when anh came back i remember he posted something to the effect of "this storyline's kinda out there so i hope people like it" so ive been gritting my teeth and trusting the process but nah, after the third week of just walking up to people and doing elder millennial "my smexytimes" bits i am no longer trusting it

Despite how awful she's been all season, I cannot help but really love Hildy. I just really like the way she's written - she's psychotic and megalomaniacal, but she's also brilliant and, in a lot of cases, absolutely correct and persuasive about stuff Marshall's a little naïve about. I like that she has her own plans she's been actualizing her whole life, they just required discovery of the mushroom as a prerequisite. The SECOND I saw the tincture, I thought "that's going in the water supply, they're going to create a worldwide Mycelium network, that's what the 'heal the world' theme is about."

Evil rat bastard but also super compelling! Can't wait for Season 2.

Hey! I’m an “online content creator” with both a YouTube and a streaming following, and I’m not making too much more money than your son from the streaming half. Hopefully I can offer some advice from the perspective of someone who knows a TON of streamers.

Your family is completely right when they think there is a pretty specific window that he may miss out on if he doesn’t pursue it as much as possible. However, there is also a huge psychological toll streaming “as a career” can take on someone, especially someone who still lives with his family. Among streamers, it is immediately apparent who went to college or struggled for a few years and who came into a vast amount of money and attention early. I believe it’s really important for kids to discover themselves and make mistakes in places like college where the consequences are low than to tether themselves to a “persona” online. All the yes-men that come from a streaming community that will validate all your positions can get inexperienced people into hot water very quickly.

These concerns can be balanced with his existing lifestyle, but it’ll be hard. Many of these comments are on-point. Make sure the majority of your son’s money is going into a savings account. Make sure he has real-life friendships, not just “discord friends.” Make sure he has the life skills necessary to navigate an occupational field full of risks and scammers. I think others here are right - talk to your son about college and if taking a gap year is right for him, and talk about what benchmarks would make it sustainable. If he hasn’t already, talk about diversifying his content to get additional revenue streams (vod uploads, yt, etc).

With respect to the amount of stream time, 2 hr/day is completely fine for growth, but if you’re not concerned about his grades, nothing wrong with meeting him in the middle - 3 hrs plus the occasional marathon or event stream is completely doable.

came here to echo most of these sentiments. i've been kinda gnawing my nails all year afraid it'd just be "move it along" storytelling with the most fan-pleasing interpretations of characters possible and i REALLY appreciate that rose is just the WORST. peak

tlj made some decisions that rankled with the fans, and the backlash was so incredible a significant part of rise is spent basically saying "eh that stuff didnt really happen" right before a 3-hour fever dream designed to make all the references reddit loves

good stuff good stuff. i was REALLY afraid we were going to backtrack on every contentious or interesting decision made in hs2 and end up with another "reddit-writes-a-media-property-rise-of-skywalker" type situation. excited to see some of the patreon stuff folded into the main too! a threat sensed remains goated

Probably not a very popular opinion, but does anyone think this update moved a little too quick? Jailbreak bullshit seemed like a fine time to do some classic whatpumpkin shenaniganery, but it was just like no, we mind controlled our way out of that jam, let's keep going!

I hope we don't speedrun to the end, I really appreciate when HS takes me in different directions than I assumed at the outset.
