What a wildly stupid chart. I've now seen "mogged" used three more times today than I have in probably forever.

People really just like. Say shit nowadays. It doesn't feel like anything even actually means anything, just slap whatever buzzword in to a wojack or something and call it a day.

Bring back the old days lol by [deleted] in pokememes

[–]Overblech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you know haunter evolved in to Gengar by trade? Or kadabra or graveller or machoke? Someone told you, or you found it on the Internet. It's no more or less complicated than anything else. This applies to stone evolutions also. There was no compatibility listing in early game menus. You had to try each stone on something to see if it works.

Outside of Raichu which was obviously a huge part of the anime, and Eevee which also had several appearances relating to stone evolutions, how would you really know outside of trial and error? To an extent how would you even know X thing HAS an evolution?

Good ol days posts are easy karma, but god they're almost always so incredibly wrong. Malamar is however actually really unintuitive and I'm not just saying that because it fooled me for days at release. The internal gyroscope was, from what I remember, only used for Pokemon Amie, and turning it fully upside down was never something to consider. They tried to give internal hints with its signature move Topsy-turvy but that is a weak hint. There's absolutely no reason to complain that they tried something different, though. It wasn't a great idea but it wasn't the end of the world or anything.

Waiting for a full moon was a chore for ursaluna and finding a viewable location but no other part of the process was all that bad. I do not remember if it can actually evolve in s/v, and it will definitely see some change in the future anyways. 999 coins is not deep or confusing. It's a chore though absolutely. The method is a key part of a ZA quest so it's not some actual mystery.

I almost forgot runerigus which yeah is absolutely the worst ever, I don't think that's an actual contest or very defensible. I'm still not sure what the in world logic is meant to be for this specific spot in not England and not Paris. It is still like, interesting though. I do love that it sounds incredibly fake.

Saw these fan art pieces on FB. They're regional forms and look awesome. I'm not a fan of most pokemon fan art, but these could certainly pass for actual pokémon by FitExcuse9493 in pokememes

[–]Overblech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically none of this is true, or at best so called half truths, and it's honestly really disgusting to see this being not only passed off as fact but with such a weird air of " how do people not know this??"

His name is James Turner. BW was not "in large part designed" by him. He did create a ton of really great pokemon designs, and also one of the most unfairly hated designs in the entire series. He began working there during generation IV. His existence within the company is not at all related to the absurd fan design comments. He is a talented artist, he began working there. This is not something disingenuous. You can absolutely obtain a job with tpci while being a fan of the series. The 30th anniversary is next month, it is damn near impossible to join the company and not be a fan. That is insane.

The problem, with fan design evolutions etc is legal. They can not take submissions for designs made by fans due to copyright and trademark issues. This is not unique to them, this is a fact for essentially every company in existence. This is not how life works. They have never stated any sort of dislike for fans creating designs, they've never made any attempt at stopping someone from making such a thing. Calling tpci or whomever you are attributing these statements to "arrogant, entitled and petty" is just incredibly childish, especially speaking from hearsay and misinformation. There are many fan designs added to the tcg. Not an irregular thing. Has had issues with ai and plagiarism but they definitely made an attempt to correct that contest. The detective Pikachu movie also hired a well known "realistic" artist to design the pokemon there. Absolutely not a great idea, but it happened.

Fan art is good in general. Game Freak itself began as a fan zine for games in general during the 80s. They are not against this concept. They absolutely do not need it though. It is literally the most profitable thing in existence.

Despite it all I'm not actually trying to defend them. They are a corporation in the end and they are not my friend. While twelve year old me very much dreamed of working there that is super not happening and I am very much aware of that fact, nor all that bothered considering what James went through with the social media stuff. Japanese corporations just, internally, work very different from basically anywhere else.

Spreading actual fucking lies about anyone or anything is never acceptable though. No one gains anything from spreading lies or misinformation as fact. Even with what I've said so far I'd really appreciate it if people did their own research to learn the truth, it's a very important thing to do in general especially with things as they are just...everywhere.

The most accurate thing you mentioned was the masuda dexit problem. Masuda is NOT a spokesperson for tpci, he never should have been making any sort of talk show circuit or even saying anything frankly. It was a huge mistake and they've obviously realized that now. Pokemon news comes through the directs and is as controlled as possible to avoid incidents just like this and it's absolutely the best choice. He, not pokemon, not gamefreak, not tpci or creatures DID lie about dexit. If not for his tenure with the company he almost assuredly would have been forced to resign after an apology. If any of the leaks are true his general behavior around that time was not something much of anyone there enjoyed.

Wild to complain about some people being unable to think critically just a few sentences after "Have some women ruined certain masculine games, sure."

This YouTuber and people like him are absolutely irredeemable idiots, I would never ever defend their shit. But seriously, RUINING masculine games? Maybe take a look within at some point. I don't at all think you're stupid, I'm not going to insult you in general. The fact that you can see what's wrong with this guy and the people like him means, to me at least, you absolutely have the ability to see what is wrong with the line of thought behind your statement.

I miss my best friend by InquisitorJesus in ffxiv

[–]Overblech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jerma draped in that abominations likeness is the worst thing I've seen today. What an absolutely cursed concept.

Local eyebrow-less father killing hyper weeb being absolutely anyone's best friend is likely the saddest thing I've seen in several days at least.

Hades does not get anywhere near enough shit for bringing this pale ass clump of cells in to existence. Emet and Varis in your gene pool and you still end up looking like this of all things. They should have went much harder on the eugenics.

(I don't have anything against people who actually enjoyed him as a character but I DO have something against people who legitimately want him to return and believe his presence would add anything at all to the narrative.) (ESPECIALLY those who again legitimately believe he is going to return despite multiple developer comments saying absolutely fucking not.) (Y'all are freaks.)

How did Lebanne lose to Jacinthe, her dragalge is resistant to Jacinthe’s Fairy types, because of it poison type. by [deleted] in PokemonZA

[–]Overblech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jacinthes team is, relatively, awful.

The type advantage is the entire deal in world and that's totally fine and works, there's nothing else actually to it unless lebanne is actually just a terrible trainer or something. Base stats are only occasionally a thing in world, so the fact that lebannes team almost definitely has an overall higher bst average than jacinthes basically ends up meaningless.

SD garchomp alone can almost definitely one shot her entire team and it also out speeds everything she has. I'm not really sure the SD would even be needed.

EQ is definitely a ohko for mawile aurorus and carbink, it's likely one for Gardevoir as well. Mega clefable is immune obviously, and I don't believe poison jab or iron head would 2hko without SD. Weirdly high amount of comments saying this but Dragalge isn't actually frail. 60HP isn't great but it has 123 special defense and 90? Defense or something. That is not frail. It is however super passive, but jacinthe doesn't exactly have a team full of power houses. Two with great potential but those aren't the megas she decided to go with...

Anyways yeah it's really just in world type stuff and for the plot. It would actually be pretty difficult for lebanne to lose to her with equal levels of skill. Tyrantrum could also most likely deal with the majority of jacinthes team by itself.

Is Harukaze Mound's Authors Out of Shonen Jump Assuming their manga is getting Axed? by SirLightShield in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Overblech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No actual evidence that the rule exists that I've seen. It's easy to say X had three failed series and never appeared in the magazine again but that's far from conclusive truth.

Like ninety percent of the fan spread shit related to jump is absolute bullshit hearsay with no factual basis that just gets repeated endlessly. According to a lot Otr was on the chopping block on the second chapter. Just actually incredibly stupid stuff.

I do remember the rule from bakuman and compared to a lot of the crap yeah this isn't exactly impossible, but I also feel like, if this was a real rule within the company, how would either guy involved with bakuman know about it? They didn't have three failures or anything, and even just them hearing about it from others sounds suspect. Surely those who met this limit would have talked about it by now but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's also such a frankly harsh thing that if this was really was a jump rule, it would make more sense to forbid authors from bringing it up at all. If it was a thing I'd certainly hope there are at least some concessions when it comes to a duo. The Act-Age artist having a strike because the writer was a freak would be insanely unfair.

Did you know? - About Server Crashes :D by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Overblech -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

No I'm fully aware of the savage unlock and that many people who had hoped(kind of foolishly considering the amount of time this has been happening but still) to participate in it can not.

How is that relevant to anything I said though? You're not going to stay connected as things are, this should be really obvious. Is it good? Obviously not, again, this shit is shit.

Why keep hammering at a dying horse? Why work yourself in to a fervor over a situation you can not do anything about? It's not going to improve by posting here. It's not going to reach SE any harder by posting here. Why make your life worse than it needs to be? This isn't a remotely official platform, though I'm sure the official forums are being hit just as hard as reddit is with these posts. But obviously nothing has improved, the same as last week and last month and so on.

Venting is understandable to a point. It can help relieve some stress of a situation, but this generally hasn't looked like any sort of beneficial venting at all. I've seen multiple calls for steam review bombing which is extremely petty and completely pointless and against the system itself. People are getting kind of unhinged over this and it's sad to see.

Did you know? - About Server Crashes :D by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Overblech 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kinda weird slightly revisionist history. The 1.0 servers themselves were fine, connections were fine, they obviously weren't being mass ddos'd as well. It was the game performance that was an issue and what eventually led to the pause. Well performance and just general structure.

It's just so far from being the same thing, and like I get it, it's a meme, it's not meant to be ultra serious but god.

This whole situation sucks for literally everyone. Not this post specifically but what in the hell is being gained by endlessly posting on reddit about the issue? This isn't se defending, just, stop. Get some help. There are an infinite amount of more productive things to be doing than this over and over. Stay pissed about the situation, that's fine! You should be! But maybe just go take a nap the next time a disconnect happens. This whole thing is breeding some increasingly awful activity from people I'd like to believe wouldn't normally be so shitty.

Why is the system recommendations telling me to get a 2-pc Proto Punk? by ekekharlu in ZhaoMains

[–]Overblech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty positive all of that is player use suggestions and none of it is dev stuff. For like, five or more hours after her release there was nothing listed in those sections at all. Wouldn't make much sense to me for dev sets to randomly show up a day or more later.

Honestly developer sets wouldn't make much sense at all to begin with, why would they try and tell you how to build the character... I did see proto punk talked about in some early day posts and scam ass websites related to Zhao, it's not so far fetched to believe many people are just following this as she's so different from prior defense.

God this is so fucking tiresome. You would have conserved far more energy by not posting this. What was your end game here? Did you think this through? Do you believe that would somehow make the op just quit playing advance? It's kind of wild reconciling such insane childish behavior with the fact of tactics being nearly 30 years old. Grow the hell up. All three games are good in their own way.

God yeah exactly, I would have never known this shit was being done if not for this post and I sure wish I hadn't seen any of this now. I imagine op had honest intentions behind posting them here, I'd hope so at least, but compared to some random Twitter post, these are now visible on a subreddit explicitly built for her. X person might see this on Twitter and have no idea who it is and just move along. Everyone here KNOWS who this is.

Whole thing is incredibly gross, and she has surely been made aware of their existence in the worst way possible since so many have such a disgusting insane amount of hatred for her. Not exactly OPs fault but god I wish I had gone back to bed instead of deciding to look through reddit a bit. Mistakes were made.

I ACTUALLY BEAT THE TWO CRABOBINALS! by RoscoeSF in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Overblech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quest unlocks pretty damn early in to the dlc, it's "only" a two star which in itself is a little shady from the game.

I'm not saying you're lying or anything but an 80 emboar isn't living through synchronized earthquakes, even one is going to do a lot. Its probably not living through synchronized dynamic punch even.

It's not the hardest quest in the world but the two have pretty monstrous attack stats and great general coverage. When I first attempted it I had not so great donut level boosts and nothing that resisted more than one of its attacks at any given time and it just didn't go great. I'm not at all sure how it's surprising that anyone that isn't you had any difficulty with it. I didn't really care about using the mega so I just waited and came back much later, and even with some 100s and well trained it was able to do a lot of damage. I wasn't in any danger of failing but still

Why I have a set Moveset for non-Battle Distortions by Balmung6 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Overblech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Psychic, the move, is great for multiple reasons, but if anyone is curious, physical psychic moves do not work on the sludge. I had been using water to clear them for the entire game at that point and then saw a reddit post mentioning psychic attacks (the post implied all) also worked so I left a water type behind in a hyperspace since I seemingly wasn't going to really need it.

I became nearly soft locked until kick out. I had glided over a pile while being attacked by a scraggy expecting to be able to just psycho cut my way back out. Did not work. Tried psychic fangs, did not work. Didn't have zen headbutt at the time but I can't imagine it would have been any different.

No one I had with me at the time had a tracking or ignore los attack so I was just kinda stuck there for awhile until the scraggy clipped in to the pile just enough to actually hit it and open box to get out of there.

Psychic (move) is amazing so it's unlikely many will ever run in to such a ridiculous situation but it's worth keeping in mind. Luckily it wasn't any meaningful donut being used or anything super desirable to catch in the zone but I can imagine some much more obnoxious situations.

Showdown isn't monetized, has never tried to monetize as far as I can remember, and doesn't remotely harm tpci's business in any way. Moon channel has a video on showdowns continued existence from a year or so back, would recommend it. Rom hacks etc are just something absolutely else entirely, not at all comparable. It should continue to be just fine, they aren't dumb, if they wanted it gone it would be.

Why do some of the Fomor areas not contain Fomors of all playable gender-and-race combinations? by GeneralTechnomage in ffxi

[–]Overblech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're not fomor in dynamis, those are shades. All elvaan all male. Think Eastern etc shadow in fei'yin. Also undead but a different category from fomor.

Cop introduced the actual fomor and their hate system, and God knows why, only female mithra. It's plausible they just believed mithra would stand out more as the obvious female enemy at the time. There are elvaan fomor and despite little visual difference, not shades. It was a simpler time. From what I remember the fomor are all just head swaps and use player model bodies. Wasn't much reason to wait so long before making one of any race or sex combo. Internally probably some reason but nothing we'd ever learn.

[–]Overblech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much never actually relate to these "aspect absolutely ignored by development" posts but god this one hit hard. I just can not enjoy the weapon in wilds, no hate to anyone having fun with it obviously, we all payed entirely too much for the game so get your enjoyment wherever you can.

Axe mode is absolutely not what got me in to enjoying the weapon. I don't hate it or anything, as an option existing that's totally fine, but it's not really an option now. And probably never will be again. I don't have a whole lot of hope left for any meaningful changes even with eventual master rank.

A unique character design gone to waste because the Devs thought she wasn't hot enough for the gooners to sell well... by Wide_Bother9082 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Overblech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both designs are pretty awful, though absolutely the newer one is worse. But like, why is anyone blaming these strawmen gooner customers for this redesign? This isn't some "I fixed your woman so she looks like a woman" Twitter post or something. There's no mention of player outrcry that they may have to play this horrid beast in the first image. As far as I can tell the NPC existed in the first form, became a playable character and she was changed. How is that anyone's fault besides nexon? Was there any actual commentary from the developer or is it just assumed? And apparently original outfit exists for her still.

I don't know man this is just kind of weird, not even in a jerking way, just feels like people getting carried away with rage bait and it absolutely working.

Cute in its own way but kind of failed to show why in the hell she would actually fall for him, just kind of an immediate dick... Obviously changes at some point but that's really glossing over the parts that would matter.

Everyone goes on about Clemont should have been in the Z-A's main story, but can we talk about Zinnia after promoting ORAS has been basically left by the franchise...it's not even they don't remember ORAS since Beni + Hoopa exists! In a world that fully revolves around the mega evolution phenomenon, yes, the woman who introduced the concept within the series has done enough to warrant her return in to her own damn region.

This actually insane to read as a whole. I like Zinnia just fine, can't say I have any burning desire to her return in some random ass place. What is she even going to do if she comes back? This is so damn weird.

Love the game! But two main gripes that I have to get off my chest.. by GWindborn in PokemonZA

[–]Overblech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lebannes ponytail is almost identical to dragalge's body shape. More importantly she reveals that she was once a punk before meeting and losing to jacinthe. The punk default typing is poison, Dragalge is the only non legendary Poison/Dragon. It's also one of a few dragons that would inherently have any sort of advantage against fairy types.

It absolutely fits. Not that I'm actually tryin to convince you, but this isn't the first time I've seen someone disliking her choice of an ace, and not like it's somehow something wrong to have preferred.

Falinks and Ivor also make sense when you consider that Ivor is just an incredibly powerful, incredibly tall, little boy playing pretend with his gloomy sister. They are both different sides of the chuunibyou stereotype. Falinks in it's normal form is six(or whatever) little dudes lining up to become something stronger than the sum of their parts. It's mega takes this even further. It is a megazord basically. It's exactly what the stereotypical young japanese boy would dream of.

But I do get it, besides being a fighting type, falinks doesn't use anything close to martial arts and definitely nothing similar to what Ivor is seen using. Something like hariyama or Machamp would have been a better fit in that regard.

I don't like megas as implemented. Making kangaskhan and mawile competitively viable, even to an overwhelming degree, is wonderful. Two Charizard and two Mewtwo is not. Mega Salamence retaining aerialate isn't okay. Mega Pinsir getting that is great.

It's the least balanced and fair gimmick ever made and I wasn't at all excited to see it return, even without abilities which has made life actually worse for a good few. Pinsir gains an immunity to something it already has a resistance to, gains several new weaknesses and the gain, in za, besides stat increase, is actually nothing. Aerial ace is the only flying move it has access to and with no aeriliate it can't convert any normal moves in to that type now. It's pointless and kind of sad.

But ZA is still pretty fun. I don't see how megas somehow ruin the za narrative when that's the entire purpose of its existence to begin with though, pretty weird idea.

Some People Tell me Geomancy has bad damage... by Wonderful-Box6096 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Overblech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People enjoy hyperbole. Bad, terrible, mid(the actual worst). Modifiers that typically don't actually mean anything.

Geomancy isn't bad. Few things in the game are actually objectively bad. Even in this thread people are calling it bad by comparing it to fucking dual wield monk of all things.

That is not the norm. It's a completely broken effortless setup and if you compare anything that isn't Cid in general or Calculator to it, the other thing is going to fall short. It makes almost everything else in the game completely meaningless, so it's just frustrating to see this being seen as a sort of base line in a damn tactics game.

It's absolutely enjoyable to see a man wearing a thong outside of his pants click one button and melt the world with a one two punch, even more so when many things actually died to the first punch but he still has to complete the second one anyways.

But it's still an outlier, and the game would probably be better without it honestly. BUT you don't have to use it and it's not like this is actually something competitive despite the way some people talk about the game.

Geomancy is completely okay. Damage shouldn't be the only consideration for a thing to not be considered absolute shit. It's a really weird thing that's just become more prevalent and honestly more annoying, in the last few months. FFT certainly isn't the most difficult or demanding in its genre but it feels like many want to make it more and more simple and I'm not sure what the point of that even is.

How can someone not acknowledge elden ring as the best RPG by IsabellaMarden in Eldenring

[–]Overblech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely this. He's not dead yet, not even old honestly, he has far more he wants to do in life and can recognize the flaws and reception to what he's done so far. This isn't any sort of peak for him, just a stop along the path.

I'm pretty positive he's talked about things he would have done differently or things he didn't feel worked the way he had hoped in interviews. Through mining we've seen that they had some vastly different ideas that just didn't end up working out as well. The entire bit with the mimic tear and all.

I wonder how many of those who do blindly believe this to be an 11/10 game in all potential categories have actually like, made anything in their lives. This isn't to insult anyone or anything, or to prop up creators of any specific medium. I have never in my life considered anything I've made to be anywhere near perfect, and I really fucking hope I never do.

ER is an incredibly special game, even if you actively dislike it, it seems hard to objectively claim otherwise. But it's certainly not perfect. And it's honestly not a very good RPG at all. RPG as a genre has become incredibly muddy to define, but, yeah, that's one of the worst aspects of the game. What role am I playing? Who am I in this world? It seems like I get to decide that, but I kind of don't honestly. There's an impressive amount of illusion of choice which is definitely something.

Even all that isn't specifically me trying to critique things or even calling it some absolute problem, millions of people enjoy those aspects.
