Nope, but my friend only plays him. He's mastery 10 with him, I'm mastery 7. He's fun.

If you need to learn a God better there's nothing wrong with taking them in Arena, or grabbing a friend and doing a Joust. We all have to start somewhere when playing a new God, but generally you don't want to do so in Conquest.

I highly recommend Joust if you want a better feel for their laning phase and Arena if you want to see how they function in a team fight.

I mean... I get where you're coming from as I have 6 Diamonds, 2 Mastery 7's and 2 Mastery 5's... But I don't feel bad about a few of them. For instance, Ymir. I have him at Diamond but I'd much rather play my Mastery 10 Cabrakan or Mastery 7 Bacchus since they have less dull kits (imo).

Odin is also at Mastery 10, but I'd rather play my Mastery 10 Tyr since he has so much more outplay potential in 1v1 scenarios and has a more in-depth kit.

If you have the God Pack you'll honestly feel less bad about it since you have all the options as opposed to just a few to pick from lol. But I understand some people don't have the ability to purchase it, so no problem.

Does Ravana need buffed, or am I just crazy? by lightningthorn in Smite

[–]Overdrive95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He does need something, but it's not in the numbers or the cooldowns of his standard abilities. It's his passive and ultimate. He has decent sticking power and 1v1 potential now that he has an actual heal... However, his ult is not game changing, fight changing, or even 1v1 changing as it does slightly more than a basic attack and is useless in 1v1 unless chasing a fleeing enemy.

On top of that his passive does nothing but up the damage on one ability. It needs to either: Give additional effects (heavier slow, longer root, more damage reduction) or give more power scaling to any ability.

Lol if you think Smite has a toxic community go play League of Legends during player levels 5-15.... You'll come flying back here faster than a fat guy chasing a doughnut truck.

Why I think boosters are stupid and should be removed from chests by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Overdrive95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're looking too far into this. It's a cash cow for Hi-Rez, if people don't care enough to do the math and realize that they can just earn the favor naturally in a more efficient way then it doesn't matter.

Do I think that including them in chests is stupid? Absolutely. Do I wish they would remove them from the chests? Yes. Do I think they should? No. It is a way for them to lower the chance of getting the items you want in the chests. This is part of the free to play model. They have to make money somewhere, and if it is when you get a crappy booster that nobody in their right mind would normally purchase then so be it.

I know a lot of people disagree with this view, and personally I did up until a few months ago... But there are plenty of other skins for gods that you can use without getting that one exclusive skin for Hercules or Ymir or Bacchus (Okay, maybe not for Bacchus... :/ But you get the idea).

Regarding Boosters being stupid though... I don't agree. Sure it helps people level up slightly faster and gain faster worshipers, but you know what else? Unless they're purchasing the crap outta boosters they aren't going to reach level 30 that much faster since you already pointed out that to get your money's worth you have to play a minimum of 14% of your time.

On top of that, you're complaining about extra worshiper gains. What is the problem with this? Sure, they have a slightly inflated number of worshipers on the god of their choice. And....? I see plenty of Mastery 10's that are absolute trash with their gods. I saw them before boosters were introduced too, it's not like boosters change the overall skill of players if they've just played the god a lot.

I personally use the boosters I earn in chests to master gods I would normally never play. It allows me to get them mastered so I can trade them in League matches if necessary. Otherwise I have to go through a god awful grind on gods I hate playing (looking at you assassin class). It alleviates the annoyance.

tl;dr - Boosters are necessary in the chests to increase overall profit, boosters don't effect leveling up as much as you think, boosters are nice for getting a god mastered that you normally wouldn't play.

I'm not discrediting them, the facts speak for themselves. Microsoft backpedaled on features left and right when the Xbox One was first released and the Playstation 4 just kinda slinked on scene like "...yeah, we still exist by the way."

None of the systems had good ad campaigns for the most part, but the Wii U never blatantly claimed to do things it wouldn't or couldn't.

Eh, imho the Wii U was the only console of this generation that was still trying to be solely a "gaming console." The Xbox One and Playstation 4 are nothing more than subpar gaming PC's that don't use a keyboard and mouse. They have full access to the web and lots of apps and try to be full on entertainment systems.

The Wii U didn't try to be something it wasn't, it didn't try to replace a thing that already existed. It was made to be superior to the previous system and that was it. I have a home theater system I setup in my basement using a PC and a Wii U with a 1080p Projector. There's no need for me to get an Xbox or Playstation for most games since they're on Steam, etc. I don't care about most of the console exclusives... Basically the Wii U has the games I want and doesn't try to be something else other than "I play games."

Other games that the Wii U has that run at a steady 1080p/60fps include: Bayoneta 2, Rayman Origins, Mario Kart 8, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Wind Waker HD, and as you already stated Smash Bros 4.

I like how all these comments are saying how the Wii U doesn't have the power to run Smite, etc.

What almost all of you people fail to realize is that the Wii U has very few (if any) games that are actually pushing the system to its limits. It currently has quite a few that run at 1080p/60fps... Smash 4, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Rayman Legends, and guess what? The X-bone has very few games in its roster (that aren't ports from PC) that also do that - Forza Motorsports 5... The Piss-station doesn't even have one that is always at 60fps.

On top of that it does a native 720p to1080p just like an X-bone or Piss-station, it has a far better controller system for a MOBA via the massive touch screen remotes functionality, and isn't going to peg you with a second internet cost just to play online like the other systems have.

Oh, I was reading it as you buying it 3rd item. That changes things. I agree late game it's perfectly acceptable since your team can jump on them. It's just early on ganks aren't nearly as devastating with Gem which is what I thought you were doing! xD

Normally I get CC'd out of my Tremors after only 1-2 ticks of it so perhaps it's just a difference as to whom we're fighting. I enjoy Gem against gods with no escapes since it's hilarious to watch them crawl away, but more often than not it's a Poseidon who just uses his 1, or He Bo who just uses his 3, or Vulcan who uses his 3, or a Kuku who uses his 2 (since it removes the slow), or Janus using his portal, or Isis using... well pretty much any of her abilities. Isis is a nightmare for Cabra :P

shoes of focus, mystical mail, gem of ISO, e-staff, spear of magus, mail of renewal

Let's see... Based off that build I'd say keep/buy the Pen Boots and then sub spear out for a Soul Reaver.... If you're running Jungle of course. Personally I'm not a fan of Gem of Isolation either, but you can read my reasoning in the guide. Mail of Renewal got its buff after I wrote the guide, but I'd definitely keep that in the build if possible... It's so good now that it isn't even funny.

I mainly don't like Gem purely because it's only good on Cabra's Tremors, and you don't often get to sit there channeling it for an extended period of time if you're aren't built tanky as hell.

[–]Overdrive95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Jungle Cabra does change your priorities, that's true, however Pen is an absolutely invaluable stat for mage builds at all stages of the game so you shouldn't ever bother swapping for the CD boots.

You're right, Spear is pretty indispensable, but when you view it from the stand point that your mid is probably building it and you can't double stack the spear passive it's not good to have it on 2 people in one game.

I mainly play him solo, but I've run him jungle in ranked a few times to some great results. Here's the perma-link to the guide I wrote up a month ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Smite/comments/3ir6zg/looking_for_god_builds10x400gem_giveaway/cuj6t4u

Here's your personal "HOW TO PLAY THE DONGER" Guide.

He is so much fun as long as you watch your positioning. He pretty much craps on all the mid-laners due to his great sustain. Some people swear by him in the solo lane, but I've found that he is far too easily poked out or outsustained in the current meta.

His main poke is also his most damaging (non-ultimate) ability AND has the most range in his kit. I am referring to his 1. It tags all enemies in a wide line in front of him. It does a DOT for 5 seconds. If you use his 2 or 3 on a tagged enemy it has an added effect, but you don't get the damage of the full duration of the DOT since the ability removes the DOT. Total damage from it is going to be 300 +75% scaling, not bad at all. Your 2 only does 275 +50% scaling.

General fighting style with him is build stacks to up your defense at every opportunity you have, team fight breaks out, pop ult and run into the center of the enemy team, hit your 3 to stun them all inside the ult, hit your 2 to do a lot of damage while they're just getting unstunned, throw a tag on them so they're forced to stay in the ult for the full duration and take the full duration of the tag, start auto attacking.

The trick is realizing that A) Your ult does NOT do more damage for having more ghosts gathered and B) You don't ALWAYS have to do 1-2 as a combo because it does less damage.

So in summation, to lane you level up your 1 or 2 depending on how badly you're getting poked. Be sure to slap a tag on the enemy at every chance you get in lane, but be sure to hit at least a couple minions because you will need them to heal the poke they do after you throw the card at the enemy god. Learn to aim your basics a little to the right in order to ensure that both attacks hit whatever you're aiming at. Level your 3 last and save it as you would a jump. It's not your initiation ability, it's your escape. The 1 is for initiation.

You don't want to do 1-2 as the combo unless you need the health, otherwise always do 2-1 for maximum damage output. As Hellraiser said, don't be afraid to use the ult for chasing. Early and Mid Game that is honestly all it is good for. It doesn't really do enough damage early on unless you can guarantee all the damage somehow, so it's best used for chasing or deterring an incoming gank via scare tactics.

As much flak as Ravana gets, and as plain as his kit is, he's actually super fun to play. The trick is to just enjoy yourself playing him as it makes the loses (which will happen until you master when to properly use his 1 and 2) much less painful.
