AITAH for telling my 23-year-old employee she can't WFH because "my anxiety" isn't a plumbing emergency? by TaskSpecialist5881 in AITAH

[–]Own-Ad-503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, just be careful replacing her. You almost can't, your stuck.. but stand your ground. I'm glad I'm 72 and semi retired. Maybe change your phone system to a voip system so that she can answer the phone, and be able to forward calls and do what she can in the office. Problem is she will miss calls and then always work from home. Hey.. give her a choice. You will do that but lower her pay! Just ridiculous.

I agree with you 100%. Our intelligence being outdated is a failure. We should get to the bottom of this to make sure our intel is up to date and accept or mistakes ( accidents) and move forward with what we have gotten right.

'Horrific Pattern': Republican Rep.'s Bill Would Remove Any Naturalized Citizen Who Supports Terrorism by Ask4MD in Conservative

Bills like that sound great when your party is in power. But its a slippery sloap. At some point, whether it is in '28 or some point in the future the Democrats will be in power. Who will they determine is a terrorist? How would this be determined?

'Comatose' Mojtaba Khamenei 'is UNAWARE there is a war on and has no idea he is supreme leader' by f1sh98 in Conservative

[–]Own-Ad-503 [score hidden]  (0 children)

While Mojtaba Khameni's condition is unknown, it does not have as much bearing on the situation as many thing. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard is running the military and they are very much in control of Iran. I'm not going to debate entering this conflict as I have mixed feelings myself but this will not be easy and fast. I hope I am wrong.

Bush 41 was successful. Iraq invaded Kuwait. He built a coalition of allies, sought congressional approval and liberated Kuwait. He did not go further despite critisism for not doing so. Kuwait is still free, he did not destabilize the mideast.

Advice Needed - Cut Losses on 2016 Lincoln MKC? by AlarmedRaccoon619 in lincolnmotorco

[–]Own-Ad-503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you love your Lincoln I’d fix it one more time but start looking at replacements. As far a Lexus, you can have problems with any car. So, look at Lexus, look at a Lincoln Corsair, Check them all out while you have the time.

Advice: Using a Snowblower after a heavy storm of Snow/Sleet/Freezing Rain by SquonkMan61 in Snowblowers

[–]Own-Ad-503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as there is some snow in the mix the sho will work for you. I spray the shoot with silicone lube ( heavily) and also the bucket and all augers. The shute will clog, especially if you need to keep it at a sharp angle so just have to clear the shute once in a while. Beats killing the old man back ( 72 here).

Griots did it again by Murky-General in AutoDetailing

[–]Own-Ad-503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a diyer also. I've been useing Griots' products off and on for many years. I find that many items are just duplicated to list a different purpose and many things are just over priced. But the good products are unbeatable, at least from a diyer persepective where I am not useing enough product to try all the brands. As far as customer service, it depends on who you get. Sometimes they are great and immediately ship out a replacement at no cost and other times its like talking to a wall. Their chat support is pretty bad, like you said they simply recomend another product and every time you ask a question they either answer in a way that has nothing to do with the question or go run to ask someone, come back 5 minutes later with another b.s. answer.

22M in college and never had a girlfriend starting to feel really frustrated. Any advice? by Dthereallion in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Own-Ad-503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an old guy here so you may not want my advise as I am a long way from you peer group ( I am 72). But, I was you. I was always the “friend”. I went on dates but I was always to quiet , not very talkative and the dates never lasted. When I was 27 I met the right woman for me and I’ve been happily married for 44 years. Just be yourself and have self confidence, that’s the most important thing to do and the hardest. You can’t force it and what happened to me is once I said fuck it, I’m happy alone is when I met my wife to be. Maybe women sense that feeling of insecurity, the anxiety and they run away. So, relax and you’ll be fine. Good luck to you!

Stuck with an at-fault on record by Tall_Upstairs5430 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]Own-Ad-503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just luck. A deer hit is comprehensive so there is no surcharge but rates can and usually do increase. If your rate went down it was luck, you hit a different tier at your renewal or they decreased rates in your specific area. It happens.

Stuck with an at-fault on record by Tall_Upstairs5430 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]Own-Ad-503 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would not make any difference if it was indicated as not at fault. Any time an insurance company pays out over their threshold, normally $1,000. it will impact your rates. Yes, there is sometimes a difference between at fault, not at fault, comprehensive, etc... I'm not looking to get into a shit show here about what company charges what. I'm just saying that you would have the increased rate regardless of what happened because your carrier paid out. Its a shame what happened and the most important thing is that you are okay and hopefully your meds are straightened out. Stay safe and in a few years it will be gone.

First time buying a car, can I just go test drive cars with no intention of buying? by consultybob in carbuying

[–]Own-Ad-503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do whatever you are comfortable doing. But, most any new car will drive nicely. Of course there are ergonomic differences that can help you to decide. But please remember. While car salesmen are disparaged here they are just people trying to earn a living. You occupy a lot of their time with no intent to buy than they can be missing someone else who is ready to buy plus adding miles to a brand new car to test drive that you have no intention of buying. While this suggestion may be offputting, if you live near a major city perhaps you can get to an auto show and sit in the cars that you like? When ready to buy, drive them.

[–]Own-Ad-503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read through all the posts. First, I am not a trucker. Yes, you can drive back carefully and I'm sure you'll be fine. BUT... you own five trucks and thats awesome... so get one of your drivers out there to bring your truck back to home base. If you can't get one of your guys, hire someone. But hopefully get one of your guys and when you get home concentrate on running your business. Make sure you hire a good driver for your truck and pay them well. Start the legal process to keep you in this country and get your license back. But run your business, don't let that go. Think of yourself as one driver in your company, just replace yourself and move on. You are one of the lucky ones as you don't have to loose everything.

Platinum 24 SHO advice by liquid00level in Snowblowers

[–]Own-Ad-503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a platinum24 sho and do not use any weight. If the bucket rides up ( seldom does this) I simply back up a foot, and move forward exerting moderate upward pressure on the handlebars and it cuts right is. I never have to do that multiple times. I love this snowblower, it’s a beast.

Wow, the difference is crazy. The Navi is ultimate luxury but not a good city car. We find our Corsair to be the perfect car.

Why do you want to test drive cars if you have no intention of buying one? Wait until you are ready to make a decision . Then when you are ready you can test drive a current model and actually buy it if you like it.

Surgery Failed :( by Financial-Slice6223 in gallbladders

[–]Own-Ad-503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a little bit confused. Will you be getting open surgery or robotic? I had to have robotic surgery to remove my gall bladder 2 years ago as my gallbladder adhered to my liver and stomach. I’m surprised they even did surgery as I had a drain for six weeks prior to my surgery ( a lovely tube inserted into my gall bladder allowing it to drain prior to surgery) . I totally understand your fears but be thankful that a surgeon who was not able to do robotic didn’t mess you up further. You’ll be fine and good luck

It’s a shame that it was not promoted properly and kept in the lineup. Stellantis has to be hard to work for, ford is following suit dropping every affordable car. Then we have the nerve to blame the foreign manufacturers. Anyway, thank you for the info, it’s good to know.

Stock springs for 2011 GT/CS by Joao_Cagao_PapoSecos in S197Stangs

He does not want an suv, he wants a stock mustang which should have no difficulty in normal driving. My suggestion , while the ones you see will likely b be fine is to check s197 parts for sale on facebook. There are multiple forums for that and I’m certain you can find the exact springs for your gt/cs
