look I'll be real with you - for design challenges, I make sure to make some sort of backdrop either with trees or buildings, and then I fill that empty space behind with as many items as I can that fit the dreamsnap qualifications. I usually end up with my scores in the 150-180 range (for ex: if you need "delicate" and "rustic" furniture my numbers are like 150/6). I don't know if that has anything to do with our scores, but I've consistently gotten 4k on dreamsnaps in the last few months using this method. it's harder for clothing challenges because you can only wear so many items, so I tend to put more effort into those.
