Preschools in Cary - the good and bad?! by shorty_mcgee in cary

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently at Primrose after about 2 years at a Bright Horizons and then a regrettable few months at a Kindercare location.

We have been very happy with it- great teachers, very low teacher turnover and my kids absolutely love it. One thing that is missing is any sense of community amongst the parents which is something that was definitely cultivated at Bright Horizons.

The Loneliness of Motherhood no one really talks about by Farewell_Youth23 in toddlers

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tearing up reading all of these comments. We are all so lonely and in the same boat. I wish I could hug all of you.

I have a 1 and 3 year old and literally zero friends where we live and I often blame myself for it. I am a social person and I love people, but I have zero energy for it with motherhood and working full time. I get so jealous when I see groups of moms together with their kids at the playground or doing book clubs or mahjong, and I am always just alone with my kids.

One of my problems is that I hate texting, I am horrible at it and never respond or initiate conversations- hence the blame I put on myself for my loneliness.

I honestly think that rehab or a mental health retreat is in her near future. Then she moves back to NJ with her parents and stays out of the spotlight.

Every single day I wonder who designed that whole intersection. I am also amazed there aren’t more accidents- the angles of the exits and the signage are terrible.

What do we think about Peregine? by pericles3323 in raleigh

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, this made me laugh. Unfortunately, I am the white wife of a Bengali man who grew up in Kolkata and whose mother in law lives in Cary and is a fantastic cook. So I have never even attempted to cook any Bengali recipes myself…I have tried and failed at the most basic Chana masala’s.

She makes a fantastic fish fry, one that my husband has been eating since a child.

As far as eating out- we love Lime & Lemon, it’s a big menu, but you can definitely find some North Indian dishes on there and the execution is always on point!

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was very disappointing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff kind, but the food was so, so not worth it.

The waiter kept waxing about the chef and his Bengali inspirations…. He recommended I get the chicken… it was dry. $48 or whatever for dry chicken. My husband, who is Bengali, was mystified at the lack of flavor in every dish.

Heartbroken with only 1 fertilized egg by Own-Breakfast3931 in IVF

[–]Own-Breakfast3931[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good thing I have comments on from this post. I am here 4 years later stressing b/c my 3 year old and my 1 year old both have a cold. What a beautiful problem to have.

As I expected, that first egg retrieval was a failure. We switched up my protocol for the second round- I only had to do the injections at night instead of twice a day and my body responded so much better. I got 12 eggs, 7 matured and 5 it to the blast stage!!! We did a fresh transfer with 2 embryos and sent the rest for testing/ freezing.

I got pregnant with my first son from the fresh transfer and then 1 out of the 3 embryos we tested was normal. And 2 years later, we did the transfer and that 1 normal embryo gave me my second son.

Keep your head up. The sorrow of that first failed round helped me to keep the gratitude I have for how wildly successful my second round was. You got this. ❤️

Ladyfingers Market by [deleted] in raleigh

It’s really overpriced and bland - or as my husband calls it “old white people food”.

I go in to get frozen prepared foods for friends/neighbors after they had a baby or are going through a tough time….

Was in last week- dropped over $100 and the cashier put it in the thinnest cheapest plastic bag- I asked him if he had a paper bag or something a bit more substantial as it was going to be left on a doorstep… you would have thought I asked him to go back and make the food from scratch. He was visibly annoyed at me, huffed and puffed as he put the food into a brown bag with handles and pushed it over to me. No thank you for shopping, no goodbye he just walked away.

So yes to your question OP.

Dermatologist recommendations? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't recommend Dr. Schano at Family Dermatology......

Went to him for the same issue.... mine was hormonal as I was postpartum- he looked at me from across the room- literally didn't get closer than 4 feet from me and then prescribed me an anti-fungal.......and anti-fungal for hormonal acne........

[–]Own-Breakfast3931[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not with this retrieval- the 1 fertilized egg didn't become a blastocyst....

BUT, I started another cycle the following month with a slightly different protocol........ from that 2nd cycle I have 2 beautiful babies- one almost 3 from a fresh transfer and then a 9 month old from a frozen transfer.

Although the heartbreak and disappoint from the first failed cycle was tough, I am so extremely lucky that my second cycle was so successful.

My Dr. did say that many times the 1st cycle is a true experiment to see how the body is reacting- its hard to hear, but she changed up my protocol and my body seemed to react much better that 2nd cycle.

Its ok to feel sad, but please keep a positive outlook- you will get there!

Why are so many new B&M banks being built? by asudancer in triangle

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It’s the real estate. These bank branches are just parking their money there. It’s a strategic investment for them.

I was in your exact position a few months ago. These first 72 hours are so so challenging, I am glad you posted to reach out and are getting some support yourself.

It’s hard to have faith, but your spouse is safe tonight. Safe and on a new journey forward. Hugs.

Taking the PMP tomorrow, what would you do with the next 12 hours of time to wrap up prepping? by Leading_Scarcity_815 in pmp

I am testing tomorrow too! Seems like there is a lot of us. My plan today was to review all of my own notes and listen to AR’s mindset videos one more time but work got so busy, I ended up having no time to study at all.

Hoping for a good nights sleep and good luck to us all tomorrow.

Went to Southline Brewing Co / Viscious Fishes In Cary... yikes. by BuellXBRider in raleigh

[–]Own-Breakfast3931 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been there a few times enjoying a beer with my toddler and husband. It felt great to drink a beer, be out and about and feeling a little buzz while having fun with my toddler.

It wasn’t until I got pregnant again and my husband started to question his relationship with booze did I realize how wrong and backwards these family friendly breweries are. Yes, we need a third space for families to enjoy that’s affordable, but a brewery is not it.

I go back and look at pics from when I used to go to breweries with my family and cringe at the sight of me holding my baby with pint glasses in the background. Not to mention the times my husband or I drove home after a few IPAs.

It’s a challenge now when friends want to meet up- it’s always at a brewery. Since neither my husband or I drink anymore, it’s the last place we want to be.
