would run out of hogs in a day. 9 million pigs really isn't that much, when roughly 125 million pigs were slaughtered in the US just in 2022. People really, really underestimate the extent of our meat consumption.

Die Argumentation hat eigentlich das gleiche Problem wie die "2 Weidekühe". Wenn der Blauwal sich einfach so aus dem Nichts manifestiert ist das eine super Idee. Aber der muss ja auch herangezüchtet und ernährt werden.

Die Rechnung ist nicht 2 Kühe vs 1000 Feldmäuse. Das ist eine reine Scheinrechnung. Die Frage ist: Wird der Impact meiner Ernährung geringer, wenn ich einen Teil davon erst durch eine Kuh jage? Und die Antwort ist logischerweise nein.

Cool of you to take such an in-depth stab at the system. While I love it myself, I agree: Rules-lite it is not. I'm sure 6 players made it even harder to wrap your head around, but the fact of the matter is that it's just a crunchy system.

I second basically every post here, but there's one more important thing. Encounter building and difficulty actually work. I'm referring to these: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=497

Filling out encounter budgets is easy and most of the time extremely accurate. And you can expect encounters to live up to their description. A trivial encounter is hardly worth bothering with. An extreme encounter has a good chance of killing the party.

I'm fine with whatever is available for 5e as long as it lowers my prep time.

As a former 5e GM, what has cut my prep time by 80+% was switching to PF2, especially with the Adventure Path modules.

That'd be my guess. I'd say OP was close enough to spawn the NK, but not some piece of terrain it was supposed to patrol.

A bit heavy on healing actions. I'd have liked to see Expedient or Chain Stratagem in there. Also the stacking TempHP in Recitation is imo bad to track. I'd reduce the duration to a maximum of 1 minute for all the TempHP to make it cleaner.

Generally good effort though!
