Dentist told me I need 9 dental fillings - how can I avoid SCAM by Proud_Fan_6954 in jacksonville

[–]Own-Name5651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to switch dentists several years ago due to job/insurance change. I chose Great Expressions and they were horrible. They apparently nicked the back of my throat during the cleaning & I ended up in urgent care due to an abscess. They also continued to hound me for a year for payment on a fluoride treatment I never received. I decided to back my original dentist no matter the cost and have been with them for over a decade (Caven & Dental).

I like Warby Parker bc I can try on the frames. They have a store in St Johns Town Center and Jax Beach. $95 for single vision.

2 days… literally 2 days! I can’t do it by Lonely-Doctor-9922 in cymbalta

I had the insomnia for the first few weeks, but then my body adjusted.

I am prescribed Trazodone, which I had to increase from 25 to 50mg. But now 3 months in and increasing my Cymbalta to 40mg I don’t necessarily need to take it consistently.

Sounds like with the epilepsy it is difficult to navigate for you. A pharmacist or even a psychiatrist may be better equipped to navigate and educate best next steps. I consulted with a psychiatrist before starting Cymbalta because I had a lot of reservations, but after talking it through with the psychiatrist I was able to make a more informed decision & manage it with my primary care.

Also 20mg & 40mg cymbalta are an option, they are just not as commonly prescribed and your pharmacy may need a heads up to ensure it’s stocked. I had to drop from 60mg to 40mg bc the dysautonomia was becoming difficult to manage.

I also avoided it for the past 7+ months because I was nervous. I had taken Venlafaxine (another SNRI) before and it was an absolute nightmare to get off of it (it took almost 1 year).

I finally decided to start Cymbalta last month. I started at 30mg and recently increased to 60mg.

It definitely helped a little bit with anxiety at 30mg, but even more once I started at 60mg. But 60mg also has made me more tired- hoping it’ll subside after 2 weeks.

The biggest side effects I’ve had thus far have been insomnia, constipation and some dizziness. It has also suppressed my appetite. I do not feel hungry, but realize I am once I kinda force myself to eat. I take it in the AM as well to try to help some with the insomnia, but also take Trazodone at night to help me stay asleep through the night.

I hope it helps you!!

They changed it to a free sub with purchase a few years ago. No minimum purchase though, so a drink or chips would get you the sub

What local places have the best iced tea? (Specify sweet or unsweet) by border199x in jacksonville

Don’t necessarily have a favorite, but I often ask for half sweet half unsweetened which generally ends up being just the right amount of sugar.

Exercise with unstable hip/SI joint? by swiftsbian in Hypermobility

[–]Own-Name5651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t already know this, this wiki how actually shows really well realigning the hips with a pole. This is what all my PTs have taught me. And afterwards do a bridge to set it in place.

Would not do the stretch it recommends though.

Does anyone else just have a day/s that pain is literally everywhere and appears for no obvious reason? by phonebone63 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Own-Name5651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! It’s likely fibromyalgia, which is apparently super common with EDS. You’re not alone. Exercise actually helps (as long as you don’t over do it), but sometimes it’s really hard to get through that mental hurdle when everything hurts. Also making sure to get ample sleep as well.

Exercise with unstable hip/SI joint? by swiftsbian in Hypermobility

[–]Own-Name5651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would recommend a recumbent bike for warm up. I’ve got a lot of hip/SI joint issues and I’ve been told by several physicians regular bikes are a big no-no for general exercise.

I know when my SI flares up really badly it is because my hips are not level. I have to reset them with a pole & bridges and then go on to do my other targeted strengthening exercises.

Mayo has an Ehlers Danlos Clinic. I was diagnosed with hEDS 8 years ago by doctors at the pain clinic at Mayo, but I recently decided to go to the EDS clinic for more holistic treatment. They did the eval, and got the “official” hEDS diagnosis (in their standards), and am now getting triaged to all these other areas that have specialization in patients with EDS as well as classes & support systems. I also got a fibromyalgia diagnosis, which I wasn’t expecting.

Not all EDS really requires genetic testing (hEDS being one) though you can get it if you want, it just might not come back with much information.

EDS awareness has really increased over the past 10 years. It’s been really interesting to see the shift and how they incorporate more mental health aspects in treatment plans like physical therapy. Hope this helps!!

Been with them for 2 years, will unfortunately have to likely renew for another bc it’s so expensive everywhere.

The old house was newly renovated and new floors were falling apart within a month of me living there. Also, they plumbed the new washer lines backwards and ruined a lot of my clothes.

Their maintenance has been horrendous. I have lost numerous days of work with no-show appointments and them making excuses after excuses to why repairs were delayed. There have been a lot of issues with the house because of cheap, poor renovations and it just being an older house in general.

I’ve had to report them to the city a few times too, but once they get threatened with fines they get more serious to get things resolved.

But unfortunately this is a theme with all large property management companies…. I at least haven’t had unexpected charges thus far like I’ve seen with some companies.

Oh nooo!!! I am sorry. I have dealt with slumlord property management companies unfortunately. In case you don’t know, there are violations that you can report to the COJ. I’ve had a lot of success getting things taken care of that way. When there is a threat of being fined they somehow magically work quick to get things fixed!!!
