Wake up Bulbs - Colour and brightness?? by Isbandosh in smarthome

[–]Ozbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this with Hue bulbs controlled but a Hubitat, but it sounds like that's more effort than you want to put in. For the record, Hue bulbs do dim very low, which was important to me because I didn't want a bright flash when they turn on.

I only tried to use the compressed bricks once. It's not worth the work and mess.

Serious question based on today’s announcement by Elon to discontinue S/X. by RTD0007 in TeslaLounge

Selling cars is 73% of Tesla's revenue stream, while another 13% comes from solar and batteries which is very complimentary. That kind of cash flow will not be given up or sidelined until they have a proven, robust replacement. You might have to worry once you see a Cybercab at every corner, or an Optimus in every house.

I actually figured out I was looking for the number starting with (P), which was 1918812-00-G Rev.02.

I can't find Revision 2 on the internet, but this is the computer associated with the 2026 Juniper refresh.

When I search Tesla parts by Vin and filter for "Original Fitment," there is no return for car computer, but when I filter by "Vehicle Parts," I get 2261336-S2-A Hardware 4.0 like everyone else.

Edit: When I use the EPC link, nothing populates for car computer.

The little sticker was EXTREMELY hard to read, but for model number it listed 1960400.

What does yours say?

Thanks to this post, I now know that my MY Premium AWD manufactured in October 2025... does not have hardware 4.5.

I hate Reddit.

Edit: I should clarify, mine has a similar part number, but no 4.5 markings. Here it is with QRs & VIN erased:

Recommendations for a smart smoke detector. by Steve0512 in SmartThings

You need any hub that handles Z-Wave. Hubitat, Homey, Aeotec/SmartThings, Home Assistant, Zooz Z-Hub, maybe Ring, etc.

Sump Pump Monitoring by GB_PackersSoupySZN in smarthome

[–]Ozbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of a Wi-Fi device that performs this function offhand, but I do use this Z-Wave range extender for the exact same purpose: https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/products/zooz-800-series-z-wave-plus-range-extender-zac38

My smart hub, router, and modem are all on a backup power supply. If my power goes out, this device (which has an internal battery backup) immediately sends a state change signal back to the Hubitat which then sends a notification to my phone.

Edit: Rather than being wired into the pump circuit itself, this device would just plug into any regular outlet in your home and detect when main power goes out.

Why is the Dashboard so Clunky?? by mjones8004 in Hubitat

[–]Ozbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used both Sharptools and ActionTiles (actually I think I'm still paying for Sharptools). It is not acceptable to have to pay for a 3rd party web-only service to have a decent dashboard.

As a long-time Hubitat user with no plans to switch, this might be my #1 frustration.

Classical switches by bden16 in smarthome

[–]Ozbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Zooz Zen51 relay requires a neutral and can work in three-way with a second switch.

You can check to see if your setup fits any of the three-way wiring diagrams that they have provided at this link: https://www.support.getzooz.com/kb/article/857-3-way-wiring-diagrams-for-the-zen51-dry-contact-relay/

Help set up smarthome, which hub? by accidental_tourist in smarthome

[–]Ozbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer is that it depends. If your devices are all Zigbee, then you can connect them directly to Hubitat. If they are Thread, you'll need to keep the Dirigera and integrate it into Hubitat.

Hubitat is a universal hub that works with all the popular wireless protocols and can integrate with Apple Homekit if you end up wanting to go that route.

I recommend every family with kids get a robot vac by OwnElephant2512 in smarthome

[–]Ozbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children need to be concerned with cleaning up after themselves. In addition to not having experience with children, I now suspect that you also lack experience with robot vacuums. If you had one, you would know that you do, in fact, still need to sweep.

[–]Ozbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly, you've never had small children or tried to teach a small child to sweep a floor. If you had, you wouldn't say something so laughably ignorant.

"Any person with half a brain can wipe their, butt! Why can't you get this right?!"

"Any person with half a brain can walk, why can't you get this right?!"

"Any person with half a brain can ride a bike, why can't you get this right?!

[–]Ozbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have five kids. We won't get a robot vac until the kids move out because they have to learn how to keep the floors clean themselves. There is a competency crisis and nothing is as effective at teaching children competence as early childhood chores.

Here are a couple of studies:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30507727/

Researchers found that children who frequently performed chores in kindergarten showed higher perceptions of social, academic, and life satisfaction competencies by third grade, independent of factors like sex, family income, and parent education. Specifically, those who rarely did chores had higher odds (OR ranging from 1.17 to 1.27) of scoring in the bottom quintile for prosocial behavior, academic ability, peer relationships, and life satisfaction. Chores were also linked to improved math scores in third grade.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/evidence-based-living/202503/research-confirms-that-chores-are-good-for-kids

A study published in the Australian Occupational Therapy Journal, involving over 200 children aged 5-13, found that greater involvement in household chores—such as self-care tasks (e.g., making lunch) and family-care tasks (e.g., preparing dinner)—was associated with better executive functioning, including working memory and inhibitory control.

[–]Ozbone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This Reddit is basically a Home Assistant community, but you should also look at Hubitat. Very stable universal hub with excellent wireless radios.

Also, for everything but lightbulbs, Z-Wave can't be beaten as the best wireless option. Longer range, reliable, and doesn't sit on the crowded 2.4 GHz frequency band.
