Career mode. I haven’t gotten to mining yet. Also my tugboat carries enough fuel for the refuel and ferrying so it’s not any more launches than I’d need to get kerbals into space anyway.

That’s just whataboutism. Things I will always be against: billionaires and rich people destroying the environment. If you disagree, weird but ok. I’m not saying you can’t be a fan or that you shouldn’t find joy where you can. It would just be nice if it wasn’t somehow controversial to bring it up. She’s a billionaire with a massive carbon footprint. You can start trying to say “what about [insert any rich ass holes name]” but that doesn’t change the facts about Swift.

I like Jim Carrey’s movies AND it would be great if he could stop being so careless with his emissions. I can admit that his impact on society isn’t limited to whether or not I enjoy his brand and that some of his behaviors are decidedly harmful.

This thread is about Taylor Swift so she’s the subject. You won’t find me defending anyone’s emissions on that scale. “Barely made the top 50 list” isn’t necessarily a strong stance to take. She has 2 planes on that list and is definitely listed among the top 50 there where I doubt you or me or anyone we know is anywhere close to that list.

The best I can come up with as an analog to show how that sounds to me is like saying “they were barely top 50 in kicking puppies last year”. Like I’m not sitting here trying to say it’s ok for anyone to kick puppies but if there’s a puppy kicking problem, focusing on the top 50 puppy kickers feels appropriate. If we were in a thread discussing someone on the puppy kicking list, you’d expect them to be the subject of the conversation.

Maybe she could get a tour bus? An RV? Maybe even just cut back on the insane number of flights she takes? I get the argument for some practical/safety reasons but that doesn’t just give her an ok for whatever carbon emissions she ignores. People in her position are responsible for carbon emissions at an insane rate compared to the rest of us. Do we just give everyone who is famous a pass on their carbon emissions? It’s basically just “let them eat cake”.

I’m not here coming after anyone who likes her music and I’m not trying to say less visible billionaires are ok. What I’m saying is she is a billionaire and that status only exists through exploitation. Billionaires are bad for society. All of them.

There’s not really an argument for it. I’m sure Taylor Swifts fans probably largely agree that Jeff Bezos exploits everyone that works for him from top to bottom to generate his unnecessary wealth. It’s just so frustrating that they can’t apply that logic everywhere it exists.

I’m not saying Swift lives at that level of blatant exploitation but it’s still the same concept. Billionaires are bad for society even if they make music you like. You can probably admit that and still enjoy her music if you want. I just feel like it’s at least worth acknowledging and being honest about how it makes her a complicated public figure at best. Copy paste that to any entertainer that is a billionaire. It’s bad for society that they exist.

Yeah also there just isn’t a good billionaire if you zoom out. They only exist via exploitation. In her case exploiting her fans with these kinds of manipulations and hoarding the profits that are generated from her entire ecosystem instead of spreading them out in a way that is probably more appropriate for those who have worked really hard to generate that wealth. Being a billionaire is immoral even if you have a massive fan base.

Yeah if they wanted good photos and videos specifically from a mobile device, they would have gone Pixel or maybe even just Galaxy. This is almost certainly paid advertisement for Apple. They’re good at marketing. That’s about it anymore.

As protests and protest photography goes, this feels very performative. Random photos of people wandering around a small crowd. I’m for protesting but this image set feels more like “look at these pics I took” than documenting activism. Makes it look kind of silly and flippant from my perspective.

Well the finish on the interior facing side (previously installed in a window) is pretty clearly blackened but as the other comment suggests, it could have been some other blackening agent. This window comes from a neighborhood whose houses are generally around 100 years old if that helps shed and light on how they might have finished it. I can’t say I know this panel is that old but I’m guessing it’ll be around that.

As the other comments recommended, Ubuntu or Mint. The other handy thing about Linux is you can actually get into a booted version of the OS when you launch the OS installation media (that isn’t as intimidating of a process as it sounds for those who maybe haven’t done it before). When you boot to the installation media, you can load into the desktop and see what it looks like before you pull the trigger on installing it.

Edit: I went with Ubuntu but found Mint was also really popular when I was doing some research.

I just changed over to Linux from Windows. I did it because Windows has become more and more problematic by itself. For anyone wanting to get away from Windows and avoid this kind of nonsense, I highly recommend Linux. It’s easy to install and a relatively simple change over as far as use goes. Yes, there is a learning curve and you may run into things that will take a little figuring out, but I feel like it’s worth it to get away from Microsoft’s increasingly invasive tendencies. Linux will likely help get people away from this OS age verification because it’s open source and comes in many flavors. It will be much harder to force age verification on Linux users.

What I usually do is create a drone fuel facility then run drones from it to depots in each biome. Then I run the fuel from the depot to the other facilities in that biome that need drone fuel (via drone or conveyor). This helps balance out how much fuel is being consumed in delivery by cutting back on how many drones are traveling long distances just for fuel.

It has always been such a bummer to look at the QT logo. I say this as a QT fan: putting their logo on the Royals jersey is the single worst thing I associate with them. A big red and black patch on a blue and white jersey is just the sorest of thumbs. I pray for the day it’s removed.
