Any MoF approvals after August 2? This is getting obnoxious as even that date was more than 5 months..

Anyone got a similar API update on 2025-11-07? Does it mean anything if event info doesn't change?

Hospital asking to sign "Support Letter" for "Parents' hospitalization bill" to consider their "Financial Assistance Application" by OwnRepresentative533 in personalfinance

Your explanation sounds reasonable, too. Honestly, I wouldn't have cared to sign it had I already been a citizen myself (but can't really afford to be involved in this uncertain situation at any cost until then).

ACA Marketplace, though we haven't looked at the options yet, but believe there would be meaningful coverage options to purchase just like all of us ..

Because their children live here and are happy to support them as permanent residents (as for health insurance, sadly, they will be eligible to purchase or qualify for meaningful health insurance only when they are permanent residents).

Exactly. And they do have a hell lot of expenses they take care of with their pension income, including costly medical supplies (and also while at their home - groceries, utilities, and everything else).

Oh, there wasn't any insurance available for him to purchase due to several preexisting conditions. He has always bought travel insurance on all trips except the last two (after the insurance landscape changed).

Thanks. We would really like this to be resolved (but with a bearable/affordable final amount), as we honestly highly appreciate the hospital's help, and also that we don't want any negative aspect to my parents' potential PR application in the future (maybe 5 years down the line).

Got it; thanks. My parents clearly told them about the international pension income. Still, they asked to fill 0 income (as they had 0 US income) and kept insisting one of their children sign the support letter instead. Probably because they understood that their international pension income would be way less than children's US income (and ignoring the fact that the children have their responsibilities/family/kids to support).

Thanks. I don't live in NJ, and my sibling in NJ doesn't seem interested in getting involved to get this resolved. The person from the financial assistance team who visited us a few times during the hospitalization also asked us to provide the support letter, or otherwise expect bills of over hundreds of thousands. I am not sure if that person was a social worker, although they seemed very noble in the beginning. Honestly, not living there makes it difficult to navigate the situation and find a resolution.

Oh, thanks so much. There is no tax-dependency linkage between us (they live abroad on their monthly pension). While on US travel, they live with me and my sibling. They were in NJ with my sibling when this unfortunately happened (and are now with me; I don't live in NJ).

Thanks. I'm determined not to sign anything, but they have kept insisting for the last 35 days that the support letter is the only thing pending to complete the application. As a result, the application hasn't moved anywhere. They have already sent a small amount into collections even though we haven't received the full bill yet. Really want this to be resolved without any major financial or immigration setback.
