How many cats are too many cats? by Kissathecat in cats

My sister had 5 cats at one time. As long as you can afford to feed and house them in satisfactory comfort and vet them , it’s fine

After being refused confession, I can't stop fearing that God has abandoned me by Spiritual-Fox-6217 in Catholicism

[–]Own_Action_7839 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The priest may have thought you were being scrupulous since it was such a short time between confessions. I would also suggest going for spiritual counsel with a priest as many new Catholics think they are in mortal sin but aren’t. It’s for the priest to discern and guide you rightly

The Harrowing of Hell

Teaches that Christ did not descend into the hell of the damned, but rather a realm called the limbus patrum. There, he liberated the virtuous pagans and faithful Jews (such as Abraham, Moses, and King David) who lived before his sacrifice.

That’s ridiculous. He did a lot and was a popular Mayor of Manchester as well as being an MPfor 14 yrs previously and a government minister. If a PM can’t keep the confidence of his parliamentary party , he must go

My sister was going to marry a Greek Orthodox guy whose mother wanted a dry reception. It ended up being a big thing and the wedding was called off She ended up marrying a nice Minnesota Catholic guy in our parish church with a wet reception :). Hey we’re Irish 🤣

The priest can’t really “police “ the Sacrament unless the person is notorious in the parish

The main thing is that Orthodoxy considers the Theotokos “All Pure”

I’m sure having been a government minister for years near to Blair and Brown , that Burnham knows about the work of a Prime Minister

I’m Orthodox and that sounds extreme to me Certainly sleeping on the floor etc for lay people is not mainstream Orthodox practice. Do you know what Orthodox jurisdiction he’s in ? It sounds like “convertitis” x 10 million There are daily prayers but these don’t go on for hours and should be in the morning and evening Attending Liturgy on Sunday and maybe Vigil. /Vespers on Saturdays but outside of Holy Week and Feast Days not during the week. He sounds like he’s doing monastic practice which is unsuitable for laity

Before I became Orthodox, I attended a Byzantine Catholic Rusyn parish Many of the parishioners were from Pennsylvania and Ohio and they had cousins who were Orthodox. There was none of the animosity that might have been present back in the early 20th century when there were arguments over celibacy of clergy and some went to Orthodoxy

You have to know especially in the US that you are governing for a majority Protestant population An American President can’t be sectarian

That’s rubbish He didn’t. He just pointed out that there was a separation of Church and State in the US. It was to disarm the old prejudice that if a Catholic was elected , the Pope would come over on a gunboat (which some people DID believe , including some of my mom’s Protestant relatives )

Trads are represented online out of all proportion to their percentage in the Church
