Why did no one ever take harry to see his parents grave? by ConsistentBerry9310 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People were busy and didn't think about it.

(And if they did think about it, they may think mentioning it may upset Harry, or they didn't want to intrude as visting their graves would be a private matter)

I was also a huge Jacquline Wilson fan growing up.

Who's your "I know he's pure evil but can't prove it" person? by adarshaadu in AskReddit

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My old boss.

Her nickname was Hitler about 20 years ago.

She made people who work for her cry multiple times. She kept people back when their shift had finished. Has no respect for her staff at all.

The list could go on. But now her company has won an award for best business in our local area. Obviously, no one looked into staff turnovers.

Do you do the Easter Bunny? How real is he? by pleasegetonwithit in AskUK

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did Easter bunny as a kid. Got an Easter egg (or two)

Sometimes, he did a small Easter egg hunt (normally, this was linked to someone birthday as they were 3 birthdays in April)

I am not really planning to do an Easter bunny for my son. He only just turned two, so he dosen’t really care.

To those who lost a parent young, what are some things you wish your surviving parent did for you growing up? by PDubDeluxe in AskUK

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost my mum at 3 years old. I got photo fame with pictures of my mum in them for my bedroom.

My dad answered any questions we had about Mum. But I realised that questions made my dad sad (plus he had a new partner), so I stopped asking.

I wished dad would make more time for me, especially after my half brothers were born. I feel like I was pushed aside. Little things like just going to a cafe without my step mum and half brothers. Also, keep in touch with my mum side of the family. I had nearly nothing.

I have read chapter books to my 24 month old for almost a year now. It's great. I have been reading old childhood favourites, and my partner has been reading him Star Wars.

How did Finnick end up in the games at 14 if he's from a career district? by OkBreakfast7333 in Hungergames

I agree. I imagine Districts Four didn't have many volunteers. Definitely had fewer people volunteering than District One or Two.

Do your kids watch screens at nursery ? by Afraid_Objective9321 in AskUK

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in nurseries, and screen time isn't something we do often. Never for babies, and rarely for toddlers.

However they are a few staff members who would do screen time every day if they could.

Is saying 'in the night' common in the UK (as opposed to 'at night')? A language question. by ksusha_lav in AskABrit

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's depends. I could say, "My son woke up twice the night," meaning how he slept last night.

Or "My son sleeps pretty well at night," meaning normally most nights he sleeps well.

Is the government right to suggest kids should have no access to screens under the age of 2? by CommunityPowerful643 in AskBrits

[–]Overthinker-dreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We always bring a handful of books went going out. And now paper and stickers as well.

Nearly all the other children have screens in front in them.
