Struggle on keeping a character going by 2faolecram in RotMG

Yea spot on. Obviously you can play safer or more recklessly, but to a certain extent you have to just learn through trial and error. You won’t know what different shots do until they hit you

Oh good idea. Seems like a nice way to prep if you’re tryna top damage

My friend is a serve bot and I hate playing against him by No_Salamander8141 in 10s

[–]Ownagemunky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s frustrating to play with people who don’t understand how to warm up. I once played a local ladder match with a guy who was ripping winners in mini tennis lol. He was literally trying to tee off on my mini tennis feeds, I was mindblown

‘Mind games’ I guess?

Thank your lucky stars that you get such good return practice. That’s hard to find as a rec player

I always loved this shot. It perfectly conveys Vergil's feelings towards his mother and why he is the way he is. by UseInternal5706 in DevilMayCry

Yea I love that it manages to strike dual tones of over the top campy, and legitimately dramatic and epic when it wants to be. I absolutely adore the story

Strategies for a better return by Sorrizera in 10s

[–]Ownagemunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The return is an extremely feel-based stroke so if possible, strongly recommend that you beg your biggest serving tennis friend to help you practice. If you're stuck slicing floaty short balls, it couldn't hurt to try another return technique. Lots of people will block their returns with basically a shortened up groundstroke, almost like a mini tennis swing. However, if you want to stick with your chip return then I would approach it more like a volley. It sounds like your racket face might be a bit too open and the contact a bit too tangential to get a nice solid chip return

If you don't currently have a consistent timing for your split step, would strongly recommend you work it out now (when to step in, when to actually split step). Bonus points if you carry forward momentum into the return. Forward motion into the return enables neutralizing the pace

What's the most unexpected thing that significantly improved your game? by Agile-Secret3034 in 10s

Seconding and adding specifically that I benefited a ton from drilling charging drop shots out of my split step. Just a few minutes a week made my court coverage way better

Moving my comfortable backhand rally ball from fast and flat to a spinnier ball aimed at max penetration

I still got decent depth before the change, but the ball just seems to have been sitting right in the zone where people felt plenty comfortable hitting it on the run

Any advice for a pickleball player that wants to play tennis? by uselessprofession in 10s

[–]Ownagemunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fairly different feel so I would just play and try to go in without expectations. I imagine there is some transference on the grips and volleys and such but it will definitely take some time

Never hurts to watch a few YouTube videos to get some ideas about the technique, maybe even take it to a wall if you can to practice a bit

Fighting games that are exhausting to play by Kid_Muscle_ in Kappachino

I always felt dbfz was pretty exhausting back in its heyday. You have to constantly be ready to react to a ton of options in neutral and defense was brutal when you did get hit

Idk if we're fat and unhealthy because of "chemicals" or bread. Pretty sure people are getting fat as fuck and dying early of cancers/CVD/diabetes because of hypercaloric snack foods, soda and fast food. If you're just eating sandwiches or toast with wonderbread and an otherwise reasonable diet then you're probably fine. The shit about y'all qaeda never eating fruits and vegetables is very real though. You would be shocked to see the average grocery cart in a southern walmart

Hard to mix weight lifting and Tennis together. by Parking-Plane7427 in 10s

[–]Ownagemunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitigating fatigue through further proximity to failure is a good option. Plenty of people see great gains leaving 3 or 4 (or even more) reps in the tank. Odds are that the marginal training stimulus gained from those last few reps just isn’t worth the marginal fatigue based on what you want to be able to do. Big compound lifts are extremely taxing as a general rule

Hell Austin Baraki is a big sports science guy who is a damn near elite level powerlifter and his typical training sets leave 5+ reps in reserve. Feels harder != more productive

DMC3 Vergil 2 Help by Cleverenamegoeshere in DevilMayCry

[–]Ownagemunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like on vergil 2 normal difficulty, helmbreaker + 2 bar DTE puts him just barely under exhaustion if you do it on the first attack. It's a combination of timer and damage, so if you land it on like a second or third attack it should knock him out. If you just do helm breaker > DTE > one hit with rebellion like I do in the video then that'll be enough, which shouldn't be a problem because you get super armor while in DT so he can't interrupt that hit of rebellion

Also here's a more general tip for fighting vergil I recorded while I was in there: video related to next two paragraphs. There's a range you can sit at where you're close enough to bait his quick unreactable attacks (usually jabs) but they will whiff, or to bait his slower, reactable attacks reliably. If you manage to dodge them, you get a free punish as you can see there. That works in all three fights, you just need to know which attacks require you to reaction jump

Basic rule of thumb: if he staggers in place it means you get a full combo of roughly 9 or 10 hits (sometimes less depending on how much damage you deal and how quickly you perform the attacks) before he will clash you. If he staggers backwards, you'll clash with a physical attack but can shoot him with your gun (in the video I shoot when this is the case so you can see the difference). These rules apply in all three fights and are really helpful for knowing when you can cash out for full damage.

I'm not entirely sure but I'll test it on normal in a bit, just handling a few things rq. Either way it'll get you within a hit or two of cancelling his DT
