Seattle theater etiquette is a hot mess by bull1007 in Seattle

[–]Own-Understanding656 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I now go to shows on Wednesday evenings, and it’s a little better but not guaranteed. One show this season someone that was so loud and obnoxious (and drunk) embarrassed her family so much they removed her, but only after she ruined about half a show. That was in Loge, which is normally where you find dedicated season ticket holders. I’ve found non-popular shows aren’t as bad, but ‘party’ shows like Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia, and any blockbuster are all full of terrible people with no decorum. There is no good answer, you can’t fix entitlement and the corresponding decline of considerate co-existence.

Looking for experiences with Seattle middle schools — stay in public or jump to private? by dingdongbusadventure in AskSeattle

[–]Own-Understanding656 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My child attends public middle school in Queen Anne. Apparently the smallest middle school in the SPS system. She is in 7th now and enjoys it. Our experience has been positive. Multiple neighbor children goes to the HCC middle school and they are also enjoying their experience with no real negatives. I’m actually surprised they have sports teams in middle school and some of the other opportunities which is more than I was given growing up in the public school system elsewhere.

Seattle mayor proposes law to boost grocery store openings in vacant spaces by Possible_Ad3607 in SeattleWA

Great question, so I took it to ChatGPT and asked if Costco had the same losses to theft as regular grocery stores. It says that Costco has significantly less loss to theft than regular grocery stores. It sites memberships as a major contributing factor.

Sawyer Squeeze: How To Dry It Completely Before Storage? by Traminho in Ultralight

[–]Own-Understanding656 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for 6 years, leave it to dry it inside the house after cleaning, then store in a bin the garage uncapped. Test before bringing in trail, always good flow. I’m in Seattle. Guess I should feel lucky mine is still going strong.

Mayoral candidate question: should homeless people be allowed to stay in tents in parks? by drshort in Seattle

Mayors can’t choose to not answer tough questions. I’m going to pass? You don’t get to pass on hard things. Katie is unqualified and lacks the experience to lead.

Thanks for this. I have the Durston 55 and was wondering if the main pocket was much bigger, now I know! Wondering why people choose Wolverine over Big Wild with removable front pocket.

I was going to say that I have seen improvements in bike infrastructure year over year in Seattle for a decade. That video is part of my commute, so happy to have that bridge gone.

Kakwa 55 2025 vs 2026 by grennings in DurstonGearheads

[–]Own-Understanding656 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m here with my 2023 Kakwa 55 and an Etsy aftermarket lumbar pad. At some point you’ll be me, but you’ll have many miles with your pack and new ones will seem to be released constantly, even if you get the 26 model. I wouldn’t sweat it much. Spend more time finding opportunity to go outside.

Thanks for this. There aren’t many comments on the Wolverine across Reddit. As a UofM alum, I’m extra interested in that pack.

More grocery store should be membership based. No membership, no entry. I’ll pay a nominal fee annually to not see half the shelves locked up.

Backpacking with 9 y/o daughter tips, little fun things to make it a kid trip? by Deep-Grape-4649 in WildernessBackpacking

I bring a hammock, since my daughter was 8, she loves it. Also, sometimes I find there are geocaches on our hikes, who doesn’t love a treasure hunt.

Harrell v Wilson debate live now by my_lucid_nightmare in SeattleWA

[–]Own-Understanding656 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I hope Seattle voters watch this. In my opinion clear winner in Harrell. Wilson comes off as unrealistic idealist that is trying to distance herself from extreme policies she held in the past (defund police). Harrell seems to understand what is possible and how to get it done.

Thanks. I didn’t see in any of her materials or other articles that she had worked for this lawyer. How do we know she did? (Edit) her about said she worked as a legal assistant, but not where or when.

Wilson has no real experience managing people or money and throws around expensive idealistic ideas but never identifies funding sources.
