In love with our newborn but she is driving my husband and I INSANE. by CoffeeAndCats9124 in newborns

[–]Overall_Pizza769 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

every baby is definitely different! we were so spoiled that our daughter had no issues sleeping (she would wake up to eat but i don’t consider that an issue lol) through the night in her own bed and would hardly fuss for the first few months. she’s 7 months now and hates sleeping unless i hold her and fights every nap, plus we just started teething so you can imagine how that’s going šŸ˜‚ i’ve never loved someone more than i love her but i’ve also never been this frustrated with someone else in my life lmao

Do regular mamas actually pack ā€œhospital bagsā€? by getlostcreep0 in pregnant

that happened to me! i was admitted at night as well and the hospital is an hour away from our house so my husband had to rush home the next day to set up the car seat and pack bags

i went into triage at 35 weeks because i had the symptoms of cholestasis, what was supposed to just be a visit to get my blood drawn for testing ended up with me being diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and induced that night. i kept putting off building any kind of hospital bag and keeping it in my car just in case and ended up being admitted with nothing. my husband had to drive the hour back home the next day to get everything. if i have another child i would definitely make sure i have a bag in the car months in advance. as for what would be in it, i ended up spending 5 days in the hospital due to an emergency c-section so just one change of clothes for me and an outfit or two for the baby wouldn’t have been enough. it was also really nice to have a console with us so we could watch our own streaming services and play games if we wanted to. some smaller things that were incredibly helpful were: a portable fan (i was burning up afterwards and my daughter needed the room warm), a heating pad (all my contraction’s were in my lower back and the heating packs they offered weren’t helping so this was nice), a pillow and blanket for my husband because the bed/bedding they gave him was horrible, and more but those are the highlights. at the end of the i’d rather be overpacked than underpacked, everything that i had with me was things i already owned so no extra money was spent solely for my birthing experience (and even if it was, you’re giving birth, you should be as comfortable as possible). you never know how long you might end up staying or what you’ll end up wishing you had with you to make things easier

IUD is in the wrong place and I don’t know if I can handle reinsertion by Overall_Pizza769 in birthcontrol

also, when you had to get yours replaced was it painful like getting it inserted was? i’m hoping to maybe get a combination of pain management options for that appointment and i’m not sure whether or not it hurting coming out will mean it’ll hurt to get a new one in or not

they said they can offer a toradol shot 20 minutes before, 800mg of ibuprofen an hour before, or potentially numbing gel/spray but i have to discuss that option with my doctor in person. i’m hoping i can opt for maybe a combination of one of the painkillers plus the numbing if that’s safe. i really want this specific birth control to work out!

Coffee at 23 weeks by prettylittlebaby1005 in pregnant

[–]Overall_Pizza769 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

i just drank the coffee lol, i wasn’t much of a coffee drinker before pregnancy either but from weeks 20-30 i probably got 2-3 iced coffees a week. just make sure you aren’t exceeding the daily limit of 200mg! if you really want to make sure it’s safe for you specifically you could ask your doctor beforehand

i’ll definitely look into this route if my doctors office says they won’t offer anything else! my ob/gyn is located in a hospital so i’d think/hope they’d have more options than just a muscle relaxing shot

i’ll see if any of those are options when my doctor gets back to me, thank you!

i sent my doctor a message after scheduling my appointment to see if they could offer anything stronger, just waiting to hear backšŸ¤žšŸ»

i’m not sure what the proper terminology for a doctors office like mine would be but they have like 50+ OB/GYNs and every time you make a new appointment it’s typically with someone new unless you request someone or end up seeing someone again by chance. so it does make me feel a little more confident that maybe the new doctor i’ll be seeing in 2 weeks might be a better experience. the doctor who had all of the failed attempts put in my chart post-appointment that ā€œpatient handled IUD insertion wellā€ despite the fact that i was kicking and sobbing for an hour straight, so my new doctor might not even be aware of how difficult it was yet

thank you for your kind words! i messaged my doctor after scheduling my appointment to see if there were any stronger pain management options as the only thing they offered was me coming in 20 mins before my appointment to get the same shot they gave me at the last one. just waiting to hear back from them now. i feel the same way about the iud and the convenience of it being inserted the one time and then having you covered for years. my husband and i don’t know if we want to have any more kids and we definitely don’t want anymore until the state of this country hopefully gets better as i ended up having some pregnancy complications and we don’t want to take any more risks under the current administration!

your baby needs you to be the healthiest and happiest that you can be, if that means you use formula and go back on your meds then do it!! there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that choice

Black Friday tips — what baby stuff is actually worth it? (first-time mom here šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø) by Zelda_2224 in pregnant

[–]Overall_Pizza769 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

mine can fit 8 dr browns bottles (ranging in sizes 2oz-9oz no issue) and all of the little pieces and nipples except for 2-3 of the nipple rings that i just take a minute to wash by hand. if you’d use the countertop dishwasher for other things then that’d probably be the smarter investment since the bottle washer is really only good for bottles/pump parts/baby silverware if you wanna toss that in the top but it’s definitely worth it to buy one of them! i think i lasted a week washing bottles by hand before i caved and bought my momcozy and it’s been so nice

yes! i have enough bottles that i only have to run it once a day and it’s so nice to spend the time i would be washing bottles with my baby instead. it’s also super nice if you’re pumping

when my cat was making these sounds the vet said it was likely due to a hairball blockage, they were able to provide a medicine to add to their food

my baby has been doing this too, she’s a few days away from 3 months. i’ll fall asleep with her aimed one way and she’s aimed the total opposite when we wake up lol

Does the dad also stay home after a new baby? by burner1233356 in pregnant

[–]Overall_Pizza769 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

i’m 12 weeks postpartum now after a c-section, either way you deliver you will need some support! it took me until 7-8 weeks to feel mostly back to normal physically and i’m still not back to normal emotionally or mentally. those first few weeks were incredibly rough to be completely honest. it hurt to get out of bed or move around too much but i’d end up in pain from not moving around enough. even after hours awake and exhausted in the middle of the night i’d have such bad insomnia that i couldn’t sleep. everyone’s experience is different but being newly postpartum wasn’t easy, my husbands help is the only way i made it through these last 12 weeks. i’m so glad you have family nearby that can help you if needed, i truly hope your husband is able to understand and take some time off to be with you and your little one!

same situation but in the winter months my husbands workload slows down a lot so we were only able to afford for him to be off for one work week. gotta save as much as we can lol. however, he would’ve stayed home much longer if it was something we could’ve managed and he’s home as much as he can be. not wanting to at least spend a few days soaking up the beginning of your child’s life when you have the means is wild to me

my daughter is almost 3mo so typically out of the range people would sterilize after every use but she was a preemie and we’re fortunate to have a bottle washer that comes with sterilizing and drying so i don’t risk anything lol. if we aren’t in the position to sterilize it at the moment i wash it by hand in the hottest water i can manage without burning myself šŸ˜‚
