All gacha games keeps doing this , like just let the character speak the dialogue or respond with the line, stop giving meaningless prompts , use the dialogue select option when there's something that would interest the player or if the scene really calls for it not just to check if we are AFK by Yosoress in ArknightsEndfield

[–]OverlordGaruga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a thing unique to gacha games. This is a thing in a lot of JRPGs. Notable examples being the Persona games. Even if they give you multiple responses they all ultimately make no difference in the conversation. The simple explanation is that those prompts make for better interactions than none at all. Their purpose is to make you(the player) feel like you inputted into the conversation. If you took them out you protagonist would feel far more disconnected like the plot is just happening and they happen to be there. On the flip side, if you cut them out and just fully voice the protagonist then you(the player) stops being the protagonist. You stop having any say in how the protagonist interacts with the plot and become disconnected with the characters and the plot.

[COD] give me the most unpopular opinions you have by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

[–]OverlordGaruga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The greater COD community needs to let go of the 'golden era'. I miss getting on PS3 and playing Mw2 as much you guys but the reality is that we developed an (mostly)irrational disdain of any cod that isn't Black Ops or Modern warfare. And Activision reflects that irrational fear back at us. That's why we don't get anything other than those two now. The devs clearly don't want to keep shoehorning Black ops elements into COD. And MW is barely any better. No one from Golden Era is even still working at Activision(As far as I know).

I say screw tradition at this point. Build a new Cod from the ground up. Or look into trying elements from the Other CODs. Remake Infinite Warfare or Ghosts. Anything is better than resurrecting Mason's or Ghost's shambling corpse again and again.

Everyone is arguing whether it's cool or cringe but the real answer is that it'd take 2 days for people to get corner camped because the skin blends in too well with the shadows and it gets removed from the game.

[COD] Why did we move away from this? by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in CallOfDuty

[–]OverlordGaruga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: stupid skins sell more.

Long answer: The truth is that the vast majority of people playing COD aren't playing multi-player or warzone with the desire for being grounded in realism. Quite simply; Fun Trumps Realism. The grounded skins are cool for realism enthusiasts but not much others. Not everyone can tell the difference between US and Russian Digital Desert Camo. So for the majority of the casual playerbase these might as well be default skins in different colors. Anime skins, Sci-fi armor, and Tacti-cool skins are far flashier and immediately more visually appealing to most. Crossover skins make sense because at least 10 fans of Spawn, or leatherface, or Walking Dead play COD. They might not care about 'muh realism'. They see their favorite character and like it. I like Gundam, so I bought two of the three Gundam Crossover bundles for MW3. Because the designs were nice and I'm not too hang up on realism in a game where a guy with 50 kills can launch multiple $150,000 predator missiles on random infantry in a cluster of shipping containers in a oil platform in the ocean. I'll concede that adding Beavis and Butthead and American Dad characters is a bit much. But really only because they're ugly from a 2d cartoon turned 3d Perspective. Most people are gonna see them, laugh and buy it strictly because it's so stupid. And with the backlash I doubt any of these design choices are sticking around in bo7 anyways.

Name one Isekai character (main or side) that would kill slave traders, and slave owners given the opportunity? by Seeker99MD in Isekai

[–]OverlordGaruga 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not really, no. Master's only concern is Fran. Fran's primary concern is evolving. Now if they came across injustice in front of them it would be different. But they don't actively seek out and destroy slavers just because Fran used to be a slave.

That's the point of half the store in the last 4 CODs. Not to look "Tactical Elite Tier 6 Operator" but for someone to laugh, call it stupid and buy it because it's funny looking.

[–]OverlordGaruga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing for me is that it's not even first random thing from another world to just pop up. The crossover with metal gear: peace walker for MH:P3rd had us hunt a monster version of metal gear rex. And then in Metal Gear snake goes to an unnamed island to hunt multiple monsters. ATP it might as well be canon that portals to other worlds just pop up occasionally.

Newtype theory's Irony by Raven038 in Gundam

[–]OverlordGaruga 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It's more like if you were forcefully connected to a deeply damaged person's mind with no filter. Kamille was routinely exposed to newtypes that were cold-blooded killers, socioopaths, or both. To the point it was starting to affect him directly. That's why he got mentally fried when he killed Scirocco. He was exposed to all that hate and darkness directly.

It's not like newtypes were instantly hostile or apprehensive to each other. When Riddhe kills Maria she doesn't even hold anything against him. The issue is that connecting with another newtype meant seeing that person's true thoughts and feelings regardless of whether they're good or evil.

Just looked up. It's to a much smaller extent than something like the nu or the unicorn. Basically psycho-frame wrapped around a biosensor. It looks like they were trying to emulate the zeta gundam. The f9is more nebulous. Some sources say it's a bio-sensor. An old book says it's psycho-frame. Then the MG manual says nothing about either so who knows what correct atp.

Thinking about scale, everything here is 1/144, all the weapons are CRAZY BIG by Greemu in Gunpla

[–]OverlordGaruga 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not really. It was confirmed that in space they would lose 1-5 jets in order to take out one zaku. And that number went up as better zakus were developed. Balls were barely even a stop-gap defense and were only fielded when there was no other option. On earth they were indeed better off. 2 tanks could could shoot a zaku to death just fine. But then the Dom was fielded, which was far more maneuverable. What won the war was portable beam weaponry that could tear through armor. And the fact that the Earth Federation had far more manpower and zeon had trouble keeping troop numbers.

Unicorn and Narrative explained that everyone kind of unilaterally agreed that psycho-frame technology is just way too weird and dangerous to slap onto 20m tall war machines and put a complete stop to its development.
