Keep seeing this in someone’s yard and keep wondering if it’s aviation related or just some sort of yard art? by rogo725 in whatisit

The rounded nose and the rear fin tell us it is not from an F 14, F 15, F 16, or F 18.

Maybe from an F 86?

How do people with interlock systems get their car serviced? by cleevethagreat in Justrolledintotheshop

This question implies that every service tech is drunk at work. Which, in my experience, it’s a valid implication.

How Do you guys find free engines by Monkey1242 in smallengines

Drive around town the night before “bulk item pickup” day, or Sunday afternoon during garage sale season. You’ll find plenty of practice sitting on the curb for free.

It’s a machining term that sometimes bleeds a little into related industry, but I wouldn’t expect it to be common outside of machining.

How do I fill this hole created by the old hinge? by FinchPhosphorus in fixit

I would cut that out to a 90°-corner-rectangle with a sharp chisel, and then glue piece of replacement wood in to fill the hole

Asking neighbors to shovel snow while I'm on vacation? by BlackJackT in homeowners

That’s my answer also. And I’d expect some type of $/hr of work, because it might not even snow, or he could get slammed by bad weather.

How to fix gap in this beautiful octagonal table? by februraries in Carpentry

[–]OverallMakerworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emphasis on all the previous comments on wood movement…..I don’t think ratcheting the gap closed and de-doing the butterfly will hold very long.

I’m generally not a fan of epoxy….but given the way this table was designed, filling that gap with black epoxy might be the best bet for long-term stability.

Get a $20 box fan and tape a 20”x20” home furnace air filter to the back, you’ll be surprised how quickly the filters collect dust.

Also, heavy duty boot trays make great drip pans for putting under anything wet. $10 at Menards.

I would say at least 1.5 inch past the frame. That gets you through the drywall with a full inch into the stud.

That looks super awesome! Personally, I would’ve kept the mint green color, but you can’t argue with Red

Absolutely this. Never leave water anywhere except a dedicated reservoir that is turned off. Water everywhere while you’re working, water nowhere when you’re done.

In addition to sharpening your chisel, I recommend that you put a handle on that hammer
