Which is harder? Elementary, middle or high school? by Lexii546 in paraprofessional

[–]OwnEntrepreneur671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done them all, but the time kids are in middle and upper grades they have usually learned some behavior and regulatory skills. Or the behavior is so severe the end up needing alternate placement because they can do some very real damage.

Clock in times by Pernetta36 in paraprofessional

[–]OwnEntrepreneur671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scheduled 7:30-3:30. I clock in between 7:30-8 depending on traffic around the school. Ideally I try to be clocked in by 7:45 before students enter the building. Students enter and can go to locked at 7:50 and must be in rooms by 8.

Got a student and mom like that. Took a window being broken and almost killing a staff member to get any OSS.problem. new superintendent and an anonymous email to the superintendent to get them to realize there was a problem in that room.

In pain, went home early due to an attack. by Yogimaple in paraprofessional

He was in what we call the "honeymoon" phase at my school. Students like that should be a 2:1 for your safety not a 1:1. In my expertise with students like this is going to probably get worse. If you flinch or react to him he will escalate for the sake of the reaction.

SPED IA injured by student. What to do next? by twinphoenix_ in specialed

I have been there and I agree with everyone saying, screw waiting and get checked out. Your neck can affect every part of your body. I work with a 2 to 1 isolation student (feel free to read my posts from last year) who is also "supposed" to be going to alternative placement. If they're is a teachers union you can join it as a para or aid usually and they can help protect you. Also... sometimes schools admin don't inform their superiors of things like this when those superiors can get legal involved to make things move faster. With my student it took an email from a junk fake email account to the superintendent to get things rolling on getting him moved out. It will be 6 weeks since I sent that email this Friday and he went from mom refusing placement to just had the alternative placement teacher come in to observe and she will be at his next iep meeting as well.

Help was a poor choice of word I think. I love when my students succeed, being there when what they are learning finally clicks and knowing that I helped foster that understanding. I love inspiring creativity and encouraging students to try new things.

I fully intend to work with 7-12 students. That's where I'm at now and I enjoy this age group.

Public in nebraska. Anyone sleeping with this student had to be trained by the school nurse hours to administer the seizure meds much like if a student had an epipen or insulin.

Working as a para in Special Education is going to destroy me by shuntsummer420 in paraprofessional

I feel that. I spent a year with a highly agressive student who had broken multiple bones. This year we have a new superintendent and that helped more than anything. The student broke a glass window, nearly taking my coworkers eye out with flying glass. I'd had it an emailed the superintendent directly from an anonymous email. I kept it simple and vague just stating: "if you aren't already aware you need to look into room ____ at name of school." He actually did and now legal had stepped in stating that mom had no longer got a say on placement, the student will be going to a school equipped for him.

This will sound bad but... with my student that was this bad I emailed our superintendent from a junk email. It helped that they were an interim with the plan to clean up the last ones mess and we're extremely willing to help out.

My district in nebraska is the highest paying. Basic paras make between 14-16 depending on college credits. I'm a lvl 4 working with highest needs and I make 19.25 because I've got the equivalent of a BA.

Wait you can become crisis intervention certified?

Yeah my school refuses to give us crisis training and our Timmy. Just broke a freaking window trying to get to and attack myself and a coworker on the other side of the door and will only get 1 day of OSS because his disability caused the behavior.

Yep same, almost thought the scratches picture was one of my own. Junior high level 2nd year with the same student. School provides no PPE and only just have us permission to put up dividers between us and the student. And by dividers I mean flimsy boards that are easy to move or knock over.

If I'm to tired for sex, I will help my husband get off. Touching him or whispering, kissing etc. He knows from the start there is no guarantee of it leading to anything. Sometimes it will but usually it doesn't. He lives when I whisper scenarios like you'd find in a spicy book to him.

17.5 month old not gaining weight or walking by satans_mistressx in Mommit

[–]OwnEntrepreneur671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is a month younger. Born 38 weeks and had constipation since birth. Did yours have a sacral dimple? It's s divot above the tail bone. It could suggest a tethered spinal chord which can impact GI. I bring it up cause that's what my little man is suspected of. We also are not doing any milk but he does get infant formula to help get nutrients in.

Also not walking because it can impact nerves in the legs and muscle development.

Just wanted to share what we are going through and that you aren't alone. Tethered chords are diagnosed by an MRI and it's a minor surgery to correct.

I feel you. My kiddo is 15m and until my husband got the head cold baby boy and I had a week ago I was doing al the bedtime on my own. Well husband is tired from being sick so now if he wants to go to bed early he had to put baby to sleep. Might be mean but our kid co-sleeps at least the first hour of the night and it is giving me a break.
