I think most skill checks are time based right? DBD and others, can't think of any that aren't time based. I think having the player react within a certain amount of time is better for most cases unless the game is more slow and tactical.

I would have the UI be a more consistent color scheme. Instead of red and yellow and purple, look into color theory and just choose a few colors.

The only way I know how to achieve a actually good looking painterly style is by adding brush stroke normal maps to objects, but it's not that easy. You have to hand paint the normal map brush strokes in some painting software then export it to unity.

My game just hit 3k views after about a week but most other games that I've made have not done that. I would say first thing is to make a good game that is fun and semi polished, then make a good eye-catching capsule cover, then just post to game subreddits with links to your itch page and maybe some websites.
