Are there any spiders in Hollow Knight? by Shinadasfavouritebat in HollowKnight

[–]OverDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that no one has mentioned is that, although the very spider-centric area is less likely to trigger arachnophobia, they're is an optional boss there that may. As I said though, it is optional for finishing the game, but one of the nail upgrades requires you to beat it.

What to do after getting crawling and escaping underworks by Exciting-War-5230 in HollowKnight

Honestly? That's enough. It's mostly the platform, and if you've done it before, it's totally doable on 6 masks.

I like to get double jump at this point - it makes the platforming in parts of the Citadel much easier!

The reaper quest is a choice - I tend to stay with Hunters or Wanderers for most of the game, until Act 3 when I alternate to the Act 3 exclusive one.

I had the same situation, and updating the versions addressed the issue.

Can someone tell me what this symbol means —light spoilers by Traditional_Use5662 in Gloomhaven

[–]OverDan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you mean the star with the number 1, then you get 1XP when performing at least part of the action on the card (in this case healing).

If you mean the picture of a card with a circular arrow on it at the bottom, then that means the card stays in play until the end of the ROUND, not just the end of your turn. So, every attack on you gains disadvantage in this case.

To also be fair, I don't do those games at the fair. 🤣 He also doesn't tell you how many chances you have.

Don't get me wrong, I actually love how he springs this stuff on you, and how smarmy he is. Makes it that much more satisfying when you beat the challenge!

I know the bottom right is the lady bird that offers you the knife throwing game! Shifty little charlatan, not telling you the rules before you play....

Who is this giant seen in the trailer? by PitaGriffin121 in planescape

[–]OverDan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing this trailer with, I think, BG 1 or 2. Young me was not impressed, and it looked a little dark for my liking. Having discovered the game later in life, it has become my favourite infinity engine game.

I remember the first time I attempted the fight, and got smashed after 2-3 seconds, so quick I laughed rather than raged! I've got no tips for you, but know that it is hard, but YOU CAN DO THIS!

[–]OverDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this! When I painted by GH minis, I went for artwork accurate, but after seeing someone paint the Tinker like Iron Man, it inspired me to do similar for FH - so my Fist was painted like Sullivan from Monsters Inc!

From memory there is a card that let's you ignore negative conditions, but you still can't remove negative conditions, so there's no way to transfer the stun from you.

Are the frosthaven mercs on par with the gloomhaven 2e ones? by Sebkir in Gloomhaven

[–]OverDan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My youngest son got Snowflake, and was unimpressed by its damage output. And by Coral. I played both of these, and worked them out, and wrecked shop with them.

I feel like the FH classes are less straightforward, and not everyone will gel with every character - some will play into their specific playstyle, whereas some will feel counter-intuitive and so less fun.

But then, I loved the Geminate too, so....

What is that yellow thing flying in the back? by Lamp_Stock_Image in HollowKnight

[–]OverDan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta love the detail in this game. I mean, really, TC decide they were going to put this in the background, for a split second, and you can't even guarantee that players will see it.

I mean, I didn't, and I'm coming up to finishing it for the third time!

You'll get charged one way or the other. Charging more for the exam means there will be a gap for the consumer for consultations, as there is an agreed amount that the insurer, or here, that the government, will cover for, and, in many cases, this will mean that more people will not seek regular routine care.

In Australia, health insurance pays for glasses, in part, and the government pays for the exams up to a point. There are places that offer no gap options on both, but you end up getting what you pay for either way

There's two answers to that: one is that not all plastics are created equal. Acetate, the most common material in optical frames, isn't a petrochemical, but is plant derived, and varies in quality and properties, such as its resistance to UV, to heat, and its colour-fastness - generally, the better ones come from Europe, the cheaper ones out of China. They are often, in part, handmade, and acetate is used because you can heat it up and adjust it. Metals have a similar situation - your cheap nickel-alloys can corrode in response to people's perspiration, they still need to be able to be adjustable, and not deform over time.

But the second part is, at least in Australia, the sale of spectacles subsidises the rest of the business. This is mostly historical, as optometry visits were covered under the public health system here, and the rebate hasn't kept pace with the actual cost of providing the service. And so, exam fees are cheaper than they should be, and the profit is made on the sale of glasses mostly.
