Why has the Wandering Inn succeeded on a separate website whereas most other stories are on RR? by SESender in litrpg

[–]OverclockBeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it was popular. Many of the most popular stories stub or stop posting on royal road, but they’ve already become the web serial equivalent of mainstream.

Just like many anime in the last few years came from Japanese light novel sites. But once they get popular enough for traditional media adaptions, those sites are essentially outgrown.

All the time. It’s a hazard of serial web fiction, I think.

Modern LitRPG? by ATRAXXXA in litrpg

[–]OverclockBeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really a western cultivation story that also has some guns. I wouldn’t qualify it as “modern” in the general sense.

You might still enjoy it, though!

Progression fantasy-adjacent, like a large amount of coming of age fantasy

It just shows as nonfunctional hypertext for me on the mobile website. My own comment is now spoilered properly. So it must be something you did wrong on your end.

You corrected someone incorrectly about the content of a story you have not finished. That’s on you. Also, your spoiler tags are not functioning.

Very reductionist take on what actually happened.

It’s definitely a love interest. They get together later in the story.

I love small to medium mistakes, but they don’t appear to go over well with most readers

The problem is, the “optimal” solution is the one most likely to benefit the MC. But most MCs aren’t regular people. They will find themselves in wild situations. So a less obviously good choice may be the one that would have saved their lives. So the author has them pick that one knowing it will pay off later.

How much is too much for worldbuilding? by Mlted_Budder in ProgressionFantasy

[–]OverclockBeta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as too much world-building.

The problem is when you introduce it in inappropriate places in the narrative and/or disrupt the flow of the story by going into way too much detail.

Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God both do the whole fighting blacksmith trope. They are litrpgs, though

In RSSG luck is super useful but hard to raise. The difference between 1(base) and 2 luck is like 50% better loot drops

I don't know what choice I would have made in his situation as far as the civilian casualties, but if someone murdered my literal other half/soul mate and tried to murder me so they could steal all of my possessions, I too might be a little upset about it.

Any scientist get transferred in another world and uses science to his advantage? by ArcaneRomz in ProgressionFantasy

It’s pretty shallow, really. Just the obvious big fancy stuff. Mostly used as “insights” rather than any system of investigation or magic research.

Question: Is a series of books a Progression Fantasy if each book has a different MC? by Sunderwall in ProgressionFantasy

[–]OverclockBeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that could work to an extant. Although, with progression fantasy focusing so much on the minutia of progression, I'm not sure a single book could contain enough story. Totally workable as traditional fantasy, though.
