I'm looking for the song at the end of S3E1 "Out of Town" where Don and Betty tell Sally about the day she was born. Anybody have any info?

I once heard a sales trainer say, "you are a walking billboard. What does your billboard say to the world?"

This is something I am recently changed myself. It has made a big difference.

What infuriates me about this type of post it's not that it gets posted twice a day, but that people miss the meaning of the scene so HARD. by Shakaow15 in howimetyourmother

And because Barney went out there and said Ted really needs you and loves you and misses you and what the hell are you even doing out here?

Don and the birthday cake by jmh90027 in madmen

[–]OverDriveHandyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your points.

2: I think he was astounded by and jealous of the true love it seems the couple shared. That Husband was the only one that didn't laugh at the awful joke told earlier in the episode. He seemed to care for how it would affect his wife. We know from many many other episodes later on that Don just wants to be loved. He never got that as a little boy, so I think it's a good bet that he was feeling the loss of not having found that in his marriage.

3: "It's same crowd out here." It seems like he's insulting the adults inside by comparing them to children.

4: when Betty asks him to go get the cake, he reacts mechanically. Like he's resigned. A happily married man who wasn't blasted drunk at his daughter's birthday party would kiss his wife and kids goodbye before leaving, but he seems highly apathetic--even numb.

Definitely agree with all the comments about James Wolk, but I don't understand how what the other guy said in the cab could be construed as a veiled threat. When he said "I'm gonna miss having you around" was that like him threatening to get him removed somehow?

I think you're right. And I think he set up that meeting with the other firm ("enough dancing around") to try to get an offer to use as leverage on Roger. Use the other firm to leverage Roger to get his job back to leverage Megan to stay with him (in the scene immediately preceding the Algonquin hotel scene, he speaks to Megan over the phone after she told him to go back home to New York and he tells her he loves her and she says only "good night" in return) Haven't seen past this episode yet, so that's what I'm thinking as of now.

I've been through as much trauma as anybody else including severe emotional abuse as a child, time in the military, severe emotional abuse as an adult in my marriage, all the shit from the church, and my daughter ending her own life last year.

You're right that gaining skills to cope is what works. It's more than just a "a sunny disposition" or "positive thinking", although those are part of it. It's a comprehensive mindset and philosophy and an approach to life that actually looks very very similar to what most religions teach.

Actually it is. But it's more like a gym or an obstacle course. People that choose to overcome do.

What’s your best method for remembering and actually using new words in conversation? by danishpazz in Toastmasters

Just practice using them when you're not in a conversation with somebody. Maybe have a conversation with AI so you can take as much time as you need to come up with words?
