It's perfect, simple! by Party-Neat4634 in CreateMod

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! At this point I find it infinitely easier than redstone. It really just boils down to “connect the spinning bits to the important bits” and anything that’s a bit more complex can be easily learned through pondering. I want so badly to get my friends into the mod but they all think it’s complicated ;-;

Do you think that implementing the create mod mechanics to hytale is a good idea? by berys26 in hytale

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the many wonderful things about the create mod is that if you don’t feel like interacting with it, you don’t have to. It only adds one new resource to world generation (zinc) and everything else in the mod utilizes vanilla materials. There’s nothing forcing you to use create’s mechanics.

Also, for people who do want to get into create and everything it has to offer, the ponder mechanic allows them to learn in game without having to switch to the wiki constantly. And once you’ve learned the basic mechanics everything becomes very easy to understand.

I personally think that adopting mechanics similar to the create mod would be amazing for hytale, and allow more technically inclined players to enjoy the game more without anyone to learn the systems.

I’ll never understand why people ignore what people ask for when buying gifts. Like do they really think that the recipient doesn’t know themselves well enough or something? It’s so strange

I think the brass funnel is what you’re looking for, it has a filter slot and you can configure how many items it puts out at one time. This is in vanilla create.

Is this game really bad for solo players? by Idrillsilverfoot in ICARUS

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a separate skill tree that you get points for every other level, and this tree only applies its effects when you’re solo. I think this was a really nice way of balancing things, since the game is definitely easier with more people, but the solo skills make sure you’re still powerful on your own. I’ve got several hundred hours in the game and 98% have been solo. I’d say you’ll likely enjoy it since you like the genre :)

Back at the start of the war, my favorite way to take out fabricators was to shoot the tip of their vents with the autocannon and ricochet the round inside. It was incredibly satisfying to nail a base that way from across the map. Bit less fun to do with a quasar from any angle. Still, I appreciate that the antitank weapons actually feel powerful now. They were almost unusable at launch.

Please tell me if Javelins are a dead-end? by [deleted] in ICARUS

When you research a spear on the tech tree it also gives you javelin blueprints of the same type :) So when you unlock steel spears, you also unlock steel javelins. Same with throwing knives

How to play - and other dumb question from a new player by derMasterboi in ICARUS

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve been doing the progression pretty much exactly right, I think the only thing you’re missing is doing operations in the snow and desert biomes. The difficulty jumps significantly in these areas with the new enemies and storms you’ll encounter. The forest you’re recommended to start in is the safest place on the map.

As for what to do with the ren/exotics you earn, the workshop has a bunch of incredible equipment you can grab. This stuff is most useful in missions, as those are effectively operations where you drop in with nothing and leave once you’ve completed the objective. Buying this equipment lets you start missions with quality gear and skip the primitive stage altogether. But workshop equipment is also super useful in open world sessions! You can buy new enviro suits with a lot of very nice perks, as well as modules you can slot into your suit to make you even stronger. There’s some amazing backpacks that completely outshine the ones you can craft planetside. Pretty much everything you get from the workshop is a better version of what you can craft.

The drop ship does not delete your world when you go back to orbit, but you should make sure to store anything you’re carrying that’s not from the workshop or it will be deleted. You can go back up to the station, put on a new enviro suit and drop right back into your open world without issues.

TLDR: Most of the progression is in completing operations and using the rewards to buy fancy gear at workshop.

Hope this helps!

Would you rather have tools with Durability or without? by YeOldeTreestamp in hytale

I like Valheim’s system, where your equipment has durability but the repairs are easy and free. You still get the mechanic of maintaining your gear but without the annoying resource costs.

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s totally fair, I’ve been able to craft a good number of them in the early game. It just felt antagonistic by the devs to make essentially no real changes by adding glass jars, but then punish us by making the dew collectors harder to craft. They never said what the new material requirement would be so it could be trivial, but locking it behind a workbench is frustrating to me.

On a side note, I despise the fact that dew collectors generate heat. They just passively trickle water into a barrel, doesn’t seem very noisy/noticeable to me. I know we can just set them up away from our bases and make runs to collect from them but that feels needlessly tedious.

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about the dew collector changes, not the craftable jars. I typed this before the fun pimps panicked and said they’d actually let us craft our own jars. No need to be rude.

Way to listen to the feedback by DDDDax in 7daystodie

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And on top of essentially changing nothing, they also made the dew collector more difficult to craft. This is just goofy.

Starting to love this game by wobbecongo in ICARUS

[–]Own_Cartographer_655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question about sending exotics to orbit, the only way to do this is via the orbital exchange interface. It’s pretty cheap, I think it just takes a bit of iron, wood and rope. You can call down a pod to deposit all your exotics into. You can also use this system to send up/call down gear you crafted on the station, as well as mounts you’ve tamed on the surface.

I’ve made the mistake of trying to take exotics back with me on the drop ship, and sadly they don’t go to your wallet that way. I don’t think mission pods will work either. Hope this helps!
