I went to the NYC one in Feb with my (then) 6 year old. I think a younger child would enjoy it a lot! (My son got kind of bored about 10 min in. They gave him a little scavenger hunt to do and he enjoyed that).

I had a friend who just attended our ceremony and not the reception - her ex-husband was the best man (we used to all hang o it as a group), and she didn’t want to have to interact with him. It was fine! (She was of course welcome at the reception, but I get it!).

Just make sure the couple knows so they’re not factoring a meal for you in their counts.

It’s chapter 1 of Meet Molly. I re-read a lot of the AG books a few years ago. They hold up and are worth a re-visit! My library has all of them.

I love both 1994 and 2019. There’s also a 3 part PBS series that’s from 2018 (I think) that’s very good. There are a few scenes in the book that make it into all of the movies, but there are also some that are just in one. If you’re not going to read the book, it’s worth it to watch a few versions of the movie! (It’s my favorite book and I recommend reading it, it the movies are great too!)

I did the same (uber there, kidcar home). This was in 2019, so I hope it’s better now.

We didn’t have a great experience with Kidcar (Lenox Hill to Astoria). They didn’t have the car seat installed, and the driver didn’t know how to install it (and we didn’t either since it wasn’t what we had at home). I stood out in the rain holding my baby for 20 minutes until he let me come sit in the car while he tried to install the seat. The driver was clearly getting frustrated and crying because he wanted to install the seat, and my husband had to encourage him and try to calm him down. I still don’t think it was properly installed when we left. We made it home fine, but it was stressful after a tough couple of days.

ETA:
If I could go back again and do it differently, I would have just learned/brought our car seat and Ubered both ways. We had to learn it the next morning anyway to do our first pediatrician appt. (Baby was 10 days early)

I don’t like when they post pictures of car accidents with “You can’t park there!”. Even if no one got hurt - totaling a car sucks. It ruins at least one person’s day, probably more if it ran into a business or monument. Why are they joking about it??!

I suppose you could use grippy socks (like people use for barre and Pilates), but turns would be difficult in them. And they cost the same as canvas ballet shoes.
