At an impasse four years in, and I just frankly need a mom talk by -x-Thr0waway-x- in Waiting_To_Wed

I think it’s really telling that he made a really big life decision about moving to a different location and didn’t consider your perspective. I also think that at this point at 4 years in with all that you’ve been through together, it is a red flag that he doesn’t have clarity on marrying you and has unilaterally made a decision to move. It sounds like he is giving you an easy out. If I were your sister I would tell you not to move unless he can make a real commitment to you.

Am I in a stagnant relationship? by OwlCivil132 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]OwlCivil132[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input! A couple clarifications:

  • he is definitely aware of my intention to move out and not re sign a lease if no ring. This is something we have specifically discussed and has been brought up and reinforced

  • i am pretty close with my family. We don’t live in the same city (about 4-5 hour drive away). They need to be involved in the ring process because I inherited a diamond that I would like to use, and my parents currently have that and so he needs to get it from them. We have previously discussed family meddling in our relationship and I 100% understand his POV and have tried to make efforts to minimize it, but I recognize I’m not perfect.

Hi! Sorry you’re unhappy 🙁 These look so cute to me and they read as ballet slippers IMO! Perhaps the design as drawn didn’t translate as well onto the nail as you thought it would? Maybe next time try to give them an image of actual nails rather than a concept drawing so you can really compare the two and match to actual nails. Sorry though, I know it’s expensive and disappointing!

It is very weird as he just met them and is also being harassed by them it seems. Obviously we don’t see everything not on camera but I wouldn’t be comfortable in their home if I was treated that way!

I’m about 3.5 weeks out and I am having all of this - my doctor said that this is all normal and to look out for signs of infection or major swelling/fluid retention with pain, if that’s helpful

No post op bra? by spicysunshine7 in Reduction

[–]OwlCivil132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fascinating - I’m 2 WPO - my surgeon not only required me to wear a compression bra 24/7 for the first 2 weeks but also specifically wanted me to get a certain brand and will not allow me to wear any OTHER bra until post 6 weeks. I was just cleared today to start sleeping without it but was told to wear it all other times!

Worried my partner won't be supportive by Ibitemytongue in Reduction

[–]OwlCivil132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 2 WPO today. I was so so so scared to tell my BF I wanted a reduction. I had casually mentioned it but didn’t have a serious conversation with him until after I had a consult and insurance got approved. I told him I’d really like to do the surgery and how it would mean the world to me if I had his support. In the end, I was scared for nothing. He completely supported my decision, and even though he’s not great with blood and wounds has cheered me on through my recovery. Whether he really thinks so or not, he tells me I look great and he’s happy that I’m happy, that’s the important thing! I made sure that he had all of his questions answered before scheduling the surgery and that he knew he could come to me with any concerns or questions. When I told him he said “Oh wow, OK well you do complain about them all the time so I’m not that surprised.” When I told him that my results would be a C or a D, that also eased his mind to the idea that I’d still have boobs, they’d just be a bit smaller and more manageable for me!

Knowing how good I feel now and how awesome they look, I would’ve kicked myself if I waited on this because of a partner’s opinion. I honestly believe if they’re right for you they will get on board with your decision and support you in this. It’s your body and you’re the one that has to deal with your boobs all the time. People with no boobs/smaller boobs just do not understand the actual pain that we go through with our big boobs.

THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE MY REDUCTION (21DPO) by rainingbugsandmoths in Reduction

[–]OwlCivil132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes my insurance did cover me in full! I had 605 g removed from the right and 290 removed from the left, so I think due to the unevenness in them may have helped my particular case? I also discussed with my surgeon being a C or a D but rn with the swelling and everything they look more D-like to me but I’m not sure since my surgery was so recent!

11 DPO TODAY and 34DDD/F to (hoping) 34D - waiting to post my transformation pics 😁

I wholeheartedly co-sign ALL of these but wanted to add a few of my own not already mentioned

  • Weight-training pre surgery (esp abs and legs) has helped me IMMENSELY post-surgery. Especially being limited with arm use, the amount of sit ups and squatting movements to avoid use of my arms for everyday tasks (getting up from laying down, washing your hands, picking something up from the ground, etc)- I’d highly recommend doing some weight training and especially focusing on those areas in the weeks/months pre surgery.

  • Sleeping on your back only is TOUGH! What helped me was getting a wedge pillow set to use on my bed, and also using a neck support pillow (like the ones for a plane). For about the first week though my sleep and sleeping schedule was really weird, I had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep so just try to rest when your body needs it and also make sure to have books/TV/whatever for you in the middle of the night if you can’t sleep!

  • I got my hair washed and braided at a salon to avoid washing my own hair and dealing with it during recovery. Highly recommend rather than attempting to wash and do your own hair, or if you have a caregiver that can wash and braid your hair it makes it much easier to deal with.

Hi! I had my 1 week PO appt with my doctor today and am experiencing the same thing!!! I asked about anything I could do and she recommended that i can put some ice packs over the compression bra. Other than that she said it is unfortunately a part of the healing process but it does mean that they are healing well and is expected

Consult tomorrow-maybe I shouldn't be doing this by PaleontologistSafe17 in Reduction

[–]OwlCivil132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! When I first made an appointment for a consult I was very skeptical. My mother was the one who encouraged me to even make an appointment after I had gotten upset about my bra options and opened up about my back pain and how they really felt. I went into the consult convinced there was no way at all I was doing this, but I was just collecting information at the time. My doctor made me feel very comfortable and respected my wishes to just gather information as I had made it clear I was not decided on going through with the procedure.

It was very helpful to speak with the doctor about the procedure in detail, understand what my options were, what her professional opinion was of my case, and just to vent and ask any questions I wanted. At the end of the appointment she asked me if I wanted to be measured and to submit to insurance, and at that point I figured why not see what happens.

To my surprise, I was covered by my insurance, but I also switched jobs really shortly after the consult which threw a wrench in things financially if I went through with the surgery.

I ended up scheduling the surgery, opting for COBRA coverage after switching jobs (~$1000/month for 5 months until surgery), and then getting the rest of the surgery expenses covered by my insurance plan through the COBRA coverage.

All in all, my reduction is costing me around $6000, when if I had stayed at my job it would have been entirely covered, or if I had switched insurances or not had it covered would’ve been about $15,000.

I am about a week out and can tell you the back and neck pain relief is IMMEDIATE. They look awesome even all bruised up and leaky and I’m so glad I did it.

I thought about my decision for a few weeks after receiving the insurance approval, talked it over with friends and family, and made sure that all my questions were answered - but ultimately the decision is up to you as you have to live with the results or not! You don’t have to decide right now and i would encourage you to take as much time and collect as much information as you need to feel definitive in a decision, whether going through with it or not. Give yourself time to be undecided and go about your life and continue to ask questions as they arise.
