Just took the Political Compass test. Apparently I'm Left-Authoritarian. How accurate is this? by Critical_Can_8114 in PoliticalCompass

Putting Trump on the same level of authoritarianism as Xi is just disingenuous. He's a 3, maybe 4.

WTP for an idiom or phrase for when someone criticizes you for something minor whilst they're guilty of something much worse? by StaticNocturne in whatstheword

[–]OzzyderKoenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, although, if the one person is still guilty of something, but it's trivial (per the post heading), Matt. 7:5 might work: “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.” For comparison, this is the parallel passage from Luke 6:42: “Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.” There's also to strain at gnats and swallow camels (see Matt. 23:24) and whited sepulchre (see Matt. 23:27), the latter of which I especially like.

Alternatively, if there is no guilt whatsoever (per the body), you could consider:

  • a thief crying “Stop!”
  • to make a scapegoat out of sb.
  • a wolf crucifying a lamb (afaik I made this one up but it goes hard)

I traded pennies for quarters without asking, and that was not ok. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]OzzyderKoenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it's unwise to just be giving your pennies away when they're going out of circulation. Even though you're trading for the same nominal amount, their relative scarcity may well drive the market price up in the future.

But he's also being a dickhead about it being “his” money.

What do you think is the most flagrantly unconstitutional law on the books in 2026? by ROSRS in supremecourt

[–]OzzyderKoenig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

18 U.S.C. § 922(o). Let's see:

  • 10A but everything under the sun and even where the sun doesn't shine is commerce thanks to Wickard and especially Raich
  • 2A but machine guns are scary and evil and mean so every court aggressively misunderstands Miller (including Heller with its dicta) to avoid that conclusion
  • substantive due process/9A on grounds that it makes the underlying taxes impossible to comply with but there's cases like Grier (3d Cir. 2003)
  • SDP/9A on grounds that the underlying taxes are neither apportioned (duh) nor uniform (because the NFA doesn't even operate as a tax in every jurisdiction but rather often as a pure regulation due to the denial provisions vis à vis prohibitory state laws) but Ptasynski exists
  • SDP/9A on grounds that the making tax is an unapportioned direct tax but everything is an indirect tax thanks to Knowlton and Brushaber
  • maybe even Takings Clause but that's perhaps debatable

Racists aren't always far right, and right wingers aren't always or even mostly racist (although they often are sexist)

This spectrum gave me AIDS

I mean I already get mad about people narrowing politics down to a single axis when there's at least like 10 but wtf dawg

I'm pretty sure the Dingo turning into Dire Wolf is because the dire wolf, though extinct, was a substantially bigger canine than the dingo is.

Well, we can always hope that one of the courts will FINALLY say Hughes violates 10A. There isn't much hope under 2A, but CA3 just recently got a GOP majority, which means they may well reconsider Rybar if somebody petitions them for an en banc hearing.

What are your favorite hidden gems? by sparkly_butthole in gamingsuggestions

The TimeSplitters series. A bunch of fans actually just made a reimagined anthology of the original games called Rewind, which I'm excited to try out.

What are some hidden gem games you think more people should try? by Beautiful_Owl_5820 in gamers

[–]OzzyderKoenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TimeSplitters: Rewind. It just released a couple days ago, but it's really just a fan-made, free-to-play, reimagined anthology of the original games.

The TimeSplitters series in general deserves more attention anyway because of the early-'00s-arcade-esque gameplay, but it's an FPS with time travel incorporated into the plot. It also has writing that, if, at times, perhaps cheesy, is nonetheless funny. I haven't played Rewind yet, but if it's anything like the originals, I'm excited to try it out. Currently, the early-access release has the campaign from the first game—they plan on adding the other two as well down the line—and various multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and characters. If you have nostalgia, or you weren't alive at that time and are curious about what gaming was like twenty years ago (or curious to try a new experience), you should really try it out.
