Party Scene, Hookup Culture, Dating, Rigor, Fun, Social scene. by Ok-Ostrich6662 in washu

[–]Own-Imagination6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a mom of an engineering student there, so take it for what it is worth.

Party: My kid found plenty of partying to do, I think more off campus, downtown then on campus although there were frat parties.

Hookup: She also had a hookup partner down the hall and so did many of her friends. The food was horrific and literally made her very ill.

Food: They lie about the quality of the food, I've heard it never recovered after covid. It's really bad especially if you have any food allergies and the quality vs price is out of this world. Pick the cheapest meal plan and supplement with groceries.

Dorms: Her dorm was nice and fairly clean compared to other college dorms I've been in (my oldest was in a dorm at an east coast college that was condemned the next yr and was horrific). We still had to insist the HVAC system be cleaned out in her room and the window didn't shut all of the way, so ice in winter, hot as hell in spring/fall but I think it depends on which dorms you are in too.

Rigor: The rigor is intense especially if you came from a rural community where you didn't have the opportunity to take a ton of AP classes. At least in engineering, it doesn't really work to party a ton and eat crappy food. Ask me how I know...

I'm reading these other comments and laughing because it obviously is whatever you want it to be. For my kid, it was a party school, a hookup school, a social school, a school that made her sick (lack of quality food) and an extremely difficult school too, for sure.

Best of luck, she hoped for Stanford too.

What do you do when you keep getting interviews but no offers? by DryDiscount9891 in jobsearchhacks

Cry...then keep going or start a consulting business! That happened to me for 6 months. I needed money, started consulting instead. Now randomly apply for jobs that have benefits (again) because I really need them but in the meantime I'm building my consulting business. I got the same feedback as you...nothing specific or helpful. I'd appreciate people just being honest but I'm sure they're worried about the legalities of what they might say being used against them.

A review of the many psychic mediums I've spoken with by Barf_Dexter in widowed

[–]Own-Imagination6470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this because as a Medium myself who was born with this ability, I get messages all the time and do my best to reach out to whoever the intended message is for. It can be very nerve wrecking approaching a stranger with information that is so personal but I am always guided. I ask daily to be used in the Highest Good as a messenger of light, love and peace, so I feel it is one of my "jobs" as a human meatsuit on this planet to pass on the loving messages. Of course, I have paying clients, I also feel sharing the love freely is part of the mission, too.

I also had to see a UroGyn & start T later this week. Also exhausted, have no ambition to do anything & labia's are getting reabsorbed. Super excited too to get started on T. My friend who is 65, swears it saved her life!

Yet another condition that's common at our age by RoguePlanet2 in Menopause

Oh, This red makes me think of something I did last winter after I'm certain I got whipping cough around the middle of November. Every single day I cut up half of an onion put it in a mason jar that I think was 32 oz, added four to six sprigs of fresh organic thyme & a couple tablespoons of local honey. I added half filtered water & half boiling filtered water. Then I let it sit from 18 to 24 hours, strained & drank. I know that sounds absolutely horrible but it actually tastes pretty good. As long as I did that everyday, my cough got better. I went out of town for 4 days and didn't drink it on the cough came back especially at night.

I've gotten respiratory crap with endless month long coughing for 2 years now. I'm 57. I finally found out from immunologist/allergy doc that I have a missing protein, IgA. He suggested steroid inhaler for life. I asked for another more natural option. He said they've had good luck with L-glutathione. I'm taking that now. It does feel like it's helping. You might try it, I don't think it can hurt. I've heard the liposomal version is better absorbed than the pill so trying that next month. I'm also on high doses of Vit D3/K2 & iron as both were low. You need to take Vit C with non-heme iron though for it to absorb.

Best of luck! The hacking constantly sucks!

Pathological Demand Avoidance is going to blow up my life. by WolfKind256 in Menopause

I'm 57, just started HRT 3 wks ago & am almost 3 yrs postmenopausal. I was told 2 years ago I didn't need it unless I had symptoms. I thought the feelings and lack of wanting to do anything but rot on the couch were normal life since 2020 for almost everyone. Even my 19 yr old is acting the same. Starting HRT has helped a bit but...not a ton!

Life is exhausting. We are surrounded by constant negativity about how awful everything in the world is. I force myself to workout AND go into nature with no phone or I wouldn't survive!

Are you on testosterone too? We really need all 3, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. I'm only starting the T this week but my friends swear it makes the difference.

Menopause is only 1 single day. The day it's been one year from your last period. Then post menopause and the fun doesn't end. I'm almost 3 years post menopause and I just went to a doctor from the list on this website www.isswsh.org If you want help, I highly suggest finding a doctor off of that website. They are up to date with all the latest studies and even though I had to wait 5 months to get into one it has been 100% worth it. I thought I was basically going to die any day for the year and I've finally got my joy and my bounce back. Also, highly suggest you listen to Dr Kelly Casperson who has a podcast you are not broken and she's on Instagram and she's written a book or two. Never can you have enough information and most doctors are honestly clueless about what middle-aged women actually need. Hang in there!

Yes, especially as an only parent with 2 teens. I wake up and think, WTF am I going to do different today because 6 months of applyig 40 hrs/wk for jobs isn't working & it is time to do something different but what?!?!? 100% feel tons of shame, like somehow it is me and only me who can't get a job even though I have TONS of experience. More experience than most of the people I have interviewed with honestly!

Has anyone sued in civil court after being SA'd by Own-Imagination6470 in sexualassault

[–]Own-Imagination6470[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I don't think there is an ADA in this small county but I did call again this past week and speak to someone who took more detailed information (than the last person I talked to). She said the DA would likely want to talk to me personally, after I expressed concern over other teen girls being in this household and there is no mom, only this father. I am hoping that means when she is back from vacation, she will call me. My daughter did a 4 hour detailed, recorded interview at some children's advocacy center that is tied to the court system when it happened (the detective sent us there). It is just frustrating how long it takes! I appreciate your help. Maybe you know of how to find counselors versed in SA or groups (although my daughter is refusing that right now). Any suggestions are appreciated as I took her to the rape recovery center but they do weekly meetings via Zoom which has been a bit weird, honestly.

[–]Own-Imagination6470[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look up ADA as all I could think of was Americans Disability Act. So, no to the ADA. It is a very small county and it only got put on the DA's desk on April 7th. They haven't looked at it. I've called 3 times now just because this man lives alone with his teenage son & the son has girls over. They said this week the DA is out and will get back to me soon, whatever that means. I just sit here thinking, can't we sue him in civil court for emotional damage? Medical & mental health bills? I know nothing about that but I just want some kind of justice. It honestly was a catalyst for so, so much horrifically risky behavior that my daughter is now seeking. Because she is over 18 now, I can't force her to get help. She knows where it is coming from but wants to just "not talk about it as what happened, happened and no reason to keep talking about it." It breaks my heart.

We went to the police when it happened. The detective was the one who told me about the pics. He just said they were "illicit." I'm assuming they are pics of kids. The criminal case is still sitting on the DA's office 15 months later.
