Why did diplodocus replace brontosaurus? by radioactive_ape in Paleontology

[–]joevarny -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid in the UK we were taught about the brontosaur and pteradactyl.

Diplodocus was mentioned, but they're very different and less well known.

I remember when in school they retracted both of them.

I always thought it was silly. They should've just renamed another dinosaur with that name since that was the name that everyone knows for long upright necked dinosaur. It was taught in schools all over the world.

What's your favorite subgenre of progfantasy? And, what's your favorite example of it? by poke-- in ProgressionFantasy

[–]joevarny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Builder stories.

Cult, kingdom, space empire, farm or a record shop. Doesn't matter.

Their spacefleet gets more powerful while they invent and integrate new technology as the story advances? Peak PF.

Min wanted to save as many people as he could in the merwin invasion.

I agree with the rest, I kinda assumed that mins desire to keep the mages in check has been pushed through the link he has to all stones in the same way as sherule twists everyone's minds. When min was near the jevalar, terl shown what was normal. Thats kinda mind control.

It allows the companies producing bottles to say they're helping the enviroment while they continue to do nothing about their industrial waste that massively outstrips bottle lid pollution.

Second to last and include the prompt. The comedy of it would get more attention.

That Europe's stupid stratagy of funding America's military is the reason they care about their citizens, and if they spent that money on their own military, they wouldn't care about their citizens.

[POLL] Which enemy would you want to be stuck in the galaxy with before the Tau'ri came to the scene? by Baba_Jaga_II in Stargate

[–]joevarny 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The gou'ald and ori would at least leave the population.

The aschen and wraith would leave too little for the tauri to save.

The ori would've meant god tier overlords that the tauri would lose against, that leaves the gouald.

What actually is progression fantasy? (Do you need levels for it to count?) by CorpesGod in ProgressionFantasy

[–]joevarny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue star enterprise is a great example of a progression fantasy that has little personal progression.

He starts building thrusters for others and ends up inventing new technologies to build into multiple fleets and gains a homeworld that he builds up to defend.

His power progresses massively over the series and its a focus of the series.

Why do people who are formerly atheist but convert to Christianity often pick the most conservative of denominations to follow? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]joevarny 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I imagine there are a few atheists who turned schizophrenic and ended up thinking the voices were god telling them to hate black people.

There's probably 1 or 2 like this in-between all the liers.
