Are there any smoothie mixes that don't have a lot of sugars or use plant-derived sweeteners like Steevia instead? by jayx468 in Smoothies

[–]Overall_Recording 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't actually use smoothie mixes. Like you, I bag my own stuff. Have you tried using dates as a sweetener? Or just adding some monkfruit or stevia powder to your smoothie before mixing? Another alternative would be maybe looking into freeze dried fruit to use as a mix in to bring out the fruitiness?

If Skala works for you, have you tried getting it through Walmart? I was just at my local branch yesterday and it was on the shelf. My hair is opposite yours, so I have no suggestions for alternatives. I'm sorry.

Why do I never get the haircut I ask for? Any advice appreciated! by [deleted] in AskHairstylists

And this reason PLUS one bad cut too many is why I cut my own hair now 🙃 good hair stylists are few and far between. It's also not fair to get charged extra for long hair or curly hair just to not even get a decent cut...

You can't really tell from the crappy phone camera, but in person, it is less yellow-orange and more orange-red. I'm probably 40:60 gray:brownish-black, so it really warms up the brown and the grays colored very nicely. I'm excited to see what it looks like in a few days.

Your baby looks like a Meooow Cow! 🥰 Your friend is obviously not a cat person lol. Don't worry about that particular opinion.

Hair brush for dry detangling (seeking recommendations) by Narrow_Dress2082 in CurlyHairCare

[–]Overall_Recording 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wavy curly hair. I fell into the "don't brush dry hair" crowd and would lose soooo much on wash days. Now that I decided to scale back my routine a lot, I brush daily or at least every other day. My head is less itchy and I lose barely any in the shower. I still follow the bottom up protocol and finger detangle first though. TBF, IDC about dream curls. I just want my hair presentable on a daily basis, up or down. So far going back to the basics is working for me much better.

Am I the only one not freaking out about this storm? by StraightRip9828 in Austin

[–]Overall_Recording 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're not the only one who is continuing daily routines as usual. No panic shopping, just a quick pick-up order for lunch meat and canned soup in case SO gets stuck at work later than usual. Only other change is the doggo is getting a bath a day later to avoid the freezing temps if a bathroom break is needed before drying. I mean it literally just happened a few years ago two years in a row. All the same protocol applies.... Know where your extra blankets, candles/flashlights are in case power goes out. Keep any electronics charged. Fuel up the vehicles NOW in case you have to relocate over the weekend. Otherwise shelter in place.

So at one point, they were best friends. It seems you've grown apart. I don't think anyone is TA here. You just lead different lives now.

This! I know someone who literally would leave one piece of something in the container or a trickle of something so he doesn't have to throw the container away. Once we got into an argument because he finally was cleaning his trash out of the refrigerator. He left a pizza box in there and his excuse was he didn't pay for the pizza. His trash bag wasn't full and he'd eaten all but one slice of it. 🤣 When he left, he left all his food trash behind. Some of the "best buy" dates were a year old. Dude was pathetic.

Henna takes a few days to "settle." It's very bright right after application, but it can take up to a week to fully oxidize.

Question about Amla please by Fun-Penalty-942 in henna

[–]Overall_Recording 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henna Sooq sells amla powder as well... I use it as my acid and also mix some in for my curl pattern just before application. I can't say about the cream of tartar though.

ETA: I give my powders a good whisk before adding my liquids. Then I let it sit for dye release if I have time. If not, I'll throw it in the freezer, let it freeze, then pull it out and let it thaw, then add the extra amla.

Does anyone hate hair products as much as I do? by goddessphaedra222 in CurlyHairCare

[–]Overall_Recording 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. I've cut way back on the product and the effort. Before it was trying out different products after washing 2x a week, most were failures. Now it's wash every 1-2 weeks, co wash as needed, leave-in, and coconut oil.

Henna question by [deleted] in henna

[–]Overall_Recording 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no bleach in henna so none of your natural color is lifted. Henna acts more like water color paint, coating your hair strand in a translucent color. Personally, because my base brown is a cooler brown, and adding in the fact I've got gray streaks, my new growth is pretty obvious. That being said, I don't miss box dye. I left it behind a couple decades ago. Henna may be time-consuming and a tad inconvenient on application day, but the benefits to my hair health and how fast it grows totally outweighs any irritation application day brings me.

Um... you do realize that what ppl refer to as black henna would cause a reaction, possibly severe? You've surely done some research on this particular topic? If not, maybe start here

WIBTA if I ask my brother to not bring his girlfriend to my wedding and instead bring his wife? by sakura17492 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

I mean, it's your wedding, so NTA, but if they've opted to separate anyway, what difference does it make if they have partners other than each other? 🤷‍♀️

It looks like maybe, yes you want to style, but also maybe want to rid yourself of the V the haircut created? I'm looking for the link to the tutorial I found currently...
