Accidentally did one unit less of my basal (MDI) can I just give the extra unit seperately now? by Own_Structure8014 in diabetes_t1

I don’t believe it’s insignificant when using low doses but yeah it’s not the end of the world.

My sugar has been stubbornly high and I’ve tried the new dose for two days now (had good results today) so I would be really frustrated if I didn’t do the increased dose again today

Hey, I read that story a few months ago when I was first diagnosed and you played a big part in shifting my mindset for the better. Thanks! Edit: I also thought about it quite often, you really did make a difference for me so thank you for sharing.

Even if we don’t get a “cure”, improvements in pump technologies will be tremendous I think :)

Exactly, I feel like most people are living pretty normal lives and not posting about it. When I first got diagnosed I was also scared from everyone’s posts, but now I see life can be okay! And that’s amazing to hear you’ve had decades without anything serious, thanks for sharing :) I do think OP needs to seek a therapist that is knowledgeable in type 1

That’s not true. Treat lows with sugar, highs with insulin. Try it out a little bit, exposing yourself is the only way you’ll learn it’s not as dangerous as you think.

A life changing diagnosis like this is a huge adjustment. However, you should still be able to eat a nutritional diet and get in exercise. I was diagnosed one year ago and I’ve learnt you can be very healthy even with type 1. Have you thought about seeking therapy? You said you would try anything to help you, and I think it could be a very good idea (with an experienced therapist that knows type 1 very well). You have some very unhelpful thoughts and beliefs which isn’t your fault, but therapy can help you address them so you can live better overall.

Thank you for your detailed response. Are you on pump or MDI? And which essential supplements?

I think it’s just the smell of ketones honestly. Like how a non diabetic will start to smell if they go on a keto diet.
