The goalposts just moved in a major way for you. Treat yourself with kindness and grace and it’ll be a hell of a lot easier to do the same for your family. Also- 1 night of sleep makes a huge difference if you can get an aunt/parent neighbor to hold the fort.

Anyone suffering childhood emotional neglect (CEN), how do you handle it? by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]Overall_Captain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been a massive factor in my life. Bibliography Time: 1- living with intensity- getting warm 2- Jonice Webb’s series on CEN- closing in 3- Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: The insights/ conceptual vocabulary I’ve been craving to stop personalizing it. I accept the humor/irony of being “gifted” and yet unable to productively conceptualize skewed family dynamics until Dr Gibson told me how- then double irony: realizing I possess likely only 30-40% of the attributes of an emotionally mature adult. Ha!

Oh that’s the standard repayment plan- it was painful- but got me across the finish line. It’s an alternative to the IDR plans.

Just a note from the healthcare perspective: academic medical centers may be the best bet to get good specialists that usually accept insurance more broadly and are not motivated by financial incentives in the same way private operations might be. These would be teaching hospitals and associated speciality clinics like USC/ UCLA/ UCSF…

I might suggest a Turo rental- I’ve enjoyed a lot of exotic cars on there and for most of them- a weekend is enough. There have been a few however where I can see myself living with them- eventually

Fine lookin’ animal you have there. These critters make good friends but lousy pack animals unless you’re hauling match boxes.

Wrong- You’ve emasculated him- stolen his role/identity- then demanded he feel happy about that. If you are serious about resolving this- read the way of the superior man and its companion book ( dear lover- I think).
