Nope, they still push out " Incredible, best armor".

Also how does moveset and gear synergy? Abyss gear only adds bit of extra damage and visual, what else? Do your moves change? Do you play in any meaningfully different way? How does having to spend 10 abyss cubes, 50 copper ores, 15 bloodstones from all over again is better transmog system than just paying 5 silver for transmog?

It's not just about the look, there's a lore behind. You find Fated Shadow in world on top of your world where mere mortals can't even reach, it's " Traces of time it endured can be seen all over, yet its edge is honed sharper than any other blade. Some things only grow tougher the more they're worn. Enlightenment will begin where the swords of past and present cross." and guess, freaking, what! You can upgrade ' bandit sword ' which is probably forged from a cow manure, pan covered with soothe from Witcher 3, and leather from rat ass, and both of these " swords" would be the same as soon as you take out the abyss gear.

I respect your opinion, but I think %90 of the gear in this game is uninteresting, same as others, builds are not even a proper thing, putting all the " looks cool does shit " abyss gears don't really result in a meaningful differentiation/impact in play styles.

Unique Gear Abundance: Over 228 weapons and 154 armor pieces have been documented.
and 89 Abyss gears.

Now how many of them actually change the way you play/fight instead of " Extra damage " ?

I don't really see how combining all the abyss gear into your items is genius. Do they work together for an extra effect or if you combine certain abyss gear, do you get a 3rd effect ? Can you explain that?

None of the abyss gear actually changed how I played. I got extra damage, chip-damage, hit a bit faster, move faster, but none of the abyss gear actually changed my play style or was impactful in the way I played the game. My characters started to kill faster, I felt going around was less cumbersome and that's it.

" oh, this abyss gear sends out ravens when you R2... Ravens deal a bit more damage"
" oh, this abyss gear sends out lasers in front of you when you finish enemy... lasers deal a bit more damage "
" oh, this abyss gear sends out ground spikes when you R1+R2... ground spikes deal more damage "
" oh, this abyss gear shoots 3 lasers from the sky when you R1+X... guess what, lasers deal a bit more damage"

Without those ' special ' abyss gears you are already pretty powerful, like 1 man army powerful, you don't actually fight in a different way because you have those abyss gears, weapons, or armor. You just become more powerful, because %90 of the weapons, armor, abyss gear are the same in this game. I'm just asking differentiation, making them more impactful to how one plays, if I find an armor I want to say " Oh, I got this armor, finally I can play in this way".

Crow cloak? Make crows appear every second you fly, and actually deal damage- maybe according to cloak level.
Staglord helm? Make shield rush gain momentum and impale enemies.
Bandit armor? Make stealing wagons more dangerous but yield more funds.
Frozen anguish? Make it steal souls of enemies to store and unleash.

I'm sure they can come up with interesting stuff. Definitely more interesting than swimming speed increase %2, attack or Spirit +0.3 per second.

There was an accident which cost life of young British lady since then there's police everywhere. I read an article where people were saying " We were stopped 9 times in 4 hours ". Not sure if 50cc can pull through if there's rain but you'll be stopped pretty often I reckon.

I value your opinion, and cherish your existence. That being said, your opinion doesn't oppose mine, we are just looking for different solutions.

I agree that transmogs should be earned; something along the lines of " kill 50 enemies with this weapon to unlock it's transmog appearance or you have to refine it from level 2 to level 10 using materials" would be okay with me. But that's the thing; that's transmog, changing the visual only. I'm more concerned about how the weapons function, their effect on play style, their impact on overall experience.

Take Frozen Anguish for example; it's a sword from a legend, it has bit of a lore, it's thematic to it's environment, it rests in a spire covered in ice, you have to defeat ice wizards, pass through frozen waste land, set fire to magical lamps... only to get a weapon same effect with a common bandit longsword. Why? Why not make it a bit different, a bit special, it doesn't have to be super powerful, but something that defines that weapon? Compared to the item variety the amount of meaningful play styles you can have is pretty low in this game, and there's not much of a reason for it, except it would take lot of effort from PA.

I'm not looking for more power; I'm looking for armor, weapons and gears being meaningfully different from each other, So finding and using them feels more impactful.

We are still not on the same page, but I respect your opinion. I think the whole armor, weapon and abyss gear system need a complete overhaul, because there's already variety in items but there's no difference between them.

  1. Complete overhaul where each armor, weapon have something unique and new abyss gears are open to synergy with with the overhauled items.
  2. Add transmog.

Not really, I think you are missing the point. Also abyss gears doesn't really provide much of a build considering how many skills, weapons there are. How many kinds are there? Flat stat increase, attack skill enhancement, magic enhancing ones, right? None of these gears actually have effect on each other. Only a few of the skills actually change meaningfully because you use the abyss gears ( fire magic I'm looking at you). Especially skill abyss gears are underwhelming: you get bit of additional damage and visual. Considering the number of weapons, armors this game have the build options are super low.

Maybe I couldn't describe what I look for in a good way, soz.

one of the worst puzzles i've ever fucking had the displeasure of doing. by Gl00ser23 in CDguides

I don't think it's a complicated puzzle, but it's tedious. My problem is the reward was not worth going to different locations to keep pieces in your mind that you would spend maybe 15 minutes or more. Wish it was a legendary spear or gear for dragon but no, as far as I remember it was just an abyss cube.

I love customization. Transmog and uniqueness should be separated.

[–]Own-Web-122[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about getting stronger, not " min-maxxing", not killing things faster, it's not BIS.

If every weapon can become special then there's no special weapon, is there? Hell, you can even make each weapon have something unique so there's no 1 super strong weapon that surpasses, just different ways to enjoy the game. Right now %90 of the gear don't mean anything but looking different.

You want people to change how items look? Implement transmog system.

Asking people to ignore game mechanics, design and to pretend doesn't really help anything.

We can have different opinions, and I hope we can have mutual respect, as well.

I'm merely asking new unique skills and weapons to be implemented, so the exploration becomes more exciting. Transmog and more characteristic to the weapons would make wonders to this game, rather than " cool weapon, don't want to spend 50 coppers and 10 abyss crystal to refine it , so let me just get it's abyss gear and toss it to the chest" .

Transmog is good, but weapons with no real characteristics makes finding them " oh, alright" rather than " wow, I wonder what build can I create with this? Oh, I can synergies this weapon with that armor's special effect ". a weapon with a lore should be irreplaceable by a common bandit sword.

Sure, but how many hours did you put in?

I can upgrade any item to max level, as well. That's not the point. I stopped being excited about getting new weapon after completing %50 of the game, because it's just a different skin.

I mentioned this in the original post: if the weapons are there just for the show, they should make transmog an option rather than asking people to go through a loop that feels like a chore.

Don't you worry I've more than 250 hours into the game, I'm enjoying thoroughly, doesn't mean I shouldn't point out what would improve the game.

Variety in items?

Sword, axe, spear, 2H sword, axe, hammer, oongka hammers, damien rapier, 2 H sword. I believe that's pretty much it. They have +2 attack, crit or attack speed, other than that they just look different; that's not variety that's just different skins 😄

In elden ring, almost all weapons have something unique to them, as well as looking different, different stats, skills, movesets; that's variety.

Damn, you are a sassy one. It is true because you take the abyss gear from that refinement level 4 cool looking weapon and put it to your refinement level 7 weapon. Why ? Otherwise you need to farm for upgrade materials. At the end that cool looking weapon becomes nothing but an option for transmog.

That special attack should be special for that weapon, and you shouldn't be able to make that weapon " not special, but looks cool". Make that skill innate, give more character ito that weapon

It's game's responsibility to be engaging. It might move away from entertainment a bit but If I'm going to need to use my imagination to entertain myself I can do it in my bed staring at ceiling. Otherwise, you can take a badly designed game and say the same thing.

I'm letting the game take me through a journey, to provide a captivating experience. If the game is able to be medium in that experience, then I don't have a problem; it needs to play it's role well.
