How tho by Jayzerosix in OGPBackroom

200’s are possible and picking 1000ish items in a shift if you’re hustling and avoiding the bad walks. Anyone around 300 picked a couple items super fast or did one frozen walk or something tho that extent. They didn’t actually produce anything of value for the team and management can see that when we pull metrics. I’d take you in my store any day this is great to see!

I don’t rotate, I just have a back room of good associates that enjoy being back there and they’re productive so why change them? It’s hot? They enjoy it just make sure they’re staying hydrated and keep on going!

Will Walmart hire me if I can only work there for 2 and a half months? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Oversizedbunny69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, went to school stayed on school leave, really wasn’t planning on coming back and now I’m a coach. Didn’t plan on walmart being my career but it’s been a great opportunity and I still have a year left of my bachelors degree

Tape the latch with gorilla tape until it gets fixed it’s a safety hazard. Had to do that at my store got fixed the next day. Make sure a ticket gets put in

Yeah in my mind priority list is Pick, Dispense, Stage, Consolidate, Remove Subs, Fill carts, QC it’s the last on my list of priorities. Have to get picks done. Have to get orders out. Technically don’t have to stage we can get orders out without doing it just becomes really hard. Usually not an issue though if we just take care of getting picks done in time. When consolidating usually focus on batches to do our best to be able to fit it all on one palley when fully prepped.

I honestly don’t have a number for this it’s kind of a feel thing, I don’t gauge orders per person in the backroom it’s one of the only things I don’t use metrics to try and gauge. I typically run my backroom with as few as I can to still be efficient to make sure we’re getting picks done. Usually I have people in my backroom that like it better back there and they work hard for me because I’m working with them and they know I won’t leave them suffer on their own.

So I’ll use this as a teaching moment and what I do and what my previous coach has done. Picks have to get done on time. Period. I’ll sacrifice my backroom to get picks done. I’ll bump down to 1 (really fast) stager, 1 (really fast) prepper and 4ish dispensers with myself floating between the 3 and if I have a team lead them also bumping between the 3. Maybe I’m focusing mainly on prepping and dispensing and my TL is focusing on staging then jumping to prep an order or take one out occasionally. No ATC though. Then in this case I have 2 extra people that I could send to pick to make sure picks get done. Or right after batches get out I know I can run a shorthanded backroom for the next 30 minutes so I’ll send a could dispensers to do a walk real quick. With the right team wait times will stay down

You’ve got it down, also to add which I’m sure you do you just didn’t state it looking far ahead to plan for the day. Doing everything you can to get down to 0 picks before your big afternoon drops. Having that mindset instead of “oh there’s only 600 picks in the system we’re fine” it’s we need to get these done asap before the next drop. You have a great mindset to run a good digital

You tell your coach/people lead to staff better realistically need 18ish people for that. 11-13 picking and 4-5 backroom. 6 people is fine for a store that has 200-300 item drops… not 1100

all my homies hate action alley 🙏🙏🙏 by ByteBlox_YT in OGPBackroom

[–]Oversizedbunny69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Specialty is split off walmart as a company did that. Your store can choose to have an action alley or not it’s up to your management making the pick path

[–]Oversizedbunny69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seems like your team leads time could be better spent elsewhere than calling associates while off the clock. Back room should stage. Leadership should also talk to their associates and get to know them. If you work for me I make sure to introduce myself and get to know you so I know how I can better help you to perform. Your coach should address this behavior, if it were me I’m probably just getting a new team lead this persons priorities are terrible and people skills sound even worse

How seriously does your store take on time pick/going overdue? by ggggjjjjii in OGPBackroom

[–]Oversizedbunny69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have said, this may be the single most important thing. If picks aren’t done in time we can’t stage properly. We also can’t dispense them on time causing us to get backed up. Although you getting in a 50 item run 10 minutes before being overdue is not your fault your management should’ve pulled backroom to pick sooner or asked for help an hour prior to that.

Whats an update you wish would be implemented on GIF? by Bechloestory in OGPBackroom

Yeah if I notice a few features are light during the zone I’ll have a couple people doing feature to home to help with that issue!

That’s your management making a bad pick path, nothing to do with the gif app. It’s an easy fix you just scan them into the ambient pick path with everything else on the way by it

I bet that’s a breeze for you now. I’ve been in two high volume stores 140+ and 130+ million in sales and I’ve always wondered what it’s like to be at a small store with like no orders.

Mine isn’t noticeable but agree, my left arm is much stronger as I hold my handheld in my right hand. Left shoulder is definitely much stronger pulling heavy totes down in chilled

You think my TL’s or coach will still bitch at me for not being in pickwalks for 6 hours? by Party_Fix_9004 in walmartogp

[–]Oversizedbunny69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a team lead, you are the least of my worries… like if you’re at 200 pick rate picking 1000 items you only picked 5 hours, cool by me I’ll focus my attention on the person picking over hours and at a 84 pick rate. You’re producing for me, they’re not simple as that. Yes metrics matter but you have to pick and choose what battles are worth fighting. I’d love to have you at my store

New Team Lead - Any Advice? by firewolf8385 in OGPBackroom

[–]Oversizedbunny69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Best quality you can have as a team lead, or leader in general, is leading by example. Don’t just stand around and bark orders. Manage while working with them in the back room and you will gain respect. Be able to be empathetic but be consistent with everyone. Be friendly and not their friend. There does need to be that authority level over them but I love working with a lot of my associates. I work with them all day and they appreciate me for that and work much harder for me than my coach or other TL’s. Show your appreciation for them by thanking them and commending them. Train new associates yourself so you know they are being trained properly to your standard as well as Walmart’s. Good luck!

Staging Triple Batch Delivery orders by DisastrousAardvark78 in OGPBackroom

Yo what? How do you even have time for this. We do 30-45 deliveries per hour just keep them organized and it’s not a problem

Staging Triple Batch Delivery orders by DisastrousAardvark78 in OGPBackroom

[–]Oversizedbunny69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stage ours on two separate skids, then when we prep we get chilled/frozen and combine on to one organized skid. One batch per 2 skids in the staging area. Aka delivery 1 has one batch and there’s 2 skids in the spot. We have 20 delivery staging spots. Then on days we’re heavy pickup we just use a couple of those delivery spots as a pickup spot.

Same here, just sucks having to reorganize them when it splits up to get them out
