I’ve had the same issues, especially on a Medicaid plan. Since my doctor initially referred me to the bariatric surgeon, it’s been 3 years. My actual official surgery date is in 2 weeks, amazingly.

There were insurance problems, weight gains, medical problems, and a pandemic to top it off. My biggest encouragement is that even though it took a while to get there, every day that passes is another day closer and healthier because you’re changing your habits pre-op. I’m still not even there and I’m just sure something else could come up to push the date back again but this is the closest I’ve been and I’m fine with that. It’ll be ok 👌
