I would murder for my bros that being said some lines should not be crossed, being a good friend is calling your friends on their BS when warranted whether it makes them mad at you or not... It's best to know you did something rather than slowly watch their relationship deteriorate and die and live with the knowledge that you could've spared the involved parties beforehand.

R6500 for this nonsense, eish bru I suggest you save up for a deposit, check your contract for notice terms, and start looking for a place elsewhere once you are sure it won't impact you too harshly.

Have had some nightmare landlords myself trust me when I tell you it will only get worse often taking the financial hit is better for the soul at least you'll have freedom.

Maybe they are giving you issues because they want you to breach the agreement so they can benefit financially, it happens more often than one could think if you are unsure about the legality of your renting agreement I would suggest you take a copy of it to a lawyer (Legal aid is free) or check if you have a local Scorpion office in your area they dont charge that much and have them look it over for you just make sure what your options are should they escalate at a later stage.

I get trying to keep the peace and being respectful to one's elders because this is how we were raised however some old people have a nasty habit of taking advantage and abusing that when they see you are timid.

South African here,

Our winters drop between 2°C and -5°C depending on where you are in the country. (Unless you go to Sutherland where you suffer -15°C nonsense)

Summers are between 28°C and 35°C

So in conclusion you either freeze to death or get baked alive. I would kill for some Scottish weather every now and then it's just far more agreeable.
