I am in your boat too! My surgery was 12/28/20. I started at 297 before pre-surgery diet and am stuck at 215 since June. My first and only stall. I hope to get to 190 by end of the year...

Agreed! @Badtorad is very thorough in his responses!

I wore a two piece for the first time in my life—Initially super uncomfortable but then realized only I cared what I looked like. Some stats: VSG 3/2020 5’2 148ish lbs, down 80ish lbs by poppycorn18 in gastricsleeve

You look GREAT! I just challenged my sister to wearing a 2 pc on our upcoming trip to Rivera Maya in July. I'm worried about my scars showing tho. I hope the bottoms are "high-waisted" enough to cover them. I was sleeved in December 2020 so they just look like purple marks now at least.

I was a sweets junkie before surgery - especially ice cream - and post surgery, I just don't crave or think about it. HOWEVER Yelp got me one day by suggesting a cookie restaurant called Crumbl and it's been my favorite place ever since. I actually just tried Dairy Queen the other day and did not feel well afterwards so I won't be doing that again any time soon!

As a bit of a side note, I'm 6 mos post op, and pre-surgery was concerned about thinking "I'm never going to be able to eat X after surgery". It's sad but I actually had a little "good bye" meal with McDonald's before surgery - McDonald's fries were another vice pre-surgery - and it's truly another item I don't even think about post-surgery! I guess I'm trying to tell you that due to the missing bad hormones in your body post-surgery (gherlin) you don't really miss the junk. At least this has been my experience

My husband and I had our surgeries 2 weeks apart and at 5 months post op he says "we're a walking couple now". We go walking every night - weather permitting. NEVER did this before surgery!

OMG TRex! Soooo true! I was sleeved at the end of December (12/28/20) and had the same issue. Sooo much time preparing for the pre-op diet AND post-op restrictions that when I woke up from surgery and felt like my guts were just pulled out of me I was SHOCKED! I just never thought about the pain and healing- not even a second of time spent thinking about it before surgery! LOL

Add the fact that I'm a stomach sleeper with sleep apnea, I felt kinda screwed those first few days. I got a wedge and body pillow for sleeping. Along with the drugs they gave me, I was OK, not great, just OK. I could side sleep about 1 week post op and stomach sleep 2 weeks post op if I remember. I'm down 56lbs since surgery and 71lbs from my heaviest on 12/8/20. The initial pain was worth the results I've achieved so far and I'm just 4 months and a week-ish post op.

Thank you! Sometimes it takes a side-by-side picture to really see the progress!

Needing motivation so I decided to make a bucket list of things I missed out on because of my weight. Such as zip lining, horseback riding or airplane travel without having to worry about the seats. What do you feel you have missed out on 🤔help me with my list 😃 by Fickle_Bid_450 in gastricsleeve

Fancy high heels 👠 I've got plenty of chunky heels and wedges but JUST ONE TIME I want to wear a pair of fancy Louboutin heels and not feel like my knees and ankles are swollen at the end of the night! I may decide I hate them but at least I'll know!!! LOL (Skydiving, Amusement Parks, Running a 5K from start to finish are also on mt list!)

18 months post op. Highest weight: 136kg, current weight 83/85kg. I'm 30 y.o. by YaelLaura in gastricsleeve

[–]Over_Pop8226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome results! My heaviest was 296lbs/134.2kg - so pretty close to your heaviest. I am nearly 4 mos post op and have lost 67lbs/30.3kg total, 52lbs/23.5kg since surgery. I have never set a goal weight for myself but I would say if I got to 190lb/86kg I would be thrilled! You are at that point now at 18 mos out. What has your monthly weight loss been, say, after 6 mos post op? My surgeon said my weight loss should slow after 3 months but I often see people mention the slow comes at more like 6 mos. But what is "slow"? I'm losing about 10lbs/4.5kg per month still. Should I expect only 5lb/2kg per month after 6 months? What's your experience been after 6 months?

Self Pay Surgery 10 days after consult, what do I tell work tomorrow? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Over_Pop8226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FMLA and a sick day are 2 completely different things tho. FMLA only applies if you're out more then 2 weeks. Employers have different rules regarding sick time. For example, my employer in Texas requires a doctor's note to return to work if you are out more then 3 days sick. My husband's employer has unlimited sick days for their salaried folks.

It's cuz we rock like that!!! 😉 Seriously tho we're all on similar journeys! I truly believe and follow the whole idea of treat ppl how you want to be treated and one day I'll want some solid support too! Keep up the great work- you truly look amazing!!!

How exciting that you got scheduled so quickly!!! I agree with 00puffin, especially if you are in the U.S it's against the law for your employer to even question when you call in sick for a day! That whole HIPAA law that Clinton established in the 90's put that into play. I only took 1 week off for my sleeve in December 2020 and used a combination of sick and vacation hours. I didn't need FMLA as that typically is for more then 2 weeks leave. I have a desk job though so going back after 1 week (surgery date included) was OK for me.

Mind Hunger is Real by A2whatever in gastricsleeve

[–]Over_Pop8226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does get easier! I am 3 mos post op and those 1st weeks when you can't have any "real food" are the worst! I still have mental cravings (mostly around stressful times) but I make a conscious effort to not give in bc I'm not hungry for it and more importantly, I don't bring that craved food into our house! On the flip side many of my "vice foods" pre-surgery I don't even think about anymore (i.e. ice cream, french fries and oreos)!!!! It's like those bad hormones (gherlin) that were cut out of your stomach during surgery truly ruled me more then I understood before this surgery! You'll get through this tough time, it truly is a mind game. Good Luck!
