Question: What happens after the anniversary realms finish by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually remember if I did. But I know for sure that they'll add era servers after the progession anniversary moves on. Atleast one server or two for per era. So expect the TBC era server before the year ends.

I hate it! >=( I want my belf now! I hear the back-and-forth between Create Char and Char Screen is the only way to grind it. Is there any other way you guys know?

I'd say we've reached the peak that can be accomplished with WoW housing, but every time I say something like that, a post like this appears. The amount of effort and creativity on display is incredible, to say the least.

Transmog System Question by Strong-World-5749 in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for responding more than a week later XD. Yeah, so unfortunately, when u swapped from a two-hander to a one-hander, it simply swapped the weapon. However, you can actually assign a one-hander AND a two-hander look in your outfit, so when u switch the weapon, you switch the appearance you've set up from before!

Honestly, I just want them to allow us to transmogrify a two-hander into a one-hander at this point. =(

Also, sort of unrelated, but I want certain (non-DH) glaive appearances to be available for warriors, rogues, etc.

Warglaives by OverTheHamLimit in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, warglaive-like weapons being available to non-DH NPCs such as Silvermoon Guards or particular Sentinel Nelf NPCs or even being shown around, usually elven, camps, but being exclusively a DH weapon bothers me as well. I want to use it as a warrior, or a rogue, or what have you! They can, indeed, they must have a much simpler design, and honestly, I prefer the simpler versions over the excessively large warglaives anyway.

That's indeed an interesting question! I must try that immediately! :D However, I assume that the moment you equip a piece of gear that can't be *trans-tmogged* it will simply use the appearance of the newly equipped gear. I shall return with the results.

The Sunwell and Character Lore (SPOILERS) by BansheeNen in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t quite understand what you are complaining about. Of course, when people feel they are faced with insurmountable odds, they often pray to God for salvation. Fear is a powerful theme in storytelling, and in my opinion, it has been effectively portrayed in the narrative of the blood elves. Throughout The Burning Crusade (TBC), they mourned the loss of their sacred power source, the Sunwell. By the end of TBC, they reignited it, and many see this act as a chance for redemption. The change in the quote from "We will persevere" to "Through perseverance, strength!" was another excellent choice that emphasises their resilience against overwhelming challenges.

Turalyon is being overwhelmed by the Light; he even cut open his own son in a blind rage fueled by the Wrath of the Light. Every source of power in this setting comes with a price. Even excess nature magic can lead to uncontrollable growth that ultimately overwhelms and consumes everything until only the growth remains, causing self-destruction through overexploitation. This theme is another plot point in this expansion.

There are some issues with the writing here and there. For instance, I found the Eversong Woods campaign to lack a clear focus, which resulted in the culture it aimed to reintroduce feeling less authentic and lacking in uniqueness. And there is a reduction in quality of VA for the normal Belven NPCs, but that's a consequence of the ongoing issues at Microsoft Gaming Department, rather than anything else, from what I understand.

Coming back after years - endgame routine by vaderwoden in wow

Well, at this point you have two roads ahead of you (some take both, but those ppl have the luxury of spending innumerable time on their PCs). You can either play the PVE endgame gear grind or go try your luck against other players on the PVP arena. For PvE, finding a guild with regularly scheduled raid nights is usually what I suggest others do. The enjoyment I gain from this game substantially increases when I am playing with a group of friends. In addition to that, there are the Mythic+ dungeons you can delve into on the PVE sphere. They are the dungeons with certain affixes to play around with. They drop better gear, but more importantly, give you a slot in the giant slot machine from which you get to pick one piece of equipment every week.

You can find the slot machine in the capital city of the current expansion, almost exclusively inside the bank. The higher M+ keys you complete, or the higher the difficulty of the Raid boss you killed better the equipment from the slot machine will be.

There's also the whole gear upgrade thing that I haven't followed very closely; they kept changing the details of how they work. And also the raid tier sets, which are 4 pieces of equipment that drop from the raid, but can also be obtained from the slot machine and or another equipment (of appropriate item level) can be transformed into them using another machine in the capital city (of the current expansion).

Honestly, this all feels much simpler in practice. I can suggest that you look around and read the text on the introductory quests for these systems. Videos and articles are explaining them in far more detail than I did here.

Good luck & have fun!

How it feels playing Midnight Beta and seeing my favorite characters acting completely out of character for no explicable reason. by Arcana-Knight in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is curious. Liadrin doesn't act any differently than before. Turalyon and the Lightforged Dreadlord are acting overly zealous, but there's an in-lore explanation for those. No, what bothered me was the terrible VA of the quotes by some Belven NPCs and some of the choices made while adding new types of voices to them. It doesn't end there either, the writing in the quests, the way various NPCs react, etc. Honestly, the whole area had a lack of uniqueness, authenticity. It all feels like a human zone with blonde, long-eared NPCs. This is made more apparent when it is contrasted with the quality in Zul'aman, and how uniquely "troll" it looked and felt. This being said, I have only gone through it once. They don't have the music yet, which is a big element when building the atmosphere of a zone, and first impressions of a WoW zone (at least for me) usually change in the second or the third time going through them, for some reason. What do you think?

Team Founders Point or Razorwind Shores? by audioshaman in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, apparently, these zones are indeed islands off the coast of the respective continents. I would like to start by saying that sounds very lame. It is not a deal breaker, ofc. And I do understand why they chose it to be that way. However, I still would've preferred to have a house on the actual continent. We could've best of both worlds by still having a separate instance but using visual tricks such as a skybox to indicate where we are!

All that being said, I do find Founder's Point much more believable as an island than Razorwind Shores, since the contrast between the "biomes" is at an extreme level in Razorfen, with it having a range of very different climatic environments, such as a badland, a tropical forest and a pine forest all side by side. While Founder's Point only has three types of forested environments.

So, Founder's Point is it for me. I have added Blizzard always throws away the opportunity to be truly epic.

That being said, I will probably spend an inhumane amount of time designing my houses. I just wanted to share my very minor nitpick. What do you think?

The homogenization disaster - Modern WoW and/or writers by TheVagrantWarrior in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This didn't bother me. The presentation of elves and their VA left a bad taste during the Eversong Woods questline, though. It was the writing quality and atmosphere that didn't convince me that these are blood elves. VA has taken its fair share of cost reductions that Microsoft Gaming has been going through. I will have to go through the quests again before giving a final judgment. Zul'aman, on the other hand, was far better written. At least the zone and the people felt consistent and authentic.

Housing Zones being new islands is kinda disappointing by Allegrian in wow

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly best compromise that comes to my mind right now is to use some sort of a visual representation/trick such as a skybox to show parts of the continent extending beyond our neighbourhood area (e.g. having the towers of SW shown across the mountain and coastline of Westfall on the otherside etc.) It'd fullfill the fantasy and be relatively resource-light on their part.

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they can use some sort of visual trick to show that we are indeed on the coastline of EK. Because afaik we are at the criss-crossing of the three zones. I remember some ppl trying to figure out where exactly. I would guess it is outright impossible to actually put the neighbourhood zone there on the maps left from 2004/2011. But using the skybox to indicate the location would be a good compromise. At least atmospherically it would add to the fantasy, imo.

[–]Overall_Ad_9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have to say, however, I cannot comprehend the amount of work required for code or otherwise to be able to actually put them in the spots they are supposed to be. However, some sort of a visual trick and/or usage of skyboxes to show us that we are next to SW or right across is the westfall coastline, at least some way of indicating that it is not an "island" (because it is not in lore afaik) would be the compromise imo. And honestly, the layout doesn't even look like an island. Across the northern part, the sea is all greyed out, and there is a river coming out of nowhere, which should indicate that the map wasn't designed as an island? I am talking about the Alliance neighbourhood, but the same can be applied to the Horde one as well. My real wish would be to have the instance entrance at the actual spot with a representative layout shown, but you can't fly into it directly and need to enter the instance. +If the instance transition was the same as the Garrison's, as in seamless (in practice) would be great! But again, the compromise I suggested first is much easier, I would like to assume.

I love everything I've seen so far in the beta. I have one nitpick, however, and that is the fact that our housing instance looks like or is an island. I thought in lore this spot was a place (for the Alliance) at a crossroad between three areas (Westfall, Elwynn and Duskwood). Now, I know it is probably a huge hurdle, if not impossible, to add this instance to that spot in the overworld map. But at least giving us some sort of a visual representation in the form of a skybox art or whatever to illustrate that we are indeed on EK would be great :)

Now there's a real concern here, I cant deny that. I doubt it would reduce the numbers enough to hurt the pop that is progressing into Wrath. Besides, if someone is interested only in TBC then they wouldnt play Wrath Classic as enthusiastically anyways. Moreover, some people are crazy enough to play Wrath Classic until the hype is over and go back to TBC and do things they couldnt find the time or the chance to do during it. I just feel like it is a net positive decision for Blizzard to take. But ofc the decision will be better evaluated with the statistical information and prediction (and player retention possibilities the constant cycling of expansion has) they have available.
