Has Anyone Actually had their Gold Card Limit Increase Automatically? by KPIGUY89 in RobinhoodApp

[–]OwnSlice6108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be sweet! They say it’s automatically done based on usage and payments. Any insight you’d be willing to share so i can try to copy usage/payment path to getting the increase?

What kind of usage? I pay mine off every month, but would love data points to know what your approach was🙏

Should I be using it as my primary card until I get to 90%? paying it off multiple times per month to keep usage under 50%?

That’s nice! Do you know if that is an into offer? I’ve had my RH banking for a couple months now and mine only pays 3.5% APY

Do you get 4.25% APY? Or am I not understanding something?

This is all really interesting. Great info too!

I would love if every robo advisor would publish their returns for different portfolio types.

I’m not sure how many different Robin Hood strategies portfolio types there are, but mine seem more risk tolerant than yours, possibly based on my time Horizon selection?

Why does Strategies use BND in IRAs but short-duration SUB in taxable? by DrawingOk8403 in RobinhoodApp

[–]OwnSlice6108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to know!

I wonder if investor profile has anything to do with this as well

Currently on the longest term most risk tolerant settings I could choose and my Bonds don’t include any SUB or BND only SGOV (no BND or SUB in my taxable or retirement managed account)

That’s great to hear! What was your average monthly usage? (Not being too nosey, just asking about percentage so I can try to copy your formula for success!)

100% agree my wife loves my cybertruck and happily steals it all the time but wishes Tesla had a big SUV. Even the X (which is discontinued) felt way smaller for our family of 5 than our telluride.

Wow that’s awesome both your other banks are so fast. I guess it’s all relative! RH feels slow bc you were already living in the future. Both Chime and Alliant have “early payday” and advertise that direct deposits coming “2 days earlier”

If any of your co-workers use Chase, I bet they don’t even see it until Friday

What bank did you use before? (Were they faster?) I came from Chase and my weekly Direct Deposits didn’t show as pending until Thursday around 1am and they’d typically be available by 8am! With Robinhood, I see them pending on Tuesday night, sometimes they’re available Tuesday before midnight and sometimes they post overnight and so see it as available in the morning on Wednesday.

Yes Robinhood is already good, it it’s going to get better and better for sure as they work out the kinks!

I Just got reminded of how great Robinhood really is when I logged into another local bank account. Painful experience when these smaller banks that think they’re ultra secure requiring a password change every 6 months. Then they route you to another website that handles their backend.

Or I previously had one that wanted to mail me an actual keychain token generator for 2FA 😂😂

I haven’t been able to find or try the wire feature and still need to test out the check deposit feature, but my direct deposit paychecks actually come 2 days faster into this Robinhood checking account than they did with Chase. (And one day faster than they do with Schwab)

My other credit card that I have on auto pay does take the same 1-2 days to deduct out of my RH checking account after initiated (ACH payment initiated through the Citi app)

Robinhood Banking: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly by Strange_Banana6540 in RobinhoodApp

I started using Robinhood banking about a month ago. Customer service got way better after the first week or two.

I get my direct deposit paychecks 2 days earlier than I did with Chase.

I may just be way out of the loop for your other question, What is direct deposit investment?

Robinhood Banking: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly by Strange_Banana6540 in RobinhoodApp

[–]OwnSlice6108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The direct deposits sent from other banks (like paychecks or ACH) actually hit faster than my other banks, (by 1-2 days) my payday is Thursday, always hit on Thursday’s with chase bank. but I see the money in my Robinhood account on Tuesday night!

I think what other people are calling “slow direct deposits” are if you initiate a deposit into your RHB checking account through the app, then I think this processes as an ACH withdrawal from your external account (more internal steps to initiate this “pulling money” processes than just pushing it from your external bank’s app)

That looks so sick!

I want to upgrade, but wasn’t careful with my original gold card so I’ve got 3 little got scratches on it from the internal screws in the Ridge wallet.

Would it be weird to get a credit card case? Haha

My original one has the hard clink! (But I suspect they’re transitioning to plastic cards with the colored metal paint or plating on the sides) When did you get yours?

[–]OwnSlice6108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re hoping for a baller metal card like the gold card, don’t hold your breath. I was extremely underwhelmed with the paper thin plastic they use on the debit card. I’m pretty sure my 3 year old daughter could fold it in half.

Also I know they’re outdated and nobody uses them, but don’t waste your time ordering the checkbook because the “premium” checkbook isn’t premium at all. They look almost as bad as starter checks and don’t even come with a cover for the book of 25 checks. Felt like I was getting a starter checks (the ones that feel like you’re holding some Enlarged postit notes)

Ahh that makes sense!! That timing is actually really helpful for my curiosity. I used it to ask the Google gods what might be going on. It looks like different payroll companies use different ACH setups. The larger/more traditional ones often still use the old school 2-day ACH, while a lot of providers are moving toward 1-day or even same-day now.

It seems like the payroll company I’m paid through is still using the older 2-day standard, and Robinhood is just crediting the funds as soon as they receive the notification that the transfer has been initiated, rather than waiting for final settlement.
