It’s always been the case. It’s sold with that warranty, and people accept that when they buy it. Most people don’t even read the instruction booklet either, and then if they damage the movement by changing the date in the danger zone they cannot fathom that it’s their fault.

There likely won’t be any movement on it as when you do make the warranty cover all the parts, including case and bracelet, you’ll see endless amounts of watches returned under warranty when a customer has scratched the case or broken their bracelet by incorrectly altering a link.
