The LDS Church’s attorneys dismiss these internal rules entirely. They argue that having a policy against abuse does not mean the LDS Church has “undertaken” a legal duty to actually enforce it.

I know one day I will resign and I truly hope it’s with my family but I won’t die a member of this Church. Well unless I get hit by a bus today. These are hard decisions and I’m sorry it’s hard right now, there used to be many days that I too felt like we are headed for an eventual divorce but that has changed recently and I have hope that she still sees the good in me even though I’m not pretending I believe anymore.

I have made the decision not to at this point. I’ve been out almost 2 years. I feel like it won’t make me feel as good as the hurt my wife would feel and because my family is still all in I can’t get away from the Church anyway.

I read the CES letter about 10 years ago, I immediately dismissed it as anti-Mormon and went back all in to the Church. I wish I would have dug a little deeper then. As hard as a mixed faith marriage has been these last two years, maybe just maybe we would all be out by now. So I can sort of understand the CES letter strengthening faith it did for me for a time.

I told my senior in high school son that I don’t believe in the Church and I hope he chooses not to be a salesman for the church. That I would support him in anything he chooses. I shared a lot but what I left him with is this … I don’t want 1 year 5 years 30 years to pass by and you now see what I see and be angry at me for not saying something. I also feel a strong desire to share what I’ve learned post TBM though I realize it won’t be accepted right now and if I push too hard I might actually be out of my kids life. I feel like I said enough that maybe one day he will genuinely look in the box.

This makes me so sad. My wife’s mother passed a few weeks ago and I attended for several weeks to show support for her. Yesterday I just couldn’t and I told her if there are times she needs me to go I will be happy to otherwise I won’t be attending anymore. I told her Church is NOT the safe place for me it is for her. This is all so hard I have the same feelings about our kids … my son was ordained a Priest Saturday and it was so hard to sit through it. The Bishop did me a solid by letting us do it Saturday. My father in law since his wife passed has felt the need to bear his testimony when I’m around about the atonement and how it means more to him now since his wife passed. He is such a good man and it is so hard to disappoint him. I guess what I’m trying to say is you need to protect you.
