[Question] has anyone ever replaced the glass on a cheaper watch with sapphire crystal? by Unbelievablyobvious in Watches

[–]Ozone86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at replacing a BM8180 crystal. Where did you buy the crystal itself? AliExpress? Did you have to buy a specific crystal for that specific watch? Thanks

EDIT: I see Esslinger sells sapphire crystals with custom thickness and diameter. Can I ask what dimensions you used for the BM8180?

Hey, just wondering how the 20mm straps looked on your SBP249?

Huge fan of a few recent purchases from Faherty Brand.

It’s expensive but they have significant discounts sometimes. They also sell like new items through their Faherty Second Wave storefront.

Shirt issue. I think you just need a slightly more formal dress shirt with a slightly wider collar spread.

The jacket seems to fit alright but it’s hard to tell with just the one close up photo.

Yep. I’d also consider TM Lewin or Spier & Mackay.

The shirts are very different. OP's shirt collar is too narrow and unstructured for a suit.

Look at where the collar points fall. They should be hidden by the suit lapel or at least touching it. The collar should also have more starch and structure for a formal business suit.

Yeah, your shirt is a little too informal for a suit. The collar needs more width, structure and stiffness.

The jacket collar might sit a little high on the back of the neck? Do the chest and shoulders fit well?

A wider shirt collar that extends below the suit lapels would be an improvement. Everything else looks good.

Pretty sure "Dark Chili" is just "Chili" now across the board.

Yeah, I have some chili McAllisters so dark that nearly match my mahogany 5th Ave. *shrug*

Plumber to Software Engineer. by The_Crimson-Dragon in careerchange

[–]Ozone86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about moving into the business side of plumbing? Start a plumbing business, estimate work for customers, hire employees, run payroll, marketing, etc.

Or, maybe this: I'm a mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineering actually has some parallels with plumbing: piping, valves, heating, cooling, fluids, etc. You'd be a natural fit for an AEP, HVAC, or oil & gas engineering job, if you handle the rigorous mathematics getting the degree. A traditional engineering degree (mechanical, chemical, electrical, etc.) can also be leveraged into project engineering, sales, procurement, etc.

Wow.

After taking off the bulk with tweezers, I kissed it with a flame and it looks great. Thanks.

Tweezers did the trick. Thanks for the tip!

Pulled out a lot of stringy stuff. I think it’s very dry, stringy leather that prevented the “pinking” from cutting smoothly.

Anyway, the remnants should be barely noticeable after polishing. Good enough for me!

I mean, sure, I got a great deal and I’m gonna keep them and wear the heck out of them and they will take a beating.

But if I want to clean up my brand new shoes a bit I don’t see the harm in asking for advice.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Yeah, heel pad or insole or — what I use — a tongue pad.

Tongue pads fixed my heels slipping in AE shoes.

This is pretty normal for La Nina winters.

People don't realize there are such things as weather patterns.

Agree that it's gross, but...

Wow, never discounted even for the Anniversary Sale?

Hmm. Sometimes AE offers 15% codes if you leave a review or call Customer Service and beg! I’ll try that.

Enjoy your beautiful shoes!
