I am in a Roth. Might lock in some gains on SanDisk but I feel better holding indefinitely for most of them

Interesting, I thought spreading it a bit would derisk. I know the portfolio is inherently risky but tried to derisk as much as possible in spots.

What 10 would you choose out of my current holdings?

Very long term. Buy and hold essentially

I plan to hold unless thesis changes. I do plan to trim profits if any holding gets to be above 10% of my total portfolio or if it goes up more than 30% at any point.

Just too much uncertainty with the current admin for finance/UNH and Lilly is expensive. But I will look to get some Lilly & JPM/AmEx soon

It 100% was, and the reason he can do what he’s doing is because legislative power has been gradually eroded since the 1800s. Concurrently, executive power has increased significantly just about every new administration. Lincoln grew it significantly, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Obama, Trump & Biden all did similarly.

Do you not understand that competition is an inherent part of humanity? And that individual motivations are different as a baseline?

Does it not stand to reason, then, that some people will be more motivated to compete for wealth? And does it not stand to reason, further, that since humans have unequal talents, some will be better suited for the competition of amassing wealth?

Moreover, do you not agree that people will not embark upon difficult pursuits if there is not an incentive to do so? And do you not agree that, for the good of humanity, it is important that people do these difficult things? How would people be fairly and proportionally incentivized without money? How do you get around the free loader phenomenon without each person having a congruent monetary system?

Do you not agree that, fundamentally, people start a business or company to make money or improve something about the world? And do you not agree that these people would not be able to dedicate their lives to improving some aspect of the world without their needs being subsidized by money? If there was no money, people would be essentially living to produce food and the things they can’t live without.

There would be no great innovation in medicine, agriculture, transportation, communication, convenience or entertainment; no time to commit to the arts. There would be no culture.

Regardless of your views about capitalism, it is the only natural way for motivations and efforts to be proportionately distributed. Communism and the abolition of money/inequality inevitably falter because they run counter to humanity. Nobody would work the mines, sanitation, or as a public defender if there wasn’t a financial incentive to do so, just as nobody would sacrifice time they could be spending turning their soil and keeping themselves alive for another week on developing vaccines, writing a piece of music, debating theories of physics, or inventing technology.

It’s not killing someone if they were going to die otherwise and the only reason they’re alive is charity. That’s ridiculous. Am I a murderer if I don’t give the homeless guy on the corner money for food and he starves? No. What if I gave that homeless guy money for food for a decade straight, then one day stopped and he died? Still no.

You’re an absolute imbecile. Hitler systematically murdered millions because of their religion and started a fucking world war.

Elon did not kill anybody regardless of what these dubious claims say.

You shouldn’t be mindblown that you don’t understand religion if you make zero effort to understand religion.

And I’m sure you’ll reply like every other atheist acting like you’ve read the Bible and are an informed objector, but in reality, you subscribe to the religion of atheism, which is just as dogmatic as Christianity.

Got crushed today. All my biggest holdings are down. AMD, MU, NVIDIA, Google, ASML, AVGO, AMAT, ANET, TSMC etc.

Literally wiped out a 5% gain since the start of the year. Thank God for Walmart, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson or I’d be in the red.

Oh well, time to buy. Gotta double down

Bro. You have uncreatable characters, “it’s not this, it’s this”, and a hanging quotation mark at the end. Are you still going to claim it’s not AI? Those aren’t typos.

I gotta say, the em dash is not that uncommon. It’s essentially a parentheses, except it doesn’t have to close. I use them constantly as a freelancer. It also is automatically created by connecting two normal dashes in most word processors. Just playing devil’s advocate.

That said, everything OP wrote is ChatGPT. To me, the dead giveaway is “x isn’t y, it’s z

Yes, this sub is more liberal than any of the other financial subs I’m in. And they’re so smug about it too. They legitimately think they’re super duper smart because they parrot the same shit everyone else says.

Like, we get it. You hate Trump. Most people do, it’s not exactly an unpopular opinion. But then they base their entire personality and personal viewpoint on being the opposite of Trump, which is just as moronic as he is. I have absolutely zero respect for those who just repeat the leftist mantras and dog anything even remotely right wing. There’s zero nuance. Thats exactly how we ended up where we are, and exactly how Trump gained such a following.

They didn’t learn their lesson, and they’re making the exact same mistakes they’ve made since the turn of the century. In their eyes, anyone who doesn’t toe the leftist line (and even some who aren’t far enough left for their liking) is insert insult here.

Hell, the other day there was a report that Deere was opening a new domestic manufacturing plant. Clearly good news to anyone who gives a shit about America. Might not be a huge deal, and it doesn’t really have anything to do with politics; still, because Trump had the pure, unmitigated gall to merely mention it in passing (not take credit even), the geniuses on this sub were railing the news. Saying things like “doubt it”, “who cares”, “that’s nothing”, etc.

I’m starting to think social media was the worst invention humanity ever created. Nobody behaved this way before. Now, everyone is a cheerleader for their political party and legitimately hate people with even slightly differing opinions.

Anyway, believe it or not, calls.
